I agree with you on the part that we have to keep our graduates at home that is good for the countries developments. But the question is can the Government absorb all this the answer is No. It's you and I and all other Somalilanders in diaspora to put our limited resources and build industries that will hire many of this young Gradus. Let us start the conversation now :DB)

Amen to that AAmm even if we can set up a loans program for start ups. Graduation season, so many articles about graduates nice to hear. Industries and lets also find a way to link our business with those of back home for services that they can provide.

I think Bedria and AAmm have it right. The Central Bank of Somaliland, the local business community and the diaspora need to come up with ways to encourage grassroots entrepreneurship at the municipal level. The major employers, in telecommunication industry, remittance and manufacturing need to come up with ways to GROW their business to create more local jobs. If this means they need the diaspora to invest in their companies by buying shares, I am willing to invest.

These companies should also help these graduates gain more work experience by providing them with internship and coop opportunities. This part won't cost these companies anything and they could potentially benefit from the new ideas generated by these new graduates (win-win).

The Central Bank should also begin the process of setting aside some capital for start-ups. The truth is many of us in the diaspora either have or are in the process of building homes back home whether it be in Borama, Burco, Hargeisa, Ceerigabo or las anod. One option the bank could use collateral! For example, if I want a loan then I would use my home as collateral to ensure the bank that I wasn't planning to run away with the borrowed money. Another helpful tool the local business community could offer is mentor-ship! How to start a new business? What is required? Things to know and common pitfalls? etc

Dispare to economic growth. Many of you suggested great ideas. But the question I have for all of you is can we keep this conversion to the next level? Or just talk and do nothing.

AAmm – if the government can not absorb or accommodate the number of new grads. They may probably let them work as interns that may earn them some monies and a life time hand-on experience or get them scholarships and sent them abroad for further education.

About diaspora building industries that will hire many of these young grads. This is a good ideas, but can we put together a group of trustworthy business minded individuals to be share holders?
