I was never a fan of Mr Bulhan and believe me all the students in UoH want him gone. The guys is not as good as you people think he is. Just because he is a "Dr" you all think he can make miracules.

I look forward to the new Chancellor who will replace him.

Ps, the rest of the management board should be gone not only him. The students at UoH have long complained about their misuse and abuse of the system, funds and university.

What do you know about DR. Bulhan.? You say that he is not as good as he seems. What a baseless idea.
I suggest you do your research before such a stupid and disrespectful statement. He is a doctor who is well
respected not just in somaliland, but all of North America. He did not promise miracles for UOH. Miracles
do not happen over night. He went there who help his people, and to give back to his community.

good luck you guys with your new chancellor!

Kayse, you are wrong. As a teacher here in Hargeisa University I have nothing but positive reports of Dr Bulhan. Every student I have ever spoken to has been positive about him. I have found him to be helpful, a visionary, and made changes that needed to be made. Somaliland needs a lot more people like him, especially in the area of education.
Make no mistake about it, this is a big loss and at the moment the University is struggling. That is clear.

If he is what you say he is and had confidence with himself and his job, he would not walk away from such an important institution for a struggling nation. Only people who are unwanted and no longer confident with what they do and produce, run away. He is a runaway and I dont respect quiters.

Kayse, now what you say is a different point. First you claimed the students didn't like him which is false.
Now you claim he has run away.
Can I ask you? Do you know Dr Bulhan? Are you at the University of Hargeisa? I can answer yes to both of those.
Sadly it seems that he was unable to carry out his work effectively. It is sad to say but the University of Hargeisa is in danger of losing a lot of the progress it has made. I have met no-one as capable as Dr Bulhan and most of the others seem to be a lot about money, power and clans. Sad but true.

I live in the UK born and raised and never had I been so proud to be from Somaliland, because of his work I am determined now to return home and work to improve the nation as much as I can. Bulhan is a legend and he change my life in minutes imagion the impact he must of had on his students. Kayse you dont what your talking about mate.

people around the world give respect and honor to their scholars and religious people, Somaliland will not be a developed nation unless they being grateful to their educators. it is not unusual that we see tribal motived criticisms here, and it will take time that our culture re-heals from the destruction and wounds.

    • middleground says:

Scholars and religious people can also be teachers in every field possibly imaginable. Just look at the Islamic scientists during the *Golden Age of Islam* and the discoveries and developments they made of which we are still are making use of their knowledge to this day. They were mostly *polymaths.*
Even the well-known Imam Ibn Taiymiyyah was a chemist.

We just need more role-models like that, who learn everything from religion to everything else in the world around them and excel.

      • middleground says:

The only good thing about having a tribal-competition in Somaliland would be to see who can make the *most* scientists and scholars in their tribe, and watch the country develop. We just need to be smart and make use of this tribalism while its there.

Hey folks whatever DR. BULHAN was and did here he's finally resigned and someone else will
fill his post and the UOH will not close its door. Let's all wish him and the UOH good luck period.
    Cheers.

  13. Concerned Citizen says:

It is sad to see Dr. Bulhan go. No wonder though that this and so many others will happen if this government would not stop infusing tribalism in to every sphere…..All the bad things currently happening in SL are the complement of this 'EGOISTIC" government fatalism and its discriminatory policy it embarked on.
Alas, now the people of SL who were averring for change get the opposite instead.

    • mohamed says:

It's natural for changes to take place. Surely DR. Bulhan or else have a beginning and ending
sessions. Looks like his time to go has come and that's it. I don't see his resignation and another
taking over as problem. Mr. Concerned Citizen.Pls. get over it and let the UOH to keep moving forward
      as usual.
      Cheers.

This is very Sad news, it will greatly discourage many people who would like to come and share their expertise and help Somaliland's institutions. Most of us in the diaspora saw Dr. Bulhan as
a trailblazer who inspired many people when he made the ultimate sacrifice, leaving a tenured position at the University of Boston in order to help his people. He is indeed one of a kind, only Allah can reward your generosity Dr. Bulhan. JazakAllah.

    Thank you.
