Mr. Elias Bare Shill, Kenyan Member of Parliament told local television station that he supports Somaliland’s quest for international recognition.

Mr. Shill congratulated the people of Somaliland for their recent successful elections and the tremendous progress the country has made.

He added he plans to visit Somaliland once the new Kenyan airliner starts operating between Hargeisa and Nairobi.

“The dream of greater Somalia is no longer valid. Djibouti is gone. We, the Somalis of NFD no longer wish to be part of Somalia, we are Kenyans. The Somalis of Ethiopia are also taking part in that country. Somaliland is not the problem, the problem is the South. Who is killing all the Somalis? Do we call someone that openly slaughters Somalis are true patriot, a one that loves Somalis? No, greater Somalia is dead,” he said.

Mr. Elias Bare Shill is a Kenyan Member of Parliament and a businessman. He also holds a bachelor of Education Degree from Nairobi University and is a teacher by profession.

Somali Kenyans are better off with Kenya. They should never set foot on Somalia. I'm from Somali-Ethiopia myself and my country is Ethiopia. We (Somali Kenyans and Somali Ethiopians) should support Somaliland together. We are already doing enough and today we hosted a delegation from Hargeisa.

The new airline from Kenya will open a new chapter between the two people.

Thanks Mr Elias, you are rare among Somalis. Now a days it is really difficult to find a Somali who is capable of stepping out of his or her tribal mentality.

The most recent Kenya's new constitutional approvals gives all Kenyans equal rights of opportunities and the Kenyan Somalis can now enjoy their lawful abode in their country without discrimination. Afterall Kenya a British Commonwealth Country and the Somaliland and the Somali State of the Ethiopian Federal Republic are all traditionally and Culturally English-speaking E.A. Countries and share common deep-rooted Historical Backgrounds bonding all the E.A. Countries together in much-needed Peace and harmony. The Kenyan MP Mr. Elias Bare Shill comments supporting the Recognition of Somaliland comes about the right time and is helpful and gratefully appreciated. incidently a Somaliland delegation headed by the Interior Minister DR. Gaboose was received by the Somali State Minister of the Ethio.Fed.Rep. in a highly regarded welcome ceremony. Signs of good omen seems is in the brewing eh?
    Cheers.

Speaking in a common foreign language does not add anything to two different countries' relations. The whole world can now speak in English.

I am glad to hear that other open-minded Somalis can see the benefit of Somaliland recognition. It's in all Somali speaking peoples interest, for Somaliland to be recognized, because once Somaliland becomes a recognized sorveign State it will become a voice of Somalis including it's Southern brothers. Any Somali with a common sense will never argues against Somaliland recognition unless they have clan based sick motive. An intellectual Somali should understand it's in the best interest for all somali everywhere that Somaliand recognized. And majority of our Somali people in Kenya without regards to clan support this idea.

Well done Mr Shiil. charity begins at home. Those who help themselves can help others, but unfortunately, those Wallaweyn, who are burning their homes, want also us to burn our homes because they are envious of our well-being. We have made a mistake once but we shall not make the same mistake again. Sorry Wallaweyn, mind your own business and recognition will soon come before your eyes, but hope you will not lose your eyesights when see it.

Previously it was my conviction that Puntland remains the no1 enemy to Somaliland. However although that scenario still holds the dangerous dynamics have now shifted to the Farmaajo Sharif Ahmed TFG which goes back to the 1969 Military Rule of Gen. Barre. Make no mistake if the Farmaajo takes off for whatever reason it means another Military Dictatorship type Govt. for Somalia and if Somaliland Puntland don't avoid such recurrence of another rule all the Somalis plight will be another hell for ever.
    Cheers.

afford another new military rule. Future Govts. must be civilian administered.

Well said Mr. Barre Shill! This is what any sensible person would say regarding the situation of Somaliland. They we initially an independent state from the British but joined Southerners to make the Somali republic. It is no history, everybody knows the suffering and humiliations the people of Somaliland went through under dictator Barre regime that lead them to civil war and seek back their former independent Somaliland. They should be treated like the Black Sudanese and Eriterian and a referendum called so that the decide their destiny. I strongly support an independent Somaliland state.
