Hargeisa (SomalilandPress) — Minister of Water and Mineral Resources Engineer Hussein Ahmed Duale this morning took a tour of Hargeisa’s main water well located at Geed Deeble on the outskirt of the capital. Eng. Duale was accompanied by his Deputy Minister Mr. Ahmed Suldan and the managing director of Hargeisa’s water department Mr. Ibrahim Yonis. The Minister and his delegation also made a stop at the main water storage located at Biyo Shiinaha where he was able to speak with the press that accompanied him.
Minister Duale spoke with the press at the main water storage where he acknowledged that there is no quick solution to Hargeisa’s water shortage however that his minister will do all it can to improve the conditions. Mr. Duale went on further to say that “before I returned to the country from the Diaspora I was aware of the water shortage that our country is facing and in particularly Hargeisa city and that my office will try to find solution for it”.
Minister Duale holds an Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering from Oklahoma University and has also worked for top companies in this industry before taking this position and therefore is seen as a beacon who can resolve Somaliland’s water shortage.
Hargeisa city with population of one million residents has out grown the water supply system that the Chinese has build thirty years ago and therefore needs an urgent investment in the water sector if it is to avoid acute water shortage.

war biyo la'aani majirtee waxaa jira maamul xumo oo waxaa meesha ka maqan sidii loo maareyn lahaa.
Absolutely Amiir, you right. How could the Capital of the nation have a water shortage? It doesn't make any sense. Water supply should be the top priority.
absolutely wrong amiir the government is just new and they are making difference so you should blame the old government if you are trying to be honest because they did totally nothing looool
If anyone can improve this water shortage situation, we have no doubt that it will be Hussein Abdi Duale. We know that he will invest 150% of his effort to the current state of affairs of this water crunch. Hang in there mothers, fathers, sons, and sisters, and foremost our dear Motherland Somaliland. Isha'llah.

Good to know, guys.
Let us just be optimistic and expect all the best from the new Gov, after all it is just a matter of time!
I agree it seems they are doing all they can .
i hope that with the help our lord water shortage will be put in the past. WATER is very important and government will be judged by people at how it will deal with.
Somalia has access to the ocean and could use these non-electric Reverse Osmosis packs over any number of Square Kilometers of ocean. At the end of the day, Somali workers can go out and collect that water and distribute to the people.
