Somaliland: Fighting Erupts In the Village of Kalshale

Kalshale (SomalilandPress)—Fighting has reputed again in the disputed village of Kalshale located in the province of Sool between two brotherly tribes that both call the area home. It was in November of last year when the two local clans fought over this village when one tribe tried to build water dams in the village area however the other tribe did not agree with it. Because of that heavy casualties were sustained from both sides and the Somaliland arm forces had to call to restore peace.
SomalilandPress reporter Abdiqani Baynah was able to speak with a local resident from the village who confirmed that a fighting began between the two clans in the afternoon when one clan attacked the village. The attacking tribe whose militia is said to be from the city of Buhoodle did not agree with the outcome of the peace agreement that was reached last month and the decision that President Ahmed Silaanyo made in the village.
Somaliland arm forces were again successful in stopping the bloodshed however the attacking tribe retaliated against the army in which two soldiers were killed and another one was wounded. An officer who spoke with reporter Baynah on the phone confirmed the casualties and said that the village is now under the control of Somaliland army and also the army has caught four militia members.

We really need our army forces in these region for good. And the question I is why are the Somaliland government disarming the tribes in this region…if they want to go back to old ways and don't value the peace that somaliland offers them..I think it is time for next step..disarm the militia and the gang bangers. The women and children of that region needs no practices of the South.

The Somaliland army has to go in Buhodle and disarm the trouble makers from there who are using the poor community as cover. This was from al qaeda linked ssc group.
i hope puntland is stopped as it is them who are arming the terrorist from the village of buhoodle.The somaliland army should establish a base in kalshale to counter the threat from somalia

The original conflict or misunderstanding ,as I have understood it, was between Habar Jeclo and Dhulbhante residents of the region. They both live in the area, but they seem to be acting like fools over WATERING HOLES! Honestly, since when does a watering hole have to be such a HUGE topic. They should both be allowed to use it as they wish. PROBLEM SOLVED!
because of somaliland you can go to buhoodle, all dhulbahante need to understand that they are spoiled, somaliland should send to alshababe, they will not ask for peace but cut you into pieces.
The Kalshaale problems were already properly addressed by the committes peace makers and the Govt.
together.The final deliberated solutions were not fully accepted by the Buhoodle side for whatever reason.
It's very clear the Buhoodle side does not want peace. The already Govt. arrangements to use
the SL military muscles in the troubled area must remain the correct mandate to confront this
Kalshaale Buhoodle. Either side refusing to accept the already well calculated peaceful conculsions
which was based on both religious and scientific rulings must be harshly dealt with by the SL forces.
NO excuses here. It's now a national security issue for the Somaliland Govt.to take over.

Somaliland force did a great job by stopping those tribes from fighting over lands. We are all Somalis and we own the country together and we are one community in one country. I am sending a message to every citizen: please burry the hatches and forget about tribal conflict and focus on developing Somaliland and building a flourishing future. This mentality is a throw back and it is hindering us from progressing. We should set a good model for th young generation and teach them that we are one soul in one body.
i wander why Habarjelo always seeking land towards dhulbahante land – when dhulbahante panish them they say Abtiyaalo let us stop – these days they are having shelter of somaliland arm to gain Kalshale. but it is different from the past , people of Buhoodle are alert . no more land to gain you Habarjeclo.

I send my condolence to the two brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their Land (S/land) may Allah have mercy on their souls. I think Dhulbahante need to sit down together and think about their future seriously, Kalshaale is Allah's land and we (Somaliland) said any Somalilander can live wherever he/she likes but it is Dhulmahante who are against this. History will recall what they gain from this unjust quest. for those who are in the diaspora who raise funds for these terrorist groups are as guilty as those groups they are MURDERS who killed innocent people who were praying their Eid prayer. The people of sool, cayn, sanaag and awdal are taking arms to fight, soon or later they will drain SL forces, and they will be in hargeisa. not that I'm hoping for that but I'm mature and realistic. remember how SNM struggle started and the effect it made in siyad barre regime and that was a full blown gov't with a real army, SL is one tribe entity, and history thought us no tribe win over the other. Lets admit and take over while we can before we go in the permanent written somali history the tribe that hated all others. Im just trying control the future damage, I work closely with international community ( UN ) not politically, I can confirm this for you there is NO recognition coming to SL period. not from US or UK or AU or EU or AL none none none none. and that's the reality leaders of SL knows to core. and close sources from SL leaders says they know that, but they are waiting for a reasonable gov't to form in south, shocking but its true, I say why wait why not take leadership permanently from Mogadishu and close the southern borders.

Well. we know who and what you are..and if you are waiting for something reasonably to come from Mogadishu, then you are dreaming. In ethnic Somali history, Somaliland deserves a golden page. Somaliland managed to stop somalis from killing each other. Somaliland is doing everything it can to make sure that its peoples progress, irrespective of clan affiliation. Unlike Barre who destroyed Somalia, and Ina Yey who we all know that he did. Give it up, the international community you work for (?), is tired of Somalia, billions and nothing to show for it but pirates, terrorists, starving women and children. Just like Egypt and Tunisia, and Southern Sudan, it is a whole new world, except for remnants of the Barre regime, like you.
Keep on dreaming, until you come to your sense. Because, Somaliland is here to stay in all regions of Somaliland, whether you like or not.
You guys are out of tough with the reality of Somaliland and it's 6 regions. True that there are
metropolitan multi-lateral indegineous tribes in all the SL regions where any tribe has the right to
settle without discrimination..but the most important overridding factor is the democratically elected
Govts. who are the oversight sovereignty charge to maintain the peace, safety, national security and
and the wellbeing standards of the nation and country as a whole. The main security problems for
Somaliland is from the W/bari 3 regions of Somaliland and the threats of Puntland/PSS.
The Somaliland armed forces must be fully mandated to confront these dangerous tribalist
threats of Parts of Sool and Sanaag. There's no other recourse except the army solution.

Somaliland was once treated in iron fist by a dictator, We should therefore avoid to use force at all costs, to an unarmed people of ours. Let us mediate the involved tribes through mediation and mutual understanding, instead of radicalising the situation that flares or fuels the tribal feud that already burning.

The mediation was already conducted and completed by all the means necessary islamically
as well as scientifically with the SL. Govt. as the overall oversight sovereign authority to maintain
the national peace safety and security guaranteeing the overall copyrights powers of any given
situation(s) and vice versa etc. Any defaulting side will have to pay the price facing the iron hand
of the SL Armed forces to deal with the consequences of such crisis from within and without inorder
to protect the SL National security which is seriously at stake and can not be jeopardised . In this case Buhoodle side is fully responsible for not accepting the peace accord.

I totally I agree, he who look for Peace he will be rewarded, he who snich and doesn't know what he wants in the future, will never gain anything in life. I feel sorry for the dhulbahante, their mothers or grandmothers are somalilander and their father receive money from Puntland to attack SL, the poor people will die in between.

People should stop the fight, this kind of fighting won't benefit anyone. We can always take sides like this people started the fights and so on and on. Northern Somalis or Somaliland whatever we called has two hot spots, one in Kalshaale and other is Calbardale. These issues need to be solve out of politics and politicians, we can easily solve this by cultural and clans ties since people live together for centuries with or without common authority between them. This is my personal opinion either people get upset or not. Firstable, Somaliland administration won't be see as a neutral army but rather a clan army in some regions of Somaliland. Somaliland has no rights to go into other Somalis land.
I think, community leaders and clan elders who are free from Somaliland politics will do good job to end the conflicts. I don't understand how would anyone called heroes these people who are fighting for nothing, they are uncles and neighbors and this should be stop. Isha'Allaha this won't be going on for another day. This useless fighting and no need to put more fire in to the conflicts.
What happens if community leaders and clan elders fail to resolve the Kalshaale and Ceelbardale
conflicts simply because one side or the other is not fully satisfied with the final rulings???
Does that not give the Govt. the right to take charge??? In both cases the best peace accords were
already justifiably institutionalised and honestly there should not be any lingering questions to continue.

My heart felt condolences to the families and friends of heroic men that lost their lives while serving their country and people. In the interest of the safety and security of all the stakeholders in and around the Kalshaale-valleyI. sincerely mean, that disarming the malitia in Buuhoodle is the way forward. The young men are so poor and desperate. They need financial and economic support to buy some camels and mary to settle down. Some cinical figures are abusing them.
The government gave its best shot that it come up with: To reverse the valley in a fully grazing-sone, pay all the blood money, and deployed the army. The only thing the government hasnt done is disarming the armed tribes men.
Its really sad to hear we have lost soldiers lives to some hardnocks and ruff necks in the name of clan militias! I pray to Almighty Allah to bless their souls and may they rest in peace.
The Kalshaale /Buuhoodle issue is not new to the community elders and religious leaders as well as the Government of Somaliland.The watering holes/water pans /berkets/balleys ,the pastures/grazing lands have always been there too.Lets call a spade a spade and realize that this is purely political instigations! Let these selfish humanoids that funding ,arming and fueling interclan feuds STOP these ungodly acts that might derail the peaceful coexistence of these communities.

I always find it amusing to see WESTERNIZED SOMALIS promoting tribalism and minor skirmishes. This conflict is not 1) NEW and 2) it is about WATERING HOLES. For God sake, take an anger management class or something! If the elders in the area cannot resolve this minor dispute and come up with an equitable solution then they should be put in jail regardless of tribe – habar Jeclo and Dhulbhante. What right does anyone have to take up arms against any citizen. There are laws that should be followed! The first one is locals of any town should not be armed. Buhoodle or SSC leaders need to disarm and take their issues up with the SL supreme court or at least their counter parts (isaaq elders). That is the Islamic and Somali thing to do! Their second step should be to join the SL political system as a PROUNITY PARTY. They should campaign in the SSC as well as all parts of Somaliland, since there are many isaaq who wouldn't mind a NEW approach to UNITY.
However, if their TRUE position is WE ARE DAROOD AND YOU ARE ISAAQ then they should be jailed for stupidity alone. I would also deprive them of their fuel source QAT loool

My advise to Dhulbahante tribe in particular is to excersize the right to remain neutral in so far as politics are concerned. Much like other countries between major countries. They have been nicked named the ‘Bermuda triangle’ due to their schizophrenic nature of their so called allegencies with neighbouring tribes. They are under the illusion that the problem with go away if they joined any side but we all know they are lying to themselves. They are but passage to others and will always feel dumbed by either side because they are inferior. Hence the complex disease some have. All sides would have no reason to give them what they want. S/land tried but like they say not all good deeds are repaid. So S.land or P.land or Somalia weyn see their two faced or three in this case of their intent and will always show them their place if they don’t excerzie the right to stay neutral & the innocent will suffer due to a stupid few.
