The Somaliland National Election commission has announced that the long awaited local government elections will be postponed if the current impasse on cab 20 continues this was revealed during a press conference held at the Electoral commission headquarters.
Speaking to the media during the press conference the chairman of the National Electoral commission Mr. Isse Yusuf H Mohamed (hamari) ,said considering the notable potential obstacles which are categorized into the following two main headings (I) Legal Framework concerns, such as the Amendments of Law # 14 and 20, which affects the ballot paper design and polling station arrangement among other factors given the increased number of political contestants and candidates and second the unavailability of funds promised by donors the upcoming elections won’t be held in time.
Mr. Isse said both this issues determine the critical process of pre-election activity hence the prologue of early conclusions of legal reform in order to have proper electoral planning and implementation.
NEC has highlighted the effects of both issues before and also about the short comings in the deadline dates hence legally request for the Head of State for prompt action.
It is to this effect that the President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud (Silanyo) has NOTIFIES both the Upper House (Guurti) of our National Assemblies and Parliament for the second time to take heed of the matter and nobly do the necessary so as to operate within the prescribed regulations of the Statutory Acts of the constitution of the land.

The current NEC incumbents are experts in their field and when all the necessary groundwork
are in place, then the elections would take place. There's No need to put the blame on Silaanyo.
