    Why?

  3. Libax says:

This a very wise plan to encourage citizens too keep the country's towns and cities clean… and most importantly more healthy to live in.

  4. HMObsiye says:

This is a good move, clean image of a city, town is what attract investors and promote good health. That is the reasons why developed world spent huge amount of their budget on street and sanitation. Since Somaliland government can not afford to finance general cleaning, it's a good idea for the people to be asked to volunteer and give the helping hands to the good images of their country.

  5. Gobaad says:

Cleanliness and hygiene is part of our religion as well as general health to stop the spread of disease and to have a clean environment. The citizens of Somaliland must contribute to the nation building and volunteer their free time to clean they surrounding areas and beyond.

When I visited Hargeisa in 1999, it was like a ghost town littered with plastic bags flying around and nobody was bothering to pick them up. Beside the government, people play a role building their countries. It is about time Somalilanders learn the value of volunteering in every field.

  6. Nish says:

Great initiative Mr. President. The people of Somaliland need to take ownership of their environment and this is a great way to motivate and encourage them into taking pride of their cities, towns etc.

  7. dalmar says:

this is good news,, i would strongly suggest the inclusion of our educational curriculum the cleanliness and hygiene , and provide seminars or training for housemaids, hotel owners etc. second trade and commerce ministry has to ban the import of plastic bags into the country.

  8. Kayse says:

The councils need better hygiene and sanitation practices in place. They need to provide regular street cleaners, proper rubbish bins and ban plastics all together. Anyone with plastic should get a fine. Instead they should be encouraged to use local baskets and products.

it is shame that Hargeisa is the only city that has not public toilets and garbage bins in the world.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shame on you mayor Jair.,,,

Hargeisa does have atleast one public toilet facility few doors past the national internet cafe but u have to pay 300 shillings and it's obviously privately owned.

It's funny though, some short guy hands u a ibriiq of water as u enter and another waits by the door to collect money off u :D

MR PRESIDEN, YOU REALLY NEED TO GO AND DEPLOY SOMALILAND'S NATIONAL ARMY ALONG THE BODERS WITH SOMALIA. SECURITY MUST BE OF THE GREATEST IMPORTANCE FOR ALL SOMALILANDERS. THERE ARE MORE THEN DOZEN TOWNS OF SL, WHERE NO ADMINISTRATION OR EVEN SECURITY POSTS. YET YOU FIND ALL THESE NORMAL. WEEL, IT IS NOT AT ALL AND THE SOONER YOU RALIZE THAT THE BETTER. I SAID IT ALL IN THESE FEW LINES.
