  1. Gobaad says:

What does he know to suggest that? You have to explain, why you are objecting to it. Give us your take or understanding on the issue.

    • Hargeisawi-In-London says:

Gobaad, there are only six days left until the Big Day — so please hold your horses!

    • Aynte says:

i love the google ad with the somali flag

  2. Mohamoud says:

I agree with you what does he know. He was in Paris spending all the money he looted from the nation and did not even bother to settle the dispute within his party. What did he do to promote the Somaliland recognition. Why ex-president have to leave his country to live overseas. Is he afraid of conviction of corruption. He was Khat dealer in Borama how on earth can he afford to live in Paris.
The only presidents who leave their country are the ones that have been kicked out.
I suppose you are still getting a pension from the Somaliland government.
Why do not you stay with your people. Why are you in asylum in France when you could have lived in Somaliland with dignity as ex-president. There is no reason to bad mouth the current government when you have done nothing to speak of.
Go back to France and enjoy yourself instead of meddling in the affairs of the current government.
You had your chance and you blow it.

    • Gobaad says:

Mohamoud, he is enjoying well the public looted money and all the kickbacks he has accumulated since he came to power.

  3. Dire Dawa says:

    Mahmoud

You should have a little respect for your former President. After all, He is the only East African leader to give up power peacefully. He built a good image for Somaliland and you should be grateful for that . If you accuse him of corruption, bring your evidence forward, otherwise it's just the same tired character assassination ….

  4. Abdi says:

I second that Dire Dawa, the ex president has the right to reside anywhere he wishes and expressing his opinion on any issue is his democratic right in SL. Anyone who disagrees is in a wrong country.

  5. Gabooye says:

We're really missing him in fact the entire country wants him back. I mean look at the situation with this government, they dragged us to endless wars and corruption is on high level.

  6. ayaan says:

i dont get it WHY??? is he living in paris?

  7. nsu says:

Guys does any one here get desturbing semi naked woman on their screen when they browsing this web,its on the left handside as i write. It is quite irritating, any suggest of how to get rid of it? supposedly muslim Web hoster shouldnt have had this kind of ad on their web.

  8. Berri says:

This desturbing semi naked woman is an advertisement from dating site which is prohibited in Islam. It's what called banner ads that provides some revenues for site owners and can be removable or stoppable, if this site wishes so.

  9. Rak says:

    Dira Dawa

    Well said!!!

  10. Saleebaan Xaaji says:

I concur with some of the comments made here. The former President deserves some respect. If he lives in Paris, doesn't the current president have a nice home in exclusive East Putney of London. Come on, people. Disagree with his policies, or any other political issues, but let us stick to the relevant matters.

    • Mohamoud says:

The current president bought the house before he bacame president not after with his own money not the looted tax payers money.

      • Saleebaan Xaaji says:

So, the current president found the house in London on the street pavement. Come on

  11. Saleebaan Xaaji says:

I guess, you cannot say President "S"on this forum? What is up with that. This was Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud's nick-name all his life and he doesn't have a problem with it. In fact, he takes great pride in the nickname

  12. Leila says:

Dahir Riyale kept Somaliland in a box for eight years working under-cover with the enemy in return for cash so what he thinks doesn't really matter.

  13. Ali says:

This ex-president once again miss-read Somaliland's public opinion no wonder he spent the last 2 years in no man's land. I think the reason he said what he said is to distract the public from his party problems which he created himself while in France.

  14. nsu says:

    Berri
Ok, thanks for ur clarification anyway and lets hope the brother come to his sense and remove it for the sake of Allah, coz surely this will not boost his income but only hinder his halal risq

  15. Ahmed Yussuf Yassin says:

Riyale was a useless president. Silanyo accomplished more then what Riyale has done in less than 2 years.

  16. I Jama says:

An Ex-president like D Ryaale have got it wrong. They shouldn't be still be part of the parties. After all these parties are their to gain a post in the next elections for presidency. So, the whole re-appearance is letting him down and breaking the rules of what he seems to be claiming he is.

Either he is confused like his party or he can't see why an ex-president remains so? He should be supporting his country with other ways. I've never seen this sort of politics in other countries where the ex-president lurks around in the background. Its creepy.

  17. Nuur says:

So much hate for UDUB and Rayale. Under him somaliland was united. Never forget that. Now you have dhaqaan celiis state, idiot state, wasteman state and so on. Rayale would never have been tricked into selling Somaliland out like Silanyo will at this conference and the british would have sent their AMBASADOR AND NOT THEIR DEPUTY ONE HAd he been in power to ask Somaliland to attend the conference. Somalilandpress readers are pro Kulmiye. FULL STOP. This website should be called KULMIYE PRESS.

  18. I Jama says:

@ Nuur. There is no hate. It just protocol that is not followed by UDUB and Rayale. I don't think you get it. Kulmiye, UDUB, and UCID are parties. Simply put they are their to lobby for support and bring forward the best policies. This is what people vote for? The current President was elected for a reason and the parties will need to carry on without him. Thus, all parties are able to gain support from those who vote. Nothing to do with the current President or ex President who technical have both had their chance.

  19. Ali says:

    @ Nuur

United under Riyaale? you having a laugh! Somaliland is stronger than ever and these called dabeed wareeg States u mentioned are the people Daahir Riyaale used to pay to keep them quite and they represent no body on the Ground.

  20. mohamed cheers says:

Welcome back home to your grand old party Udub (in disputes) .
Mudane ex President Dahir Rayaale Kaahin.,This time around more than any other, your
Somaliland will need your expertise as an opposition Udub party. As opposition all the
responsible critics you gave are well stated and fittingly so by the chairman of the.Udub
party. Don't be discouraged by those tomcat lickers bad mouth comments. Good Somalilanders
will not forget how democratically you handed over the power when you were defeated in the last
presidential elections. Whatever your political motives will look like for the future of Somaliland,
one could only hope that you will continue to add to your democratic values of good reputation.
    Cheers.

  21. Saleebaan Xaaji says:

Compared the current President, the former President was George Washington, the current pesident is George W. Bush

  22. Saleebaan Xaaji says:

Some people just cannot get over that the former president kept Somaliland united for eighty years, we kicked butt from west to east, and he handed power off like a gentleman. Sadly, the current president is lost at sea, adrift upon a sea of malaise and graft. It is like the "Geela Mareexaanka" all over again.

  23. Saleebaan Xaaji says:

typo, eight years, but felt like eighty. "riyaale ka dib roodhi lama cunin"

  24. inayuusuf says:

Whoever believes that Riyale stepped down democratically is uninformed at the best. He had done so after IC pressure. Haven’t you even read the leaked documents on the Somaliland Times? That was after he postponed the elections 4 times. Haduu in yaroo damiira leeyahay, kumuu dhegsanaadeen Gudoomiyenimada UDUB after 8 years of presidency. He is a control freak! Then why he hasn’t bothered himself to come home earlier and solve his party’s grave problem.
@ Dire Dawa who seeks evidence for Riyale’s corruption, the empty coffers handed over by him is not enough?
This argument was plausible at the time he was in power because we didn’t know what the national GDP was like. And how large our taxes were? Under Silanyo we came to know that NGDP is enough to build roads, pay high salaries (double) to Military and increase teachers to one fold. Shame on those still believe in Riyale and his notorious UDUB party.

  25. inayuusuf says:

@ Nuur who claims SL was united under him.
I say, under him and also the late Egal, Somalilanders used to see Government officials only before elections where they handed promises of new foolish Gobol and Degmo to ensure more votes.
I understand that Las’anod was fully brought under control when we was in power but Don’t you remember that he (and host of ministers) were once chased from Las’anod by mortar?
It was because of the lack of clear strategy from our Dhulos that they haven’t announced their Kastuumo state earlier but not because Riyale kept them under SL flag.
One can even argue that Dhulos realized more than ever before that SL is being recognized soon or later and thus are trying to play their last card in order to prevent recognition by showing IC that there is a fight in the disputed Buhodle and Tuka-raq area. But poor Dhulos forgot that the last thing IC wants is a conflict in the SL borders.

    • ayanle says:

Sorry brother but you are wrong what you are say now is not good for our country respect to all president and respect your self peace.

  26. Xaashi says:

Guys a little respect here, please. He is our FORMER president not EX-president. The president is still alive, and he was not kicked out of office or resigned.

  27. Axmad says:

He was politely told that If he didn't leave power willing if kulmiye won the elections, then his life would not be safe in s/land. As in many countries around the world, s/land is a country where the tribes have agreed to live in peace. The government, army, and police have no power as such – it's the tribes who rule. Is there anything wrong with this? Not at all. Allah made us into tribes and setup the tribal system for our benefit. S/land led by the noble Isxaaq tribe comprehends this fact more than other somali tribes.

  28. ayanle says:

You all are talking like that about a somaliland president "RESPECT" PEOPEL "RESPECT" he was the predident of SOMALILAND that is why somalia is what it is we are SOMALILAND peopel and we should respect all somalilanders we are sl today ne happy and stop all this say togather
    ONE LOVE TO SOMALIAND
    1 LOVE SL

  29. Ali says:

Daahir should act like a man and come face to face with Ahmed Yuusuf Yaasiin and sort out what's left of UDUB! Why hide in DJibouti then one day after Ahmed Yuusuf left for London he landed at Hargeisa?

  30. mohamed cheers says:

Udub Party will no longer be the same old days…different times and strong and tough political
rivalries are very much up in the horizon. Surely, Former President Rayaale has a big role to
spin things around. Right now Ahmed Yassin and his followers seem to be getting pretty
rough rides which only God knows better may continue to be all the more difficult, with the Udub
    future politics changing directions.
    Cheers
    .

  31. Abdi says:

I love Rayale as my former president and I love "S" as my current President. I supported Rayale when he was president and Campaigned for "S" in the last elections because we needed change and I welcome Rayaale back because we need a strong opposition party and Feisal and UCID have failed to fill the vacuum. People, let's get used to this democracy and agree to disagree but respectfully like civilized people.

  32. Abdi says:

Somalilandpress is now becoming too patriotic for it's own good. They delete your coments if you call the president by his nickname "S". This is licking A** to the muximum.

    • ayanle says:

Yes they forgot that somaliland is one nation one people iam born in hargeisa and i hate clan but i love sl and all in it for ever, sl press should clear that out to the people that clan is death of the people.
one nation one people one sl.

  33. Abdi says:

    silanyo

  34. Abdi says:

I get it now, it is S double eye L that is being deleted.

  35. Saleebaan Xaaji says:

Silanyo waa la ogalyahay, ee dhanka kale ayaa la diidayaa..Waan yaabay markaan qoraba waa la diidaa..Fahmay, lakiin labadu shuqul isku ma laha

  36. ayanle says:

Somalilanders love your country love your family love your people love your self and love your religion.

  37. ComAgainTrolFreVers says:

Hes living in France because its chic and close to switzerland where his illegal bank account is filled with money he stole. This is the story of every third world shcmuck leader.

  38. abdikhadar says:

let us be realistic, dont waste time, both presidents are our heros, both spent their live to improve our nation,we have to respect their dignity, reyale and the curent president silanyo are somaliland heroes ,i highly recomend you to follow up the presidents guideluines(SILANYO).
