The Chairman of the Somaliland quality control commission Mr. Said Saleban Mire Speaking to the media yesterday during a press conference elaborated on the scope of damage caused by unrefined petroleum products which was imported into the country recently.
During the Press conference the Chairman of the quality control commission said the unrefined petroleum products had caused enormous damage to local business all over the country; he added that the company which had imported the unrefined had been ordered to cease the importation of petroleum products into the country with immediate effect.
Mr. Mire, ‘I want to inform all companies that import petroleum products into the country that they should abide by government order (Ref: SQCC/XG/0335/12) which was issued by the Chairman of the quality control commission on the 29/02/2012 and states as follows; All companies importing petroleum products into the country should produce Certificate of Quality.
The Chairman of the quality control commission went on to say due to unrefined petroleum products imported into the country recently, unspecified number of factories have incurred loss due to technical hitch caused by the usage of the unrefined petroleum.
Mr. Mire added that with power production sector been the most affected this is due to the generators they use were rendered out of services since they had used the unrefined petrolouem,not to mention the transport sector which was also affected.
The Chairman of the quality control commission declared as of today I inform all companies that are deal with the importation of petroleum products should have a Certificate of Quality this in accordance with government circular (Ref: SQCC/XG/0335/12) issued by the former finance minister Hon Mohamed Hashi, in collaboration with the minster of Commerce Hon Abdirisaq Khalif and the Chairman of the Somaliland quality control commission.
