The Quest for Recognition Continues

WASHINGTON DC(Somalilandpress)–Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Omar has been in the United States of America as part of the continued push for recognition. Visits to Washington and New York will see him meeting with representatives of all that countries that have a permanent seat on the UN Security Council (China, France, Russia, USA and the UK) and other nations concerned about ongoing issue of maritime piracy in the Indian Ocean.
On Wednesday of this week Dr Omar was a guest of the International Republican Institute at an event entitled: Crisis in the Horn of Africa: A Somaliland Perspective. This event was moderated by Dr. J. Peter Pham, Director of the Michael S. Ansari Africa Center at the Atlantic Council.

We should fund a lobby in the united states. You know what we could do if we paid just a fraction of what we dish out on cell phone bills each month annually? Somaliland would not only have its recognition but a powerful lobby in the United States!
yeah i agree with bedria, we dont do enough to search for that recognition. We should set up a commitie that would put somaliland on the media map so we become the talk of the bbc, international forums and also fund lobby's in powerful countries U.S or britain…it would be even easier to get one of those corrupt african leaders to recognise us by lobbying in his country.
Makhir,Awdal,Ogaden & SSC lobbies are already in place,no hide out left. You have to retreat back to Dubur ,ask for clemency and pay all due compensation,only that will set you free.

haha SSC,Awdal and Makhir with lobbies lol…..they are something called minorities, minorities dont call shot majourities do. If we wanted to make a lobby we could always make a better funded and more acknowledged one and non of these organisation recieve as much support from the communities there aimed at compared to somaliland so even i can count and realise when organisations are losers and somailand if it was ever to make a lobby in a foreign country would make a winning one. btw the ogaden has a lobby…my behind, if they had a lobby they wouldnt have all there politicians in bushs weilding guns and also they wouldnt have media being unable to access there land

LOBBY GROUP! Yes, yes and yes. That's what Somaliland desperately needs. Look, how many somalilanders live in the UK alone,…Holland, USA. I mean this is long overdue. Our governments past and present should have created a lobby group long ago and fund it. Hey, it's never too late, we're not different than the palestinians (who by the way, displayed a huuuuge flag in front of the EU in Brussels, kossovans, south-sudanese…ect . Dear somalilanders, we have to use Facebook, our media websites, tv & radios to wake our government up and sensitize and make our diaspora aware of the importance of lobbying for our sovereignty. LET'S DO IT and create a lobby group first on facebok itself. Long live Somaliland!!

hey folks, looks like the new TFG PM is engaged in improving a good workable relationship
between Somalia and Puntland and there are already signs that its gaining a remarkably
certain appreciable signs of progress.However cautiously it might be too early to speculate
crediblity. Against this new senario the Somaliland administration and their foreign Minister
will be faced with tougher challenges. For one thing is sure enough that the SSDF PM of
Somalia South against the SNM President of Somalia north(now Somaliland) will be a new
political phase between the two somalis entities. Simply said we are again back to the old real show
down between MJ Daroodism verses the isaaqism dirism etc. However for the Somaliland political
scene much will depend on how the foreign policy will be strong enough to deal with the antagnaizing menacing problems of the Somalia South against the Somaliland legitimate issues at hand on
the international platform.

The only lobby Somaliland needs is in TEL AVIV, secret talks should start immediately to put in place a secret cooperation with the gov of Israel, in return Israel to push the US to recognize Somaliland, this the only way to solve this problem.

I used to hear some stories which use to say that Isaaq are descendents of jewish man call Isaaq and I use to dismiss it. But I think now it is inevitable to raise some worries on that issue.

I wish some of us could have known that the foreign Minister of Somaliland will
be coming to USA, we could have contacted our US Senators and US house of Representatives, so that he could have met with them.
I hope in future when the Somaliland leaders comes to USA Somaliland representative will put every effort to contact Somaliland diaspora communities, so that we as a group can generate more publicity.

Im sorry but you are dreaming. WAKE UP WARYAA! Somaliland is united. We are major clans that came together for peace. We were ALWAYS independent from the SOUTH. We joined the south in the late 1960s to form the REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA. We regret it till this day! A treacherous general forced a dictatorship down our throats while you the people of the south enjoyed fruits of our sacrifice. You outsourced our ports to foreign nations. We said enough is enough and we fought against every clan who denied us our land with out RUSSIAN or USA military aid. Somaliland kicked the rest of Somalia's ass for its independence. Now reality is this for the South and Pirateland (Puntland) you guys are corrupt, don't have free elections and have no respect for human life what so ever. All the Somali youth dying right now is the fault of the TFG and Pirateland (Puntland). I'm sorry its true. All the blood is on the hands of a government that did not care for its people. Somaliland youth are not dying because of good government. TFG and Pirateland (Puntland) should be united under Somaliland government, all of Somalia should be under Somaliland control. We would have lasting peace forever.

I believe Somali land should take the initiative of putting all Somalis under the Somali land. Instead of watching Ethiopians and Kenyans doing their job.

This open animosity towards Somaliland has nothing to do with UNITY or anything of the sort. It is about pure uncontrollable envy and greed. These people are afraid of being left behind, being singled out in the media and what Somaliland can become!
We must give these people credit despite their self destructive tunnel vision. For them the name of the game is development and they aren't thinking about Somaliland's simple separation. They are thinking "If Somaliland separates they will develop, their people will prosper, their cities will grow and we will never be able to catch up or out do them"

We should not forget that Allah gave us this beautiful peace and our wonderful snm heroes spilled all their blood, sacrificed their whole life to fight for the freedom we enjoy today may Allah give them jannah and forgive their sins.

the majority of population In Sanaag and Sool regions are sub clans of the nation of Shiikh Isaxaaq Bin Axmed. The great tombs of Shiikh Isaxaaq Bin Axmed and His nine diect sons is loacted in Maydh, which a coastal town near Erigavo. We do remember that during the election times in SL, all candidates usually hurry up to Ceergaabo the capital of sanaag region. No body ever disputed that.

Let us be fair and honest here. Sool is majority Dhulbhante and Isaaq are the minority. Caynabo is the only town with a majority Isaaq population. The rest of the cities are mostly if not all Dhulbhante. This makes Sool are predominately Dhulbhante region. In Sanaag, the population by size goes Isaaq (Habar Younis, Habar Jeclo), Warsengali then Dhulbhante. That is the major reason Sanaag has been relatively peaceful compared with Sool. The Isaaq and Warsengali aren't interested in war and so there is no tolerance for troublemakers and disturbers of the peace.
Somaliland do not need to look back and waste our time Somalis clans we only need to go ahead. We have to get recognition and development; we are not going back for the black days of Somali History. Go a head together.
