Somaliland: The Last Day of Campaigning for UDUB

June 21, 2010   ·   8 Comments

HARGEISA (SomalilandPress) –The ruling party UDUB finalized its campaigning trial in a major event this morning. Their campaigning which went on for seven days entered its last day and the party gave a big closure. In an event held at Beerta Horiyada in Hargeisa the largest number of supporters gathered around to hear what the leaders have to say in their last speech. Also similar gathering took place in other regions of the country. These events were the last of serous of campaigning trials in all regions in the last three weeks.

President Daahir Riyaale Kaahin the party’s candidate made along speech to the people who were gathered. The president highlighted the main achievement of his party during the last eight years of his presidency. “Our achievement is visible enough for every body to see. We developed basic services such as health and education. In addition, we were able to restore law and order through out the country, there is no contribution from other parties in this”, said president Riyale.

The president strongly criticized the opposition, especially Kulmiye, by their agenda. He described them as revenge seekers rather then leaders. Due to the fact that they vow in public to seek revenge, their plan will divide the nation’s unity and create uncertainty argued the president. “UDUB is a party of the nation and for the nation. Its basic principles are unity and democracy. The principle of radicalization is unacceptable by us. On the on hand, Kulmiye’s ideology reflects strong presence of radicalization and electing them will be a mistake”. Continued the president, “the leader that you are electing should be the kind of leader that think through things rather then making decisions based on sudden response”.

This criticism of the president to Kulmiye is not new are. The president strongly attacked the party previously by saying that they are recruiting former government official dismissed by the current and the previous two regimes. This has come on a time when officials from UDUB are resigning and joining the oppositions.

Finally, National Election Commission has released their final result of the voters who are eligible to vote on the 26th June, yesterday 20th June 2010. The total number of voters who are eligible to vote are exactly 1,069,941. They release this after they complete their course of action and dismissed 305,746 from the previous figure they released of 1,375,660.

      Dalmar,

Mujaahid-Engineer, Mohamed Hashi, is a true patriot known for his heroism
and truthfulness, supports Kulmiye, because he understands that Kulmiye
not udub is the better party. About UCID, it is also worth trying to see it win.
Any way, Whether Udub wins, or the opposition, for me, unless, a change
of power takes place, I see no hope for Somaliland, if Udub continues
to win another 5 years, since 1993, thats absolutely ridiculous.

This time maybe Kulmiye or Ucid times, Inshallah.

if you are a socialist then you should be with UCID which has a socialist agenda, avoid Kulmiye because it is for a free market and , and UDUB is for monopolies created by the government to benefit some private businesses on the expense of the unlucky rest, in simple terms capitalism in its worst !

… their plan will divide the nation’s unity and create uncertainty …, who is Riyaale kidding. What kind of unity is he talking about? We have seen what he has done and how he tried to divide th nation, turning against each and how he tried to solve simple conflicts at a gun-point instead of resolution.

The current Administration was given a chance and couldn't deliver. Udub got to go. The public do not trust anything they have to say. Their record speaks volumes on their behalf.
