Khat should immediately be banned not only in UK but also in Somaliland. I know it will be difficult war where a lot of people chew it but education can beat any thing if given some time and lots of determination.
khat not only destroys families it is also is health and social problem. Many of the khat addicts are no different to any other drug users and often spend hours and hours chewing the green leaves. They do not work, sleep right and are often angry and frustrated due to lack of sleep, not eating properly and demistic problems because khat causes dysphoria, anxiety, reactive depression, insomnia and anorexia.
Khat can also destroys a man's offspring by making him incompotent in bed because the plant targets your nervous system which is linked to your heart rate, digestion and sexual arousal…so damaging that can make men not active at all.
UK is the only EU nation that allows such drug into its country, I dont understand what is wrong with them. Are they trying to kill the Somali population or is there another agenda? It has the facilities to test this plant and findout its effects in last than two days, it knows its harms, but what the government forgot to remember is that all those unemployed guys who spend so much time on chewing will later turn on the UK government and become terrorists.
Kenya is lobbying to keep khat legal in the UK.
The next government of Somaliland should impose high tariffs on the importation of khat so that it becomes too expensive to most people. We simply can not afford all the health and social problems associated with this drug. With the ban or restriction of khat, we can save and reinvest the tens of millions of dollars of our money that goes to Ethiopia every year because of khat back into our country.
I don't think that will stop people buying it, they will just become criminals and rob others to get the money they need.
We need to launch massive campaigns across the country about the health and social problems of khat. We also need to teach young women not to marry khat users while employers should not employ khat users. I believe this will isolate them and society will see them as junkies and worse and the people who have goals will stay away from them.
I know its harsh but khaat creates more problems than isolating few drug addicts.
All schools need to introduce new drug education curriculums.
Eventually not employing green teeth men and not marrying them will cut money and future drug addict kids from them.
Khad addicts need to know they are junkies with huge problems and they should seek help.
I am not a fan of Khat, but knowing that this past time for thousands of
peoples who not kick off the habit, I would rather leave them to enjoy
the kicks of it. Man, you folks are over critical for anything, everything
beyonds critics anything, everything deserves.
I agree Khat should be banned not only in Uk but every where. At the same I do not think Khat is worst than Alcohol. I think Alcohol kill more people and destroy more family. We should ask to ban alcohol too.
khat is not a drug it depends on the way you use it….
One can talk about it wether the khat shoud be banned or not all day. but reality is it will never happen unless we all stand up and take the chalenge to save our youngesters and remove this evil drug from our community. so please come on and lets do it go LSYF and sing the petition see your MP and ask why he or she is not doing nothing.
