Somaliland: Ethiopia Overwhelmed by the Support of Somaliland People

The Ethiopian Embassy in Hargeisa has expressed their profound gratitude to Somaliland government and its people for their unrelenting support during the moaning period of the death of Ethiopia’s late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi who was laid to rest at the Holy Trinity Church on Sunday sept.2 in Addis Ababa.
According to a press released by the Ethiopian Embassy in Hargeisa, which stated that on behalf of the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the people of Ethiopia we hereby express our profound gratitude for the their unrelenting brotherly support during our time of grief
The deputy Ethiopian ambassador to Somaliland Mr. Taye Tesfaye mentioned in the statement that the bilateral ties between the two nations will remain the same and will cooperate on security matters.
Ambassador Taye Tesfaye reiterated that his government is committed of strengthening the relations between Somaliland and Ethiopia
Leaders of different African countries and officials of international organizations paid their respect to the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.
“Meles Zenawi was a great leader, he was not only the leader of Ethiopia but he was also Africa’s leader. He was also a peacemaker who has contributed a great deal for peace and security of the region,” said Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud Silanyo.
“On the behalf of the people and the government of Somaliland, I would like to offer my condolences to the people and government of Ethiopia.”
President Ahmed said Ethiopia has been and will be a good Friend of Somaliland and the two countries have a very close relationship, and it is hoped that the relationship will continue and grow even bigger. “We’ve learnt a lesson from the late Meles that it is a good thing to bring people together and to work for the development of the region as a whole”, he added.
President Ahmed Silanyo before returning home paid a visit to the widow of the Deceased Prime Minister Mrs Azeb Mesfin.

I hope Ethiopians understand like Somalilanders that leaders come and go, but the state goes on.
