Hargeisa (Somalilandpress)- Somcable has released a press release based on their progress of the Optic Fiber Cable project. Somcable talked about their plans on recruitment process as well as how they want to prioritize the Somaliland job seeker graduates should be our first option in recruiting.

Somcable spokes person the Director of Business Development Mr. Yusuf Abdalla said that we are very excited about this project, “We will announce an open day for recruitment on the press very soon, this day is for registration, we want to involve local recruitment agencies for different regions in Somaliland there will also be a tests for the different levels of jobs available, most importantly we are planning to create a permanent training facility that specializes ITC so that as we roll out our network there will always be a plenty of jobs within our organization as well as the other Telcom industry in Somaliland and in this region.
this project is a symbol of development for Somaliland and its people, as a company we have the capability to invest in much larger projects as we did in other countries in the region and middle east,” Mr. Yusuf says, he also added that other companies should also follow and invest in different sectors in a similar sizes as that will certainly create jobs and enhance the fragile economy of Somaliland.

Mr. Abdalla answered when asked which country will this cable be coming from and said, “the Red Sea is a highway for Submarine cables, in Djibouti alone there are at least 5 cables installed in the Red Sea International Submarine Cable Platform in Djibouti where we would like to connect to any on-ward connectivity for different parts of the world so it’s not a case of where are we pulling a cable from but in reality its connecting to which Submarine Cable for on-ward connectivity and this simply depends on who do we need to connect to on our on-ward connectivity with and obviously taking into consideration the cost of it as we would like to bring a cheaper services to our customers.” he also added that this will be based on an international agreements not as some portray it on some local news papers which we feel is rather shallow. We would like to finally thank the press and encourage them to be fact finding and transparent about the news they print, he concluded.

This Somcable contracted through Djibouti Telecomms Ministry making Somaliland only
retail Subscrbers instead of Somaliland becoming the main national shareholder through
the country's local Posts & Telecomms. is indeed a lingering question. This issue was already
disputed by the UCID Party leaders with sufficient logical recommendations and urging the
Kulmiye Govt.to review this huge project for the sake of the National security and
other direct local interests reasons etc.
The SL Ministry of Posts and Telecooms have to reexamine the whole contract and come up with
proper solutions addressing this Somaliland huge project not to simply let it go to Djibouti
to gain the lions share. BTW if SL finds solutions that will also have direct effects to all the
public/private 2522 which will change to the new Somcable systems after the SL owns direct
involvement of Somcable and completion of such project.
    Cheers.

    Cont'd.
Somaliland must endeavour to be a main key player in how to grap this project from both
Djibouti and Somalia and become the chief captain snatching some good deals away from
Djibouti. SL get smarter to become the chief supplier consult British or US experts and so forth.
Find ways how SL could compete through the English speaking World and so forth.
    Cheers.

I am very excited about employing and training the youth but I am skeptical about them (SomCable). I'll wait and see.

President Silaanyo needs to put the interest of Somaliland people and firms first. Foreign companies should have small share and Djibouti should be last in the last.

The Somaliland people who comments on the Website should be very carefull. We need to say the truth in any comment we made. The country interest should be before the personal interest. We don't want to listen the negative individual who do not realize that the damage they are make is not small. If at all there is conflict with this project, Somaliland government has the right to correct it either way.

Somcable Fiber Optic Company will make smaller Tele-Communication Corporations like Telesom, Telecom, Somtel, Nationlink Somalia very hard to compete with this Giant Fiber optic owned and hold by Somalilanders not like other Telecommunication Corporations which there shares or will is held by outsiders and Crusaders.

Somcable will change the impossible to possible by employing very hard talent young eager to learn thus will reduce the un-employment rate which staggering point, and crusaders dependency.

    Well done Somcable.
