HARGEISA (SomalilandPress) — Mr. Soren Pind, Minister for Development Cooperation of Denmark today arrived the capital of Somaliland, Hargeisa. Minister Pind who was leading a Danish delegate met with Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud at Mansoor hotel where they had a closed door meeting. This was the first time that Somaliland and the government of Denmark has had a such a high level direct talk and this is seen as a positive step in Somaliland.

After their meeting concluded the president’s office released a press statement acknowledging that President Ahmed Mohamud and Minister Pind had a meeting in Mansoor hotel. In their meeting President Mohamud spoke about Somaliland’s self sufficient, security, economic development and how it is able to do so much with the little resource that it has. President Mohamud also spoke about how Somaliland has satisfied all the requirements to become an independent state. Before their meeting ended President Mohamud informed minister Pind that Somaliland people thanked the Danish government for their support with the recent election that the country had.

Before Minister Pind departed back he was able to tour State House district where currently Southern Somali’s displaced refugees are settled. After touring State House district Minister Pind toured two Danish NGOs currently based in Somaliland DDG and DRC where he was presented with local folk dance and arts. The visit its seems had extra weight, since Denmark clearly stated many times that they will engage the State of Somaliland direct and increase the donations without even considering the other EU countries demand of concerted effort by all. Denmark is somehow different from other EU countries and understand what Somaliland has done so far. Furthermore, there was no cash donations handover to the President as some website speculate. This is unethical and Somaliland is not a beggar that whoever carries some cash comes and donates like Egyptian delegation who came to previous government with US $ 46,000.00. I remember comments on that stupid Egyptian gesture with such money, and the ambassador of Egypt in Nairobi call me and argued with me, because of what I said at the time. He even does not know that Somaliland was a government of its own before we join Wanlaweyn, and his knowledge of Somali affairs started from 1991. Being Ambassador of such an old state of Egypt, I could believe what he said to me during our discussion.

The danish are doing this because now they have a far right party in their goverment. They want to stop immigration to denmark. That is why the far right suggested that they help the immigrants home coutries, so they dont have to take care of immigrants. Denmark has in the 2 last years changed its face totally. That is the reason for this.

Denmark is not doing this because they like us or care about us. They are doing this in order to make sure Somaliland will accept unwanted Somali refugees in Denmark

The visit of the Danish delegation to Hargeisa can be taken as the harbinger of like ones to come from the other European and American governments. This boosts the reputation of Somali land as a peaceful entity where law and order prevails. I want the people of Somali land to do their best to develop their country by themselves and forsake charity. Monkeys quench thirst with their hands.

it is unfortunate that we are a very suspecting society and see ulterior motives from others when they try to embrace us and complain when they ignore us.

We need to keep a positive attitude and develop bilateral relations with other countries that we have things in common.

I view this visit as a positive development and hope that the negative attitudes above are from outsiders and not from Somalilanders.

I talk to Somalis from the South and I notice they blame everyone else for their missery but themselves. Let's not be like that.

    Keyse,

Stop your ignorance, if a cartoonist that happens to be Danish publishes some garbage, it does not and will not reflect badly on the Danish government.

Stop talking like those dress wearing Arabs who do not understand how democracies work. The Danish government had no right or power to dictate to cartoonist or the media in that country, they do not live in Saudi Arabia where those dress wearing kings make laws by verbally declaring something legal or illegal.

This is 2010, you have to crawl from under that rock where you live and understand how this global community works.

The influence of those backward Arabs has made you intellectually bankrupt, you need to open your mind and chart a new course.

You guys can butt*kiss Denmark all u want but I know the good Somalilanders will never associate themselves with such nasty country that will not respect other faiths, in particular Islam. They will not be welcomed in Somaliland again when most people understand how much hate Denmark has for Muslims. Only the few Somali refugees in Denmark are beating the drums for the visit.

Kayse can you shut up please you dont represent the people of Somaliland. We will welcome good friends in Somaliland. It's a great news for Somaliland and we thank Allah for that. Danmark have good relation with Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ugandan…Why not Somaliland.

Hey all you contraversial folks…Don't worry about the Denmark delegation or the Arabs whatever; the Somaliland Govt. under the Kulmiye Party leadership
is in good hands..so Kayse, Abdi and other folks can take a deep breadth
and stay cool!. One thing is for sure..the whole free world is trying to come
into grips with how to deal with the deteriorating well order and
which way is the right path to follow…we are living in very troubled and
problematic times, so folks think in more broader terms rather
    than from a narrow waveband.
    Cheers.

It is very suspicious that the bag of cash carrying by the Danish Minister for the Somaliland President, was meant something. Normally, when such a high profile delegation comes to visit a country, they do not simply carry cash to give the visiting country, however, I think, this was an exhange of something rather than giving this for free. Does this cash mean, the Danes wants to bring all Somalis lying within their refugee camps to soon transport to Somaliand. So, how much cash does Silaanyo received from the Danes in exchange for the Somali Refugees? If that is real, Silaanyo has committed a big crime against human smuggling because thousands of young Somalilanders are monthly dying in the seas in their search of a better life.

First of all, I think we most appreciate this visit from Danmark. At the same time the political parties outside the government should attend this kind of meetings behind closed doors. Almost everything the government do should be shared with the people.

Of course it is an exchange for something. What did you expect? Living in denmark the last 20 years, the danish people believe the basic attitude -" noget for noget" which means: I give you something if you give me something. If I know the danish people, they are sick of refugees, thats why Denmark stopped taking refugees, especially those from the Muslim word. So there are to exchange the dansih goverment want:
    1- sending the refugees back
2- stopping refugees coming to Europe, and trying helping people in their home countries
