HARGEISA (Somalilandpress) — Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) warned the contesting parties not to unilaterally announce any imaginative results that may confuse the public.

During a press conference in Hargeisa, the NEC chairman, Mr. Essa Mohamed said that such utterances will have serious consequences “we are starting now the counting process of the ballots, and we want to appeal to the citizens, the press and the political parties to avoid peddling any results that are not officially announced by the NEC, the exact and official results will be announced by the commission,” he said.

He urged the public and the political parties to support them and conduct themselves as they did in the Election Day.

Warning the press, the chairman said “I am once again informing all the press to refrain and be cautious about any predictions, because this will lead to creating confusion so let’s all wait for our official announcement of the results”.

People on the streets of the capital and in all major cities of the country have been talking about unofficial reports on how the parties gathered votes in different regions of the country and the supporters of every party are claiming victory, however the official NEC decision and the results they present will show the real and rightful winner.

It looks like that KULMIYE has won the Presidential elections. UDUB came second and UCID third. Nevertheless the results will be announced by Thursday, and judging by the statements from UDUB's Yasin Jama, it is very likely that Silaanyo will be the next Somaliland president, good or bad. The moment President Rayale concedes and power is transferred peacefully, then voice and votes of the Somaliland people will have spoken. And no, I am not a KULMIYE supporter, and didn't vote for them, but I am a realist, and KULMIYE have won the election.

And judging by the statements from UDUB's M/S Hindi/Yasin Jama,

and did not go crazy, ninn ba wa maray muss ma kula. Mu'min meel mar

MR. Hurguf, if your assumption holds positive, don't you agree that
      justice has played its hand.

      Cheers.
