The aim of this review is to evaluate the performance of the multi-party elections held in Somaliland in the last ten years. It focuses on assessing the compliance of Somaliland’s electoral processes and practice with international and regional standards governing the conduct of elections. This task is urgent and important in light of Somaliland’s upcoming Local Council, Legislative, and the overdue House of Guurti elections and the tensions that have surrounded the 2010 Presidential election process during the lead-in period.

why majeerteeniya can't immitate even partially the democratic system in Somaliland?!!! why there are no free multy-party system in Somalia as a whole and in socalled Majeerteeniya? Why Dhulbahante and Warsangeli and dashiishe are treated by majeerteen as minors who must be always headed by someone from majeerteen sub-cla? Why Majeerteen invades warsangeli and dashiishe homeland and commit genocides against innocent villagers who are forced to flee their ancestral region? Why, why, why?!!!

  2. M.H.Buraleh says:

Dayday have nothing to be proud of,to know the truth in that part of Somalia ask their neighbors(Ogaden,Awdal,Makhir & SSC).

    • Gobaad says:

Minority geed ay qabsato wayday oo cid ay tirada ku biisato rabtaad tahay oo kula yaabi maayo. First of all, there is no such thing as SSC. Secondly, you don't speak for neither Awdal nor Makhir. Impersonating people you don't represent is so laughable and just shows how desperate expansionists from Putland are. It will be better if you use your energy elsewhere or on something positive – intaad Somaliland ku xiiqayso.

You must seen the welcome the President and his delegation received from Somalilanders from coast to coast. That certainly cancels and supersedes any false claim from Putland and its puppets.

  3. mohamed cheers says:

Somaliland elections review to lay down a newly governing regulations different than the
ambiguities of the last 10 years is absolutely important so to speak. Any good ideas from the
two opposition (Ucid Udub) parties must also be studied and taken into consideration. Basically
avoiding the past mistakes should be motto. These outstanding elections are long overdue and it's high time the Kulmiye Government stood up to get busy in organizing the elections with all the necessary available means and measures in place.
    Cheers.

These are they type of issues that are the BACK BONE of Somaliland. The president should turn his attention or at least send the very honourable and competent Vice President to oversee this process to ensure it is conducted with the utmost care and due diligence. And Allah(swt) make it easy and continue showering his blessings on Somalilland and its people.
