Hargeisa (Somalilandpress)-With a limited time the new administration of Berbera Port has been able to improve the ports functionality. Under the Management of Ahmed Yusuf Dirir the Berbera Port has bought the technical equipments needed to manage the daily services of the port. The port has also received new medical facility, cosmatic improvements of the main entrance and roads leading to Berbera city.
Recent days 85% of the port’s service has increased, apart from the local commercial export and imports, this has come in to focus the neighboring country Ethiopia to use as main port turning the previous ports like Djibouti and Sudan. Also Berbera Port Authority has repaired the the storage facilities of the port which has not been repair in many years.

The Manager of Berbera Port Authority told SomalilandPress, that they have added new lifters to facilitate the smooth daily operation of the port. A new surveillance security system and additional man power has been added since this new management has come into power.

don't delate my comment just i wonna say hambalyo! isbedelka la taban karo ee lagu sameyey port berbera
The Berbera Port is the main life line for the SL Republic and deserves uncorrupted and
properly educated top class management. It should have all the modern facilities with good roads
leading to all the business centres etc. This new Berbera port authority agency arrangement
comes under whom? If independent how the financial aspects handled or reach the Govt. treasury?
How nice to see the Berbera Port coming into life again and competitively proving its splendour
glamours glorious history of the past. Berberaay sooma tihiid wax gg'o lagu qaado kawayn.
Cheers.
I'm not all for total government control but if it means improvement of the port it's all good…the port is life line for Somaliland…However, having to hold the government accountable for what the port produces is very important. long live Somaliland.
Excellent job I am welcoming the latest development. It seems the new authority is heading in the right direction. More needs to be done but its good start.
bravo!!
We should give the new management time and space. There are people already accusing them of miss-appropriation, and I believe those guys are some who could get what they have accustomed before and they have to accuse those entrusted to make the change. We are funny people, who just born to accuse without thinking the consequences. I would hope that we change that attitude and build our country. Somaliland is like a she camel that has twelve nipples and we should share the progress it makes and stop hampering the change we have been longing for the last twenty years.
Our people must differentiate between state building and personal attacks, if we want to have viable state that feeds its people. We should also stop nepotism and Qabiil support of someone who is not capable.
Allah, the almighty protects Somaliland from the enemy-within and those haters out there.
Job well done but don't stop there…..
somalilandpress ………..more like government press……this government is excellent no mistakes no worries….we must trust somalilandpress…….they are a very relaible source????????????
Progress or backwardness depends how people of any country thinks of their life. If, for instance, you want to improve your life, you do things rightly. Things done rightly leads to another new good things. This is true of a persons as it is true of a government. This process is continuous. It ends with the end of the world. If your are sick, you should seek remedy. If you are hungry, you should find food. Otherwise you die. Fulfilling your needs requires hard work and dedication. Somali land will not reach the level of the advanced nations but can improve its present situation by following their steps.
well done but more like a governmental press release rather than an objective article, although I was a kulmiye supporter and still am, I still detest the third world attitude towards their government thanking and praising it out of a false sense of gratitude when it is just doing its job, you don't thank and praise a taxi driver when he drives to your destination because he done something extraordinary but because its polite.
@ Naliey you are right tell these people to hold on to their "praises". Government officials are doing their jobs. Simple.
I guess previous administrations -all the way to the 50's- set the bar so low that we benchmark our administration to failed authoritative and bankrupt administrations.
handle berbera deserves better, last time i visited Berbera there was huge hanger were people and their laguage, piled like heard of sheep ready to be transported to Saudi arabia. Now the new government is posting that they make new development, building new building it does not make change.building new structure needs right expertise who can deliver what Berbera deserves.
History has shown business run privately ar more successful but I don't know how Berbera Port manage. Berbera was one of the three major Ports before Somalia collapsed and it's still is. Last time I visited, I like the view to the west side of the port where you see endless beauty water. Berbera Port should be given all the equiptments it need inorder to serve better for its consumers regardless of who they maybe.
Berbera was the second largest port in the former Somalia after the Port of Mogadishu. Very soon its going to become the largest port in the region once the investment abroad for the port comes. There are number of firms interested in Berbera including the French company.
viva SSC
Somaliland way dhaqaaqday. Haters go die.
I have a dream that one day Somaliland will be the shinning star in the whole region and am not talking about just Africa, the Arab World will be right behind us trying to catch up. You wait and see. This country has got it going and won't stop till it is on TOP.
May Allah bless my homeland Somaliland. The only place that calls to me.
Puntlandgeezer,
You do know that Parts of Sool and Sanaag (PSS) has nothing to do with and want nothing to do with Puntland right? Ironic isn't it; a "puntlandgeezer" saying viva PSS. kkkkkkk.
Making-over the port of Berbers is on the right direction and long overdue because the Berbera Port is the life blood of our economy and very important strategic location that the whole have their eyes on.
Siyad Barre was pocketing over 40 millions a year and without sharing the wealth with its rightful people.
To those who are saying the government is only doing their. Why are we singing our praises? We say: give a credit where credit is deserved. We are not singing their praises for nothing, we like what we see and positively critiquing them and encouraging them to do more of the same. It is called 'dhiiri gelin' in Somali. That is what we should do when government officials are on the right track.
Good job, Somalilanders. Way to go!
I am very proud of the current improvement of Berbera Port. I am deadly sure that diaspora will do their best, they have replaced the ex government with the will of Somaliland Citizens in Somaliland wide, which were starving for change change change as we noticed in Berbera Port the forehead of Somaliland.
