Somaliland Meets all requirements set for recognizing any stable state

Somaliland is a state that merely lacks recognition. Recognition, however, is a political act and its validity turns on whether the creation of the state to be recognized satisfied norms of international law. Somaliland’s creation conforms to those norms: it satisfies the four Montevideo Convention criteria\ of statehood; it gained its independence through dissolution, a species of secession; and its secession conforms to the limiting principle of uti possidetis, requiring territorial adherence to colonial boundaries.
Recognizing Somaliland would not violate any imagined African norm that precludes secession. Africa has already witnessed a handful of secessions and dissolutions in the post-colonial era. Moreover, because Somaliland regained its independence in the context of dissolution and in adherence to uti possidetis, its recognition would neither set a new precedent nor justify tribal fragmentation of African states. The only groups that could possibly point to Somaliland as precedent or justification would be those that seek independence for former colonies currently amalgamated in larger states. Such groups, if they exist at all, would hardly open the feared African Pandora’s box. Rather, the impact they could have is to return Africa to its status at the very instant of decolonization.
Another rejoinder may be that recognition for Somaliland will legitimize an entity like al-Shabaab or another radical al-Qaeda affiliate that exercises de facto control over rump Somalia. Yet, there is little reason to worry over this outcome. The only indigenous Somali entities that have exercised anything approximating de facto control over rump Somalia in the last decade have been these sorts of al-Qaeda affiliates, but they have not gained legitimacy. Instead, the international community has sanctioned the Transitional National Government and Transitional Federal Government with legitimacy irrespective of their abilities to exercise de facto control over Somalia. It is likely that after recognizing Somaliland—and thereby acknowledging that rump Somalia is a separate state—the international community will continue to spurn radical indigenous groups operating in rump Somalia, granting legitimacy to its moderate groups that work with the international community.
On balance, then, recognizing Somaliland is likely to contribute to international security and stability by preserving the Republic of Somaliland’s bulwark against piracy and terrorism without encouraging either ethnic separatism or legitimization of al-Qaeda affiliates. On the other hand, non-recognition threatens the modicum of international security that Somaliland provides in the Horn of Africa. It does the international community no good to allow rump Somalia’s lawlessness to spread. Doing so would only exacerbate piracy that already harries international commerce and afford al-Qaeda affiliates yet more freedom of action.
These, though, are the likeliest fruits of non-recognition for Somaliland. I request the United Nations, African Council and other international organizations to recognize the peaceful country (which meets all the requirements set for recognizing any stable state) and apply the Good laws on the Muslim countries also and not only the Christian and other newly recognized countries, i.e. South Sudan .
It is also challenge for America and the United Nations who acts leaders of Justice and fairplay to recognize the Republic of Somaliland without any further delay.

I request all the Muslim world to be united and I clearly condemn the disgrace movie made by Foreigners.
I confirm and assure that nobody on Earth and heaven can disgrace anything about Muhammad.
But if any one try he/she will be completely destroyed and then put in the hell for ever in the life
hereafter.
So I request please read the following English translation of Surah Lahab revealed at Mecca. About Ab Lahab who once try to disgrace Muhammad (PBUH).
[Lahab 111:1] May both the hands of Abu Lahab be destroyed – and they are destroyed!

[Lahab 111:2] His wealth did not benefit him in the least, nor did whatever he earned.

[Lahab 111:3] He will soon enter the flaming fire.

[Lahab 111:4] And so will his wife; carrying a bundle of firewood on her head.

[Lahab 111:5] A rope made from palm fibre around her neck
I request the Americans and the European Government to advise their public Not to challange the God’s power by entering the sensitive area of Muhammad (PBUH)
“O Allah, let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, you are Praiseworthy and Glorious. Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, you are Praiseworthy and Glorious

Long live Republic of Somaliland and Pakistan Friendship.

somaliland press it is getting repetitive please stop it thank you

    • Abdiwahab says:

why are you jealous of somaliland and its achievements unlike ur failed somalia whom we would never unite with. unity equals suicide

  2. Abdiwahab says:

What we have here is not secession but the restoration of a sovereign state as before 1st July, we was a country recognised by 35 UN States. However, all pro-independence political forces in Somaliland be it govt. or opposition as well as civil society should go out of there way to convince unionists in the country that there will be no consequences they face from fully-fledged statehood when it inevitably arrives. the independence of Somaliland must not divide our people, within our colonial boundaries, along clan lines since everyone will be vindicated and no one will be neglected only if we all stand together as one.

  3. Allemagan says:

This is one romp of spin doctoring and fear mongering. If Somaliland could effect any outcome in Somalia, they wouldn’t allow their sons to form the leadership of Alshabab. You could at least tell Godane to stop the massacre of our people. Why wait for international recognition before you could shake the magic wand? let us face it – if you are not part of the solution, certainly you are part of the problem.

    • buuxiye says:

      LOL

IC is fully aware of Ina-Godane’s emergence in the Koonfur Koonflict. He stole IC FUNDS to start his Domestication of Koonfur Kongs. The man should be offered a noble peace price for reducing the world’s hungry through direct intervention that has made mass culling a novel solution to global food shortages.

      DEMAND and SUPPLY

Populations tend to choose a leader that reflects their collective will and Shabab Majority Marehan-clan can attest to that. Why do we see Kismanyo as the last strong hold of Shabab it is not because it is the easiest location to defend strategically nor is it because it has best escape route for shabab in the event of defeat NO NO NO it is simply because MAREHAAN-CLAN is the final clan that is the main SPONSOR of SHABAB with the profits they make from their ISLI and NAIROBI based businesses. Majority of Shabab leadership have already escaped into Kenya where they are already guaranteed a safe heaven while Kenya takes advantage of the situation to secure it’s interests inland and on the somali coasts… All because the Marehaan-clan and Kenya’s interests are aligned to serve only these two groups.

No wonder it has been a year and yet not one soldier has set foot in Kismanyo :) bomb the place i would have had i any real fear of shabab and end this siege. Bloody joke this is…

  6. mohamed cheers says:

Great article and Author for those IC Great leaders to hear and heed.
Also, So much so, for the Somaliland recognition issues.
As for Prophet Muhammad(PBUH), such damaging unnecessary mischief causing mockery to the Islamic Religion and their Prophet, shouldn’t have been incited in the
first place by certain few anti-Islam groups.
    Cheers.

  7. Read this, though the SNM mass killings in Khatumo, Awdal and Makhir are not mentioned, but still tells the reality at the ground.

  8. Allemagan says:

Pakistan has more problems than you can throw a stone at;Wahabbi fundamentalism, Taliban terrorists and their sypmpathisers and a whole lot of poverty and backwardness. It is also common knowledge that some of the Alqaeda terrorists that are boosting the numbers of Alshabab and creating a mayhem in Somalia are Pakistani nationals.
To add insults to the injury here is another Pakistani promoting the division of Somali people. The million dollar question is why is Mr. Qureshi is advocating for the destruction and dismembering of what little remains of Somalia? The answer is the man is a paid talking head for the desparate separatist Adminstration in Hargeisa who is spending what little funds they receive as foregin aid from IC on useless public relations and propoganda. Why not better spend these funds on the hungry in northern Somalia instead of wasting it on this man?
By the way, Where is Kayse and why he is not addressing this man as he usually does? Kayse, we need your ability to produce complete documentation and background information of every cunniving propagandist.

    • Kayse says:

      hahahaha Allemagan, brother in arms.

I’m bit overloaded at work today but once I finish few documents and so I am going to address this lost brother from Pakistan who wants to follow the footsteps of his former British Masters. He wants to divide our country even before Pakistan failed to regain its Keshmiir region.

I don’t understand why he chose to take few dollars from Ethiopian-Isaaqis just to divide the Somali Republic for Ethiopia.

After Iqbal, the Indian man who was making money from them got exposed, they diverted attention to Asia and Pakistan.

Ahmed tells them they have an embassy in the Ahmediyaa Kingdom and that’s how he gets his money from them even though they are dirt broke. He seen how dirty Hargeisa is and I am not sure why he likes to rob and lie to them.

No Muslim nation is going to divide another Muslim nation specially Arab ones when the Somali Republic is a full member of the Arab League.

Pakistan has no power to divide nor reclaim its Kishmir. They can’t even regain the Waziristan region, which is like our Somaliland, tribal region full of extremists and grievers.

  9. sahra says:

noble peace price for ina-godane why not hitler you are out of touch with reality you need a professional examining your head seek one.

  10. Kayse says:

First of all I do respect Mr Quresh but when the pocket becomes the eyes for one, he or she must be corrected.

Ask him, how he feels about the British colonial rule and its legacy? Do you think he will jump in joy and join you guys who celebrate everything the British stood for?

For smart Pakistanis, British empire was the ultimate enemy, the one who sold and divided their Pakistan. The one who brought them under Indian rule and sold Kashmir to the Indians.

So instead of seeing the similarities between the Pakistani struggle and the Somali people, he chose to sell his soul for few dollars from an unrecognized protest camp in north Somalia.

He should understand the British divide was disease in Pakistan, Somalia and many parts of the world thus you can’t embrace their legacy on one hand and condemn them on another.

Mr Qureshi needs to stop following the British colonial games and if he wants division we want to see him advocating for Kashmir to be ceded fully to India. He should support the division of Pakistan even further. He should advocate for the independence of Waziristan, Ahmediyya people, Hindus to reunify with India and the independence of Christian groups in Pakistan.

If every tribe is to have a protest nation, no one is better off than Pakistan. He needs to go home and do his home before sending silly propaganda letters for the protest camp in Hargeisa.

I don’t want to see any more silly letters from a Pakistani brother because Somali people support the ultimate unity of Pakistan and we consider Kashmir part and partial of Pakistan. We demand nothing else. Unity of Somali Republic and Ogaden region is part of Somalia.

These protesters will soon run out of steam, they already broke like Lehman Brothers. It just matter of time before they come to their rightful mind and start ribbing the fruits of the Somali Republic instead of protesting in the former house of Morgan over the actions of one regime led by one dictator.

This tribal protest camp is crumbling, Dr Omar has no ticket to even visit Addis Ababa to see his real boss.

    • ahmed says:

      That’s right mate.
