A fairly large trade expo was opened yesterday at Maansoor Hotel’s Hall that saw a hundred entrepreneurs exhibiting their franchise.
Dubbed Somaliland Business Fair, this is the second time Asal has sponsored the organization of the annual event, under the auspices of the National Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Commerce’s banner.
For the first time the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers, Toyota, has for the first time joined the fray and exhibited their pieces.
The Toyota Meryl group has anchored in Somaliland. Their business establishment premises have its construction underway hence is soon to be completed.
The head of the chamber of commerce Mr. Mohammed Shukri Hulul invited guests and shoppers to the fair saying that it is now the change of times for the better.
“The only thing that the ears of the world got wind of coming out of this region were sad stories of violence, displacements etc”, and added, “but now it is for the better”.
The treasury chief however quipped in a veiled attempt to coax and nudge the business fraternity to fully pay taxes said that he hailed “the chat dealers for duly paying their taxes”.
Chat is a mild narcotics leaves imported from Ethiopia that is widely chewed in the region.
Other dignitaries who spoke to the audience were cabinet ministers Hon. Abdillahi Geljire, Hon. Farah Elmi Geedole and Hon. Abdirahman Adami of the Fisheries, Commerce and Defence respectively.
They all had encouraging and congratulatory words for the Chamber of Commerce and the associated sponsors of the events.
Dahabshiil Group CEO Mr. Abdirahman M. S. Duale, Telesom’s marketing manager Mr. Abdirashid I. Noor and Somtel boss Mr. Awil Salah Abdi were notable technocrats seen at the fair’s opening day.
Notably a Miss. Merryll of the Toyota was one of the foreign country representative exhibitors. Other nations included companies from Ethiopia and Yemen.
Another notable player in the fair was the newly inaugurated Somaliland Beverage Industries (SPi) which won a lucrative deal with the world’s leading beverage company, Coca-Cola.

I don't see business in north Somalia apart from Dhiigshiil and Telesom. The next option is re-taxing the already narcotic business that was taxed by Ethiopia to the max.
What else is there? This Toyota talk is just another lie like all lies from Somaliland. It's just a small family car dealer based in tiny Djibouti not Toyota.
When you talk about Toyota, it has to be a plant or Toyota factory and in order for you to have that you need to be a developed nation with skilled workers, metal resources (cheaper than Japan/importing) and a country with good distribution and ports.
Most Toyota cars that make it to Africa and Middle Eastern markets are manufactured in Australia which has plenty of metals, so the Japanese said to themselves, why import it why not make it there and buy it directly and just export full cars.
The reason you have cars with steering on the right handside is because they from Australia which drives on the left side.
It is also worth knowing most Somaliland leaders and media adore the Ethiopians too much and think they are some sort of sacred thing even though Ethiopia keeps violating its borders.
Liyu police always cross into Somaliland and abuse people. They are inside Hargeisa collecting data and intelligence.
These folks are blind to all this. Take for example, this website did publish that news on the Somaliland guy winning some military recognition in the Ethiopian college.
Now look at Hadhwanaagnews/Sun:
Dawladda Itoobiya ayaa bogeeda wasaaradda arrimaha dibadda ku soo qaadatay sarkaal u dhashay Somaliland oo bilad dahab ah ku guulaystay ka dib markii uu kaalinta koowaad ka galay culuumta milatariga oo uu kaga jiray kuuliyad ku taala dalkaas.
And Sun takes the same news from DailyEthiopia
http://www.dailyethiopia.com/index.php?aid=1213
But DailyEthiopia just copied from Somalilandpress and just rearranged their article.
So how come they give credit to Ethiopians to something their own people wrote or made?
It's because they worship the Ethiopians too much. http://somalilandpress.com/somaliland-12-military…
Too many lies and too many foreign butt-kissing…its something any Somali with dignity should not be part of.
kayse i hope your family dies of cancer.
Enough said… true
habaarka wa lagu yaqanaa wixi amiinsan Somaliland but habar/cursing always goes back to you and I don't have that kind of hate to wish you nothing but success under a prosperous Somalia. I am not your enemy your enemy is the one telling you he is your friend, refuses to recognize you and instead sends Liyu police to rape your women and call your businesses "contraband".
Mar baad ka ilbaaxi doontiin waxan oo xuqdaad ah iyo walaacaan idin dhaago tiiray.
Allah bisinka that's pure evil waxaan cajuusada maxay ahayd looool
You made me laugh.
