Somaliland: Up to 300 Ethiopian rebels surrounded

September 14, 2010   ·   19 Comments

MOGADISHU (Somalilandpress) — Authorities in the self-declared republic of Somaliland say their troops have surrounded up to 300 Ethiopian rebels who entered the territory illegally.

Somaliland’s military chief Gen. Elmi Robleh Furur said Tuesday the men were part of Ethiopia’s Ogaden National Liberation Front.

He displayed weapons, military training manuals written in Amharic and Somali, and a wad of Eritrean bank notes allegedly seized from two men who had become separated from the group.

Eritrea has long been accused of financing and supporting rebels in its much larger neighbor, Ethiopia, with whom Somaliland enjoys good relations.

Somaliland has declared itself independent of war-ravaged Somalia in 1991 but is not recognized by any other state.

ONLF terrorists are the enemies of Somaliland. They are the same people who were backing Siad Bare when he was killing women and children in Somaliland while Ethiopia opened its gates for our people while Djibouti blockaded them.

Now the tables have turned they crying for help…hell no mercy!

And as for the rest we are coming for them one by one.

Finish these terrorists. This is a good proof that the Eritrean government is working day and night to distrupt the good relationship between Ethiopia and Somaliland.

Somalis are brothers of one another, Those of you who are promoting killings remember they are Daroods who also inhibit the Somaliland you are claiming so this is going to be a bigger problem.

Your meaning is clear that terrorists from Darood should not be punished. My friend grow up, any individual person or group who are engaging to disturb the peaceful tanquility and stability of Somaliland regardless of tribalism should be dealt with iron fist. This terrorists should be annihilated completely once and for all.

You need to brush your English then try to insult a region that can take over your little French camps within two hours.

Djibouti has no choice but to comply with Somaliland and Ethiopia. Send those two 1940 French helicopters, good boys.

ONLF needs to reassess its strategies or it stand to loose much more in confronting Somaliland and its people who don't interferre with your activities. Respect Somaliland's people, territory, and neutrality. Be a jolly good neighbor because It is not in your self interest to add Somaliland and its people to the list of your so called "Enemies".

In addition I just wanted to mention one more thing. Somalilanders are mature people capable of decerning right from wrong, justice from injustice promoting peace and staility in a region cursed with wars and instability for the last 3 decades. We are humble and forgiving people who are bound by the wisdom and laws of their religion (Islam), their Xeers (cultural constitutional laws) and rule of law, from Awdal to Sanaag to Berbera to LaasAnood.

This is our legacy despite terrible prosecutions we have endured and what we are well known for. I know some of you are passionate in supporting your country, but it is not wise to do it by urterring insults or promoting violence. Let those who are immersed in clanism and ill wishes benefit from their hatred as they have done for the last 20 years. We should not lower our standards or belittle ourselves to their level or we will end up in similar fashion. Be grown up about it and respect the peace and the good will we are well known for. This has been our strenght and that is why God has granted us peace, tranquility and good governance for so long in region riddle with terrorist, tribalist and tyrants.
