HARGEISA (SomalilandPress) — Today at Egal International Airport the Chairman of the National Electoral Commission Mr. Esse Mohamed saw the delivery of the biometric cards for the Somaliland Presidential voting that is to take place in June 2010.
The National Electoral Commission and all three political parties have agreed the usage of biometric cards for the presidential voting rather than the traditional method of voting which used to be plastic laminated voting card that were not secured.
Majority of Somaliland citizens support the usage of biometric voting card system, however there are those that are still questioning if using biometric cards will prevent an election fraud. These new cards were printed in South Africa by Face Technologies, a company that is well experience in this specialized field.
During the unloading of the cargo Chairman Mr. Isse Mohamed told the press that starting May 10th distribution of the voting cards will begin in the capital Hargeisa and will continue for one week, followed by another week in the providences. “Once the distributions of the cards are completed than we get ready for the election says Mr. Isse”.
Isse added a lot of errors were fixed in the current registration list including detecting and removing children, duplications and other abuses.[ad#Google Adsense (200x200)]

I hope this electronic cards are not trick to block the supporters of KULMIYE. Coz UBUD will pay all money to ensure win of next election… What will Somaliland opposition do, if their supporters could not vote becuase their fingerprints or biometric card are not accepted in the system…. Let us all hope the best for Somaliland landmark election
If Kulmiye looses the coming presidential elections they will turn things upside down and make JSL another Somalia.
Yes, but that chaos which is created by KULMIYE will not last long because culprits will be seriously punished by the people of Somaliland.
That is how it lookslike.
As far as I know the reason we wanted to go with this systems was to eliminate the duplicates from our electoral system, right? but guess what still we do not have a solution for that.
These commissioners are just like the other ones. the way they handling the election or the voter registration is beyond there immagination, and againt the chairman is pro Riyale you want to know how last presidential election just go back to that what was he doing.
Basically this is the second democratic election in the horn of Africa, outcome of this election will be good for Somaliland as democratic contrary and the winner in my point of view is the normal citizen of Somaliland, as supports of the three parties we have to united on this point we made this happen in Africa without any help from the international community, if the position KULMEYE OR UCID wins or The rolling party UDUB Remains in power, we have respect the choice of the Somaliland citizens
Please give your vote to who is good for the well being of the country. Your vote should be earned not given to your next in kin. I am not sure who but I will give my vote based on who is going to help my fellow somalilanders, build roads, schools, hospital, improve public sector including the court system, elimate nepotism and tripalism, and once and for all create accountibility of the public funds. A word to the candidates, For the sake of your people, please leave a legacy and do something for your people. changes is possible but needs a starting point and a good leader…
