Somaliland Offered Asylum to Escaping Al-Shabaab

Many considered the country’s last election as test to prove to our commitment to democracy and nationhood, but the result was rather confusing. The country’s full democratic expectation and full independence was destroyed by the new government’ polity because the last elections in Somaliland brought Islamists to the forefront, factors including money, tribalism, deprivation, and faith made the country directionless. Somaliland government became predominantly “Islamists” in shadow; former finance minister Ambassador Awil stated “(Islamist) revolution, not election, occurred” and Security Minister, Mr. Dur Arale, confirmed his statement by declaring his government’s furtive attentions “we will host any Al-Shabab members to our soil” besides, he admitted in his interview with VOA that “that Islah is pacifist denomination…,” how did he know all the inner details? But which Islamist party is violent and aggressive and still operating in Somaliland with full knowledge and full view of the government? In his hint, Islam has two faces: ugly face of sword bearer and human face of white dove showman! Which is not true? But these are the tips of the iceberg.
The minister’s declaration came very late to prove the allegations of many terror analysts who told us who they were after the election was over, but we were in state of denial until recently. The aged president, Silanyo, lost in religion-cum politics as the political ascendency of the Islamists is obvious. The minister’s call “the terrorists walk free in Somaliland” is a cause for concern, not celebration; we had already Salvation Group with its roots lie in other countries which allied with national party to pass its agenda.
Somaliland theocracy has been in the hiding for two and half years to arm itself by arresting minor criminal as terrorists; by publicly hugging foreign female delegations to pretend democratic state. But all of sudden, Somaliland government has shown the world its ugly truth: theocracy inherited democracy as the first block, UDUB Party, to their mission was removed from competing parties list. The remaining parties except Ummada Party are simply puppets to the government.
Faysal Ali Warabi, the lucky kingpin in the UCID party who hire-sold his party to wealthy citibanker Jamal Hussein under dubious yearly contract, was appeased with bucks yet remains critic to the government very often.
Many Al-Shabab members who are from sprawling Madrasa in Somaliland refuel the conflict in Southern Somalia with full knowledge of the Kulmiye’s government, unlike, the past administration, which were closely monitoring the tens of batches of Madrasa graduate to curb the flow of Jihadists and put many behind the bars. As there is very thin line between the government and the militants, it’s hard to distinguish. Many security senior officials consider militants incarnation the prophet’s companions Sahabah. And this is quite alarming.
The chief security minister, Mr. Dur, is openly welcoming coward terrorists to Somaliland soil to re-mobilize and launch deadly attacks. But the majority of Somalilanders disagree with him, but his weird position tells how Islamist businessmen are the foundation of his government.

We should welcome our teenagers who have been abducted by Shabab with open arms and rehabilitate them. There combat experience in the dirty south is very valuable and must not be under estimated.
These young men returning from the south know how to navigate the southern jungles and also have experience of southern way of life. Since they were taken against their will or manipulated via blind faith it is our responsibility to teach them the error of their ways and nurture them back into society where they will certainly grow up to become productive members of society.
BAY & Bakool have all accepted their sons back, Shangoole is returning to puntland with 2000 troops for deployment, Gedo are in the process of incorporating their young shabab members in the Somalia government troops.
It would be foolish if Somaliland was to miss this opportunity to also disarm and consider redeployment of some of these battle hardened troops just as is being done by Somalia and Puntland. These young men will become very useful if ever there is a future conflict that requires somaliland troops to liberate parts of Somalia.

you both have valid reasons, but I would also like to add that Somaliland stands for democracy, peace and justice. We are muslims and we understand Islam better than any Westerner who are reactive. Somaliland has security that are active in preventing Alshebabe securing new safe haven. This will never happen under any administration or under the nose of any Somalilander. I think the author's negativity and exaggeration is political and due to dislike for the administration or Somaliland. That being said, if some youth return to their families they should be rehabilitated and monitored. If their actions is deemed threatening, they should answer for it and all that they have committed before, given it is proven without unreasonable doubt. But the leaders of alshebabe and the brain washers should be pursued without mercy and put to the full strength of the law.
I am against what somaliland stands for but the author sounds like hater. the head of shabab will get cut but the young men who fellow because of lack of knowledge will be forgiving. you must remember must of them are very young under 20's, if home is somaliland than they must go back

This is just an opportunistic manipulation of the words of the minister. If this is how low it gets for the desperate Somalians the future looks bleak for them indeed. the minister was reacting to the developing situation in Somalia and the intentions of the government there as well as the international community to dislodge the misguided youth from fighting for the deluded Al Shabab leaders. Nothing more and nothing less. Somaliland fights extremism, piracy and all those intent on crippling the peaceful nation of Somaliland. the worst thing i hate the most iz Jilbab. when i was 14 in Year 9 i made a decision that i will never date or marry a western somali girl cuz i kno for a fact after couple of years of marriage she will probably gain weight and wear Jibab. In 2010 i left london cuz of Jibab and went to hargeisa to learn somali culture, heritage & af Soomaali but somehow while i was in hargeisa i met a girl and we literally got married but now im so scared of how al shabaab will influence my wife in the clothing department. since we got married a year ago my wife usually wears gabisar when shes at home but wen we go out for dinner she puts on direh which is my favorite & mostly i wear macawiis and I am a huge fan of khat, i could chew Khat all day long but since al shabaab bombarded somalia with jilbabs, burga and niqaabs & banned khat i'm worried that my wife will chose to wear jilbabs which is my worst nightmare.
