Somaliland: Queen of Somali Television; Nuura Mohamed is a talented and glamorous young lady, who presents HCTV’s Nuura Fashion programme

In her weekly show, she talks about the latest fashion and styling trends with her loyal audience.

Nuura show is a slick fashion and styling TV programme presented by very confident and articulate Nuura Mohamed.   Born in Hargeisa, but grown up in UAE where she completed her secondary school.   Later on she moved to UK, where she studied fashion and beautification.   In fact, considering she speaks fluent Arabic and English, one may think she’s more suited to Al Jazeera or even one of those day time British talk shows.   She delivers her subject matter expertly, especially when it comes to fashion, make ups and styling that suits woman of colour, especially Somali women.

No doubt, her fashion show is timely and much appreciated within the Somali Diaspora; including those loyal followers who regularly follow her programme back home in Somalia.  Her show has been on air for almost a year and half now, and since then it took Somali television audience by storm, due to her subject experience and her well qualified advice she gives to her live audience, not to mention her beauty and charm which attracts a lot of male followers.   Previously she presented ‘’Qaab iyo Qurux’’ in Royal TV, before she moved to her current fashion show with HCTV.   She has got a confident and attractive voice, and a likeable personality.   She’s quick witted to handle any unexpected event smoothly in a live programme whenever someone criticises her show or the topic she’s delivering.  She got a good rapport with her audience, and she understands well about the technical awareness required from a TV presenter

Unfortunately, having your own show in a Somali Television isn’t always like Oprah Winfrey’s rag to riches, nevertheless, at least the experience and finding your own niche in a very competitive arena could be anyone’s stepping stone to life changing career, which I believe made Nuura Mohamed, the perfect candidate to be a TV fashion presenter.   The demand for such a programme is due to modern young Somalis who understand how important fashion and styling is to their daily life, including those who may not be so overtly into fashion, but overall, Nuura Fashion is a decent  TV programme where Somali women can follow and relate their daily experiences regarding fashion and styling.

Although western style TV show is still in its infancy on Somali TV, nevertheless, the problem I have with Somali television is that their presenters often jump from one subject to another instead of sticking to a one particular niche market, or specialising a particular field.   This creates unnecessary competition and rivalry among the handful of TV presenters.

As we may all know it, in today’s world fashion and good styling is all about the image you want to present to the outside world, whether you going to party, or even going out in a simple meal.  Whether we’re a young or  adult, we all need to be confident and be part of modern society, and nobody wants to be left behind in cruel world where human being are valued what they wearing and how they style themselves.   Thus, her show combines all the elements of glamour and style in what was previously dominated by news and current affair programmes.

Her show isn’t always about glamorising, but it also talks about other prevailing subjects within the Somalian society, it also warns Somali women about dangerous beauty products, such as skin bleaching and other harmfull beauty products.    Suffice to say, Nuura Fashion is timely, and is one of the most popular TV show at present time.   And with nearly two thousand admirers on her facebook, she’s becoming an ever more popular among the young fashion conscious type.

I hope this sister is a role model to all somali sisters, lets hope she teaches them about fashion as i am sick of the sight of chubby somali women wearing long jilbabs in central London.

I am not saying get naked like the white garbage but just don't be an eyesore. Somali women used to be beautiful and classy and the 70's and 80's but it has just gone down hill from there.

Blame Saudi Arabia for brainwashing the somali people during the war.

The Nuura Show and modelling is as good as Hollywood. I also see that the Jilbabs in Central London
are as good and shouldn't be looked down. Varieties are the spices of livestyles whether
religious or secular oriented. Really the beauty and elegance of Nuura are eye catching so to speak
      with deep respect.

She is elegant, glamourous and intelligent typical Somaliland girl. I wish her all the best though alot of jealousy people will try to critise her.

A lot of Somalilander girls and boys were born and brought Up in abudhabi as a result of the tyrannic and dictatorial regime. There families moved there and other countries from present Somaliland at the time and they all turned up to be good citizenSp wherever they were.

That being totally different from from the zoomalians who started migrating after the 1990s and as result the name Somali became a laughable and disgraceful.

Once a u.a.e citizen Once asked me why are this present Somali immigrants so different from the Somalis who used to live in the u.a.e long time ago and believe Me I had no answer for him though in my heart I new he was talking about the zoomalians.

Anyway I wish all the best to Nura and all Somalilander beauty queens. God bless Somaliland and it’s beautiful people.

I don't regret getting hitched in Somalia cuz I found something priceless while I was there a culturally young beautiful somali woman who loves her somali culture, traditions and heritage. Most young somali woman in England wear a tent (jalabeeb) and abayas and it's a turn off I mean If they wanna look like all modest at least wear something decent like those latest fashion Islamic dress. OK, I get it why the older somali woman wear a tent (jalabeed) because they past a certain age but the younger generation what's their excuse? well basically I think they're either too poor or not f**ked bothered.

Nuura your a truly beautiful cultured somali woman and I love you please be an inspiration for these somali woman who don't leave their houses without a tent (jalabeed).

What happen to nice looking chicks, maybe she's 5 feet.

  8. Joe says:

I like the women that leave something for imagination sake. Others do not move me muscles. God fearing women in general be them Muslim, Christian or Jewish must use their brains more and never their bodies.

  9. Hirsi says:

What else other than modeling Noura has? It would be interesting to know !

  10. Nuur Calaa Nuur says:

Quruxda waa loo dhashaa. She is beautiful and talented Somaliland chick.

  11. NewLander says:

Oh please leave all that religious tripe out! There are enough women in the west with knee high skirts and sleeveless arms that have more dignity than all the jilbab niqabis put together. I have known in enough near Dixon to tell cautionary tales.

Bundles of clothes does not ensure lady like behavior, I have also known whores that would melt your heart.

Then again I do not live in a bubble of Islamic reinforcement, like bruce lee trapped in the maze of mirrors in Enter the Dragon! Its only when you break the mirror the truth comes out. Grasshopper!

  12. Haroon says:

I feel bitty for Somalilandpress to become this desperate to publish this, what will they do next , paste some playboy pictures?

  13. Ilyas says:

It is unfortunate to see muslims criticising hijab as if they differentiate between culture and islam. Thus it is not a surprise when our nabi has mentioned that the main reason why people are thrown into the hell fire, is because of their tongue. Just mind what you write here before it is too late to regret

  14. rooraaye says:

Great to see a Somali girls who looks Somali. Remember our motto: Geed qodax leh iyo gabadh timotidcani waa waxa dhulkeenna u gaar ahee laynugu garta. ("trees of the hardiest thorn..maidens of braided hair…our timeless which we stand out.."

It does not say " Trees of the hardiest thorn..maidens covered in jilbaab bedsheets" does it?
