Somaliland vice President Hon Abdurrahman Abdillahi Ismael (Sayli ) earlier today presided over a ceremony which saw the opening of ten new tarmac roads in Hargeisa in four precincts out of the five administrative precincts of Hargeisa city council.
Hon Saylici cut the tape to more than ten new tarmac in Kood-bur, Ahmed Dhagah, Gacan Libah and Mahmoud Haybe precincts in a ceremony officiated by Hargeisa City Council which has for the last three months been engaged with construction of the newly tarmacked roads.
Vice President Sayil’I said that the construction of these roads is a good example of the earlier promises the current KULMIYE government had pledged to implement during their campaigning.
Roads are an integral part of the transport system; our capital road network should be efficient in order to maximize economic and social benefits. They play a significant role in achieving national development and contributing to the overall performance and social functioning of the community, said the Vice President.
The Hargeisa City Council has for the past three months helped in the construction of 9.5km of tarmac roads although the Lack of access to good road networks is a major constraint on the incomes and welfare of the poor, quantifying the precise impact of this constraint is challenging.
The KULMIYE government has popularized this belief by emphasizing that for any economy to develop, transport must start off first for it to later stimulate other sectors to develop in an orderly fashion, with members of the public providing 40% of the funds used in construction of the new roads.

Development in Full gear Alhamdullilah.
40% of funds from Somaliland public this is fantastic considering Taxation was Key to building many roads ways during development. Our people donate instead of being taxed.
Good road = rapid economic growth.
I think there is a Chinese proverb that goes something like this: "If you want to develop a village build a road to the next village." They will start trading and that will improve the people's lives.
Now there is a serious dilemma in the house of Morgan. Silanyo has yet again formed another committee to help him decide whether he should put the 50 Dhiigshiil donated signs on Berbera-Hargeisa road or on these minor ten alleys. People need to learn the difference between highways, freeways, roads, streets and alleys.
When I went to Hargeisa, I was completely surprised what they referred to as "bridges"; roads and highways. They were just simple alleys, Irish crossings and bicycle lines.
It amazed me to see trucks on wheelbarrow lines and donkeys on bicycle lines and people were shouting "Somaliland way duushaay allaylee waxaad mooda Golden Gate bridge". It took them to construct an Irish crossing over the dried river bed five years…
Whenever it rains in Hargeisa, the dried river bed takes most cars with the floods and after the floods stop people use car tyres to cross and the car tyre "bridge" engineer charges them few Shilling for using his bridge. I actually have a video and anyone who wants to see is welcomed.
They constructed 10 alleys in two years…congratulations what a progressive "government"…it takes high school students to construct similar projects ten weeks in my world.
Why do you even go to Hargeisa……… There is nothing there for you.
The article did not mention anything about highways or bridges. Try reading first.
You couldn't build a bridge out of lego you bum.

Equals to xasid buuka and Cassidy buuka weligi ma aflaaxo. Keep on vomiting your silly mind.
Great news. I like the fact that things are actually moving forward. Before we used to hear about 1KM of paved road every year or so and now we are at a stage where there are 10 new paved roads.
It would have been good if SLPress could have got pictures of these new roads !!!!
