After nearly 8 years of confusion, corruption, mismanagement, and deliberately thwarting the rule of law and the national constitution, on June 26 2010, the Somaliland electorate have spoken and decided on their country’s future. At the right time, when the need for change was highly inevitable, Mr. Ahmed Silaanyo was elected as the President of Somaliland Republic. He was elected at a time when Somaliland was heading into the wrong direction and seemed that the people of Somaliland were leaving behind a period full of hope and expectations and entering an environment of fear and uncertainty.

The winning of the presidential elections by President Ahmed Silaanyo and his political party (Kulmiye) was a win for democratic values, nation spirit and solidarity. It was a win for strength of character, ability to take moral responsibility, resilience and re-emergence of hope. In fact, it was a great win for all peace & development loving Somalilanders.

The people of Somaliland had given the President the political capital, the legislative means and a full mandate to serve the nation and the national interest in the first place, to do things better and to act and operate according to the rule of law and country’s constitution.

However, when President Ahmed Silaanyo took the office he inherited one of the most unfavourable socio-economical and political situations in our country. The State Treasury and the Bank were entirely looted by corrupt officials and senior figures of the former government. The scale of the mistakes and negligence of the former government was all too apparent. The former administration left behind a bankrupt country and a nation in limbo. The economy and public sector was about to fall apart, no government department was functioning as it should’ve been. The public morale was very low and the confidence in government was at its lowest point ever.

Re-gaining Public Confidence and Rebuilding the Country:

Immediately after President Ahmed Silaanyo came to power, he understood clearly unless he makes the necessary changes in the many areas where the Somaliland’s citizens were dissatisfied, it would be very difficult to regain the public confidence. One of the key priorities of the newly elected President was to win back the people’s confidence, trust and belief in the political system, in government as well as in the democratic system and social justice. He put together a Cabinet of all talents and exceptional abilities with strategic visions and a clear policy agenda. He came up with new policy initiatives, a new government with new priorities based upon an effective, responsive and transparent Cabinet.

He started to combat and reverse the corruption and mismanagement that set in during Rayal’s administration. He created a sort of contract between State & Citizens, based upon responsibilities as well as rights. He introduced many innovative ways of getting involving the mainstream of the society into development, politics and achieving of social objectives.

Looking back on the past two years that this government was in power, it is so far so good.  The way in which President Ahmed Silaanyo’s government has inspired the hope, expectations and life prospects of Somaliland people is undeniably a flash of the kind of cunning, quality and brilliance of leadership and statesmanship that we are unaccustomed to witnessing from any of Somaliland’s previous Presidents. The current government is only for 27 months in power, however, in different areas there are quite tangible and visible changes and improvements occurring; for example education, foreign policy, healthcare, agriculture, defence, transport and water supply. We are witnessing that every government department is developing and progressing at an amazingly fast pace.

The truth has to be told, the current Somaliland government has exceeded and outshined against all expectations. In a relatively short time, what the government of President Ahmed Silaanyo has achieved is very impressive and in reality far more than the entire period of President Riyale’s reigns. A sense of morality, ethicality, decency and simply fulfilling their national obligations and social responsibilities are the foundation and driving forces that makes this government so successful. The government of Somaliland Republic believes fully in exploring of all options (socio-economic and diplomatic advancement) to achieve its goals which best meets the needs and challenges facing the Somaliland people today.

Conclusion:

President Ahmed Silaanyo has both the motive and opportunity to look back with satisfaction into the performance and the results realized by his government during past two years. Somaliland citizens should understand the unfavourable circumstance in which this government started when they took the office, where they have come from and where they are now. We need also to see and recognize the undeniable progress in different fields and the substantial achievement this government has made in a relatively short time.

Without a doubt, President Ahmed Silaanyo is a visionary leader with comprehensive understanding of world politics, an inspirational leader who is a credible role model to emulate within the Horn of African region and beyond. With grace and impeccable judgment he leads our country into the right direction. He is a veteran politician hardened by experience, a national hero who never recoils from the enemies when the name and honour of his country and people are at stake. He is driven by patriotism, devotion to duty and sense of social responsibility. He is a leader with a Mission and Mandate who gives a Voice to a Voiceless Nation.

Silaanyo and the Kulmiye party are the besting things that ever happened to Somaliland. Since they took over, the changes made are too enormous to mention. My major concern, though is the continuing lack of foreign investment that could make meaningful difference in people's lives and the existence of an overwhelming population who has become very reliant on handouts from concern relatives from abroad which esentially has promoted economic inactivity and finiantial decline.

    • Puntlandgeezer(PIS) says:

i don't wanna mess up your little nagging but keep going while i go and make love to my wife. I see you later mate!!!

  2. Buuxiye says:

Respect to the Old man who walks among his civilians without AMISOM Tanks :)

Foreign investment would come sooner if the Somalilanders began investing in their own country specially in developing small industries.

    - Manufacturing canned goods like tomato pure, fruit cocktails, butter, ghee, meats etc
    - Develop the frankincense product into a viable industry
    - Develop an agricultural sector to at least meet the needs of the population

$500Million per year enters Somaliland =====> 100% Leaves as Dollars to import into Somaliland.

That is a lot of $money and most countries that we import from would be obliged to enter into TRADE agreements and grant us access to their markets. Even 25% export agreement would Safe Somaliland $125Million a year which could go into it's reserves.

Alternatively Private industries have a huge potential in capitalising on that ZERO Export status currently in place with most countries we import from. It is a matter of time.

Somaliland's millionaires will continue to increase the opportunities are endless.

  3. HAWIYE WARRIOR says:

Bakara market most probably makes more revenue for the government of Somalia than the whole of Somaliland does for Silaanyo if that's called progress then i hate so see what a rainy day looks like

  4. Kayse says:

Somaliland region is broke and they relay on handouts from Dhiigshiil and its Islamists employees. They can't even take the trash out let alone do anything associated with government. They gone recognition crazy and if you go to Hargeisa, before sunrise prayers, they come out with megaphones screaming "waaaaaaaaaa iiiiiixtiiraafeeeeeeeeeeey………..waaa iiixtiiraafeeeey" and they all answer back "walee waan duulnaay………..walee waan duulnaay"

Kids who were born when they declared "independence" from Darood dominance while taking other Daroods with them; are no left stuck in no where….21 years and above and no where to go.

They got bored of the five hotels and the million NGOs. The little high school they consider a university is no place for them either so they migrating in force, why not in a society where unemployment is the highest in the world at 95%.

Where the whole revenue is mere $50m, that's how much the Somali government spends a day on AMISOM because they can and they have the financial means and prospect.

The little tribal region can't even find tax payers in a region where unemployment is 95% so they came up with a new method called "Keen Ducaadi".

I gave them $10 at the airport not to stamp my lovely Australian passport with their meaningless and unrecognized office stamp hehehehehehe. Shyt is like the one from Woolworth and Office Works.

When you go there just offer them mere $10 and tell them not to stamp it and give them extra $5 not to even touch your passport.

The place is a disaster and many are just there because they angry with the south and Siad Bare who was gone for two decades…they still think he is alive.

Morgan house can't even clean its front yard kids and your talking about a nationhood. Buuxiye is in lala land like the rest of his Garadag villagers.

SL income is $50m, just look at their budget….education ministry gets $3m, one college in Mogadishu costs more than $10m.

    • Hodo says:

Guys have you all seen what this scumbag kayse is obsessed with? 1. Morgan House 2. Xashiis 3. Dhahabshiil 4. Qaradag 5. Hj 6. hersi Gaab 7 Somaliland. Kkkkkkkkkkkkkk. This scumbag makes me laugh always when I read his nonsensical postings which are full of typos and grammatically insane at times.

Kayse let me tell you this if Hargeisa is full of xashiis, Well then I have a good paying job for you if you are willing to take it. The description of the job in is as follows:- cleaning wherever you see the xashiis you keep on mention every time with your stinking mouth and making sure the city and it's surroundings are clean as you may wish them to be. Qualification needed is just a terrible stinking fagash mouth like yours which makes you even a better candidate. Apply this may save the Aussie some welfare dollars.

Mr scumbag Morgan Fagash left no home of his in Hargeisa for your information. Typical fagash thinking whereby the citizens property "belongs to them" when they are in power. That myth is gone and for your info No fagash is going to regain any power in any Somalia Mr "unionist"
Your Ancester afweyne for once was lucky to snatch those powers due to the naïveté of the Somalis at the time but for now this Somalis are of a different species.
A good example is the leeway you are getting at somaliland press spewing you venom on daily basis. Did you have that during your ancestor afweynes reign? Enjoy it, it's called freedom of speech and its one of the pillars of Snm courses of getting rid of that cousin of yours Af qadmuni afweyne. Please get out of the box.

Soon will be back with further tutorial for you Mr scumbag.

      • Kayse says:

        Hodo walaal,

I know I rise your blood pressure like Silanyo and his al Shabab commander Hersi Gaab (aka dwarf aka mini-evil hehehe).

Can you deny Hargeisa is the most trashville in Somalia? Can you deny bunch of guys who can't take out simple trash can not also achieve what you think they will? Everyone knows that's Morgan's private house and you call it President villa. It is such a shameful thing to say. Why can't you guys build a simple state house in 21 years?

Your just too emotional to see my choice of words and language and if anyone needs a lesson in English, trust me it would be you and your Foreign Council minister.

Don't commit suicide like the rest of the widows walaal, Somali national army won't punish you, once in Harta Sheikh is enough.

Hersi Gaab, Al Shabab, Dhiigshiil, Morgan's house, trash are all terms known for Somaliland and of course the man who named after himself female privates.

    • hodan says:

      Kayse,

You are so full of sh**… if anybody needs cleaning it is you.
What revenue are you talking about, you are a bunch of thieves and warloads running around with stolen money. What do you have in Mogadishu? Take care of your donkeys and stinking alleys. I think Morgan built a house for your and thats why you keep on talking about him. somaliland has no time for you so stop your propaganda and concentrate on your welfare handouts your looser!

      • osman Qaal says:

        hodan,
So far you're winning the debate over Kayse (the loser)…

    • sahra says:

kayse- don't you know all of them are english literature teachers.and the unfortunate thing is that the standard they're setting for other people they can not meet them self every time I view one their comments I detected spelling errors and full grammatical mistakes but the differences them and us is we rather not assume what the level of eduction they have obtain but simple honest mistake they made after all this is our second language we're not writing essay rather simple comment and who cares if any of us make mistake here or there as long as you or me understood the comment and if you did not understand what the person was conveying to you move to the next one no need to take cheap shot at person when you do that you're illustrating to all of us how low self-esteem person you are and last not least kayse knows enough english for the love god.

      • sahra says:

        correction-for the love of god

  5. amal says:

Somaliland is like Scotland but a poor version and both with 4 million people approx. Very interesting Scotland wants independence like Somaliland and will soon vote on independence. My prediction is that they will stay with the union because they benefit from it more than anything.

  6. amal says:

As for Silaanyo, I think Somalilanders needs to give this man a break because he may not be perfect or is a power hungry for his clan, but he has been elected and is doing whatever he can to address our poor economy. I hope he will also pursue a very successful foreign policy that will brings about a change. He is an old man, so lets hope his old age will enable him to take wise decisions and actions.

All the best for Silaanyo and Somaliland, we count on you.

    • amal says:

      ps
      Well done president

  7. osman Qaal says:

II strongly believe Sillanyo is extremely a competent leader. He's elected through a fair and free democratic elections. A lot of people may dislike him because his strong willpower and determination..
I'm 100% certain Sillanyo goal is to leave an unforgettable legacy for Somalilanders as his tenure ends..

  8. mohamed cheers says:

Wow! so much praise for Ato Silaanyo!. Despite pros and foes, afterall he's the only
popularly elected landslide by all standards of the whole political spectrum of de jure Somaliland
since 1993. I could go thus far that under the Kulmiye Govt, so far so good. True that many positive
things happened and hopefully would continue to build upon. However, I wouldn't weigh heavily
bashing on the former President Riyaale's Udub(Gop) party Govt since Riyaale himself tookover
corrupted dictatorship Regime in great distress in 2002 at the sudden death of his Predecessor
Ahn M.I.Egal. In my view, the former President Riyaale was a real statesman and honest politician
who not only saved but salvaged Somaliland to remain in tact until he was defeated in real fair
contest, when he honourably and with graceful dignity handedover the power to his successor Ato Silaanyo.
    Cheers.

    • mohamed cheers says:

      Cont'd p2 to above.
Furthermore, I don't understand why now the Author chose to bash Riyaale's rule when
at this time round Ato Silaanyo and Riyaale are thick buddies working together to further
the interests of de jure Somaliland when Silaanyo is pro London and Riyaale pro Paris.
      Cheers.

  9. Kayse says:

Silanyo is not only a criminal but he is also the weakest Council/governor leader in the north during its 21 years of protest. All he does is form committees after committees. He can't even make a single decision. Can you guys count how many committees he formed to help him clean the front yard of Morgan's private residential home that the few delusional consider "Madaxtooyo"?

Just google Somaliland committee and you will be amazed how many useless committees he formed in which he repeats four Councilors over and over again….Hersi Gaab….Samaale….Shire..Abdirasaq.

If his wife can't make the call he goes to Hersi Gaab, if Hersi Gaab can't make the little unrecognized decision they get Dhiigshiil to make it.

Only the villagers of Garadaag are mad about the wanted criminal, that is why he was smuggled even into Gabiley….he prayed Aseyr in a Mosque and fled back to Morgan's house.

Dahir Riyale was far more productive for the secessionists and even been as far as Las Annod…this warlord can't even visit his Garadag village because Boqor Burmadow will take him out.

He is hiding with fleeing al Shabab members including the son of the religious Council affairs.

  10. Khaatumo citizen says:

Sii'layo is the last reminding warlord in Somalia, he took few pictures with disgraceful Haglotosie and they think he went to Mars lool
no hard feelings to Sii'lanyo followers thou I know most of my Habr jeclos friends worship him.

    • Daallo/Sland says:

for what I learnt so far there is no major problem between Dhulbahante and Habr yonis and we both don't like silanyo who knows we may become ally in the future.

      • Khaatumo citizen says:

LOOL Daallo true , actually my other side of the fam are Habr Yoonis, reer Daallos

  11. Noorismail says:

somaliland should ask the kuwati army for help if needed in the future , the saudis have made a habit of shooting somali citizens at borders , which all somalis have a fixed trible system which is very easy to locate a famous person related to him

  12. Noorismail says:

hawayi and isaaq both had swords the hawayi sword sliped , the isaaq said i will spare you then the hawqyi took this sword then the wasangai shot his arrow at the hawayi and won

  13. Kayse says:

Just an update to real Somalis. The guy they talking about as leader with a mission will no longer be known with his silly name, instead we will all call him Mr Female Privates, I mean its ceeb to say his name dee. Governor Female privates: A wanted warlord article is coming soon.

    • amal says:

Ceeb! isku xishood don't go that far to a Somali and a Muslim man! Silaanyo means lizard!

      • amal says:

*** Don't go that far at him

    • hodan says:

SHAME ON YOU LOOSER, GO GET A LIFE

    • kaboon says:

kayse moory@n. is getting ore crazy everyday. his mother must be proud of her mory@n son

    • Khaatumo citizen says:

Kayse you're out of your mind, ceeb, ceeb, abti odayga ha ku fogaanin dee lool

      • Kayse says:

loooooooooooooooooooooool walee amal wa xariifaad. She did the full research on his name unless the sister is a lizard expert hehehehehehehehe amaley thanks dee inar.

Khaatumo abti kuwan la yabay odayga waxay uu bixiyeen, I think its shameful of them to use such name.

Siilanyo fans are about to commit suicide…

  14. Hargaisaawi says:

Walaahay dadka qaar cabaad baa ka soo hadhay. Reer Somaliland sheekada inoo wada qoladan waxoodu waa hal bacaad lagu lisay. Afkay kaga hadhay. Qunyar socde qodixi ma mudo. Intay inagu mashquul sanyahiin baa dhan walba xaaluf ka geli, kkkk!
