One of the Somaliland most prominent opposition party UDUB has today announced that they will boycott the upcoming local elections which are due to be held on the 28th of November this year.
This was revealed by the party’s Presidential aspirant Mr. Ali Mohamed Waran –cadde during a press conference which was held at Hotel Kaah, Hargeisa today.
The Presidential aspirant said the reason which prompted his party to boycott the upcoming local elections was due a sinister plot to discredit his party which is been waged by registration of parties committee(PPR&VC ).
Mr. Waran-cadde told reporters that the registration of parties committee last week had announced that his candidacy was null and void because he had failed to fulfill the rules set by the registration.
The PPR&VC statement revoking the waran-cadde candidacy was released on 4 September 2012, and it stated that the candidature of both Waran’ade and his deputy has been revoked because the party had contravened Article 11 of the constitution.
Mr. Waran –cadde said he was informing to the people of Somaliland and the international community that the current atmosphere in which the registration body is conducting the process does not allow free and fair election to take place in the country.
The decision by the PPR&VC was prompted by the fact that the Waran-cadde candidature did not emanate from the party’s general assembly, the registration body further asked the party leadership to respect the laws of the country.
Other unconfirmed reports say the former President of Somaliland Dahir Rayale Kahin and also the chairman of UDUB had sent a letter to the President Silanyo requesting him to postpone the upcoming elections.
Lastly the presidential aspirant said that they plan to take the matter to court in the coming days to contest the PPR&VC decision.

Boycotting is not necessary. The PPR&VC decision was made before the Udub final amendments
were adopted and passed to the PPR&VC inorder to equip the PPR&VC with the new Udub Party
amendments of certain clauses which caused the rejection of the PPR&VC in the first place.
I Think that the PPR&VC and the UDub party are now in better positions to correct any misunderstandings and that it's not yet too late to reach consenus on the misunderstandings.
Besides, the elections are handled by the NEC and if Udub and the PPR&VC can't come to
conclusional agreement, then, Udub should talk to the NEC instead of taking a long protracted
route to the judicial branch. I see the whole issue as misunderstanding which can easily be
rectified between the PPR&VC and Udub. At any rate, if the NEC is all set to conduct the elections
as planned it's naive on the Udub party to make unnecessary hindering crisis at this late stage.
Cheers.
I just love the fact that each and everyone of them isolates himself or herself if they don't get things their way. Boycotting, isolation, protesting, mourning and grieving are all right terms to describe what they ("Somalilanders") have became.
Just to get them crying again here is my story of Qawdhan-Mariam, I call this short novel The Life of a "Somalilander" aka Qawdhan-Mariam (half Somali-half Ethiopian).
After Qawdhan warmly welcomed Jack, the backpacker to "Somaliland", he could not wait to tell his exciting day about his friend, "Hassan Bakele Ciidi ka Tabtee".
Qawdhan: Warrrrr Hassanoow Hassanoow…maanta gacaanta lagugu ma salamaayee bal waran dee?
Hassan: aaaaar maxaa dhacaay ninyahoow?
Qawdhan: War Ambassador ayaan ku soo salamaay ka yimii caraadi Ingiiriiskee…gacaanta waxaa la saraayaa Beertaa Xooriyada MIG-ga aagtiisee…ileen wa gacaanti Ixtiiraafkee…ka leexoo
Hassan: Allayleeeeeee war bad siidaa dee war ma ixtiiraafkii baa soo dhacaay? Allaa hayeey toloow calankaaygii mayeey………..Samooo ku war samoooooooo ku war sareyeeyoo calankii suubaana.
Qawdhan: War bal uukaadi yaan lagu maqliinee hadi kale warku Konfuur bu gadhii donayoo aarmaay inaa so weraaraan dee inagoona aqoonsiigiba ina so gadhiin.
Hassan: Shhhhhhh…walee caaqliga weyn ban kugu jeeclahaay aar tolow gacaantaa maad ku tabaan Jaadkii (marduuf)?
Qawdhan: Allaa miyaad walaatay war wax lagu tabanaayaa ma jirtee inaa keen MADAXTOOOOYADAA!!!
Hassan: Waar Madaxtooyadu waxbaa sheegii maysoo…so kuwi yidhi mahaa kalay dooroshoo Madaxtooyo, mid deegmo, mid xafadeed, mid maqsiin (rooms), ila mid Kiijo (Kitchen) qabanee mahaa? Waxnaa keeni waydayee, inaga daa oo inakeen xaafiiska Dahabshiil…ileen halkas ba laga xukumaa wadankee.
Qawdhaan: War doorashooyiinku waxbaa ma hayaan, imisaa sanaay qaalin (ink) inaga marmariinaayeen farahaa….allaylee farahii madooba baa ii casaaday aar waxaba mooda naagahi gaaladee ciidiyaha casa (nail polish)…
Hassan: Dooroshooyinku waxay ahayeen riwayaaad loo dhigayeey reer Galbeedkee….sideed adigu inuugu so heshaay AMASADOORKA…tollow maa wuxu fadhiyeey AMBASADOOR HODHEEL (Ambassador Hotel)?
Qawdhan: Aaar maantu soo degayoo, waxan isku af garanaay aqoonsi buuxa….dowladi Ingiriskuuna waxay balan qadaay inay inoo so celiiso Mo Farah.
Hassan: Oo Mo-gasiina muxu aha ma waxaa ka wada MOYEE oo Farah qooray? Nin yahow wadankuna waa wada moye iyo tiib ee wax kale so celiyaa ku dheh.
Qawdhan: Shhhhhhh aar yeey Duriyaduu ku maqliine hadi kale waxaa inagu dhici dontaa KACDOON siidi Liibiya…Tunusiya ee miyad rabtaa Deyrtaa Duriyaada?
Hassan: Oo maxad ka wadaa Deyrtaa Duriyaada?
Qawdhan: Ma oogi TV-gan ka maqlaay Arab Spring marka inaga waxay inoo noqon dee Deyrta Duriyaada.
Qawdhan-Mariam and Hassan Bakele Ciidi Ka Tabtee could not help but call everyone with a megaphone in Hargeisa's freedom park, where he plans to mount his golden hand next to the fallen Somali MIG.
kayse no mates crazy as usual lol
Bad move. The party still exists, however, this is not a presidential election cycle, this if for local council. Until UDUB sorts out its future candidates, it is better to let former President Dahir Rayale Kahin lead the campaign for the local elections. I don't understand what Wara'Adde's status has to do with local elections. The party is registered with the National Election Council, and didn't have to go thorough what all the new parties had to go through.
A very bad move. Smacks of poor losing. If UDUB is afraid of not coming through the local council elections to become one of the three parties for future presidential and parliamentary elections. Then there will always be a case to made in the courts.
But the party wasted so much time bickering that it is playing catch up, and furthermore, it has lost most of its young active people. The NEC issue is an excuse for poor political leadership.
Kayse,
U have talent .
Use it constructively.
I ask one question to all somalilanders, What is wrong with UDUB party?
Weerar, too long in government, too complacent, too many egos and people who all think they can and will be the next president of Somaliland. Sadly, the young turks have fled, and the party is left with the likes of Waran'Adde, an able man, but not the future. The core support is still there, remember UDUB has supported from every corner of Somaliland, just like KULMIYE and UCID, sadly, we are heading for regional and community parties. Not a good sign
