The largest local umbrella of youth organizations, Somaliland National Youth Organization (SONYO), has come of age as they reflected upon their existence over the past decade.
In a ceremony to mark SONYO’S 9th year anniversary, the society’s executive director Mr. Saeed Mohamed Ahmed told the audience who attended the occasion that included the First Lady Amina Weris at Hargeisa’s Mansoor Hotel that it was an important time for the youth organization to embark on hence implement real developmental strategic programmes which would have positive effects on the lives of the youth in the country.
He said that, “We have just formulated a five year policy plan which we would embark upon by doing all efforts to implement them”, and stressed, “During this anniversary, we are not only celebrating our nine years of existence but we are evaluating the things so far achieved, where we are today and what are the expectations to be tackled in order to have positive effects on the lives of the youth in the country”.
His chairman Mr. Abdi Ahmed Wa’eys thanked all institutions and individuals who have supported the organization both morally and materially over the time.
Besides the First Lady, other high profile guests who graced the occasion were the Ministers of Finance, Information and National Guidance, Education and Youth the Hon. Abdiaziz Samaale, Hon. Boobe Yusuf Duale, Hon. Zamzam Abdi Adan and Hon. Ali Saeed Reygal respectively, and the Attorney General Mr. Hassan Ali.
Also in attendance were several members of both houses of the National Assemblies Parliament, senior government officials and heads of numerous local and international NGOs.

I appreciate sonyo's work i suggest their five year plan should be consistent with the broader national plan
