I'm looking foreword of seeing a large number of happy faces commemorating for the occasion. Those who can't make it to be there at the event, I wish everyone to have a very merry May 18th and prosperous future…..wherever you're on this planet…

osman5, you will fill us in how it went.
Gobaad,
It depends on my accessibly and whom I'll pump into. I know a few old friends there.
I'm not from that vicinity, so, it'll be a long drive am only planning on staying there not more than a day. I'd have to resume they work and family responsibilities on Saturday, the 19th in lieu of Friday.
My understanding is that the event will go on for 2 days.
Albeit, I'll have a few things awaiting on my desk and the aftermath on the next day I'll do my best to fill you in as much as I can..
Osman Qaal
ok good willing to reach recognition soon
We have our own conference to worry about, why waste time following around incessant southern conferences. Fly like a balanbalis and sting like shinii :) Go shine Somaliland, May Allah be with you, amen!
Amal,
Wow! You are translating Muhammad Ali's famous quotes. Igawalood,Abiti, afdilaacsaday – maalindhow af-Soomaali laguugu botorinaynin :-)!
Hargeisawi-In-London,
lol
I think we are doing the wrong thing by lobbying ourselves instead of going to the IC community and explaining our stance. I agree it is important that we lift up the spirits our expatriates ,but we are in the technology era and this can be done through video conferences rather spending hundreds of thousands on plane tickets and travel allowances.
It was more appropriate to spend this money on something more important than attending a conference in Virginia. I think holding that conference in Hargeisa and inviting international institutions, diplomats, think thank organizations, international media and law makers, would have served us much better and this is why.
!. Unprecedented exposure of our country to the outside World.
2. Our local economy would have benefited from the money we are spending on foreign trips.
Granted. However, these celebrations are being organized by the Somaliland US diaspora
and not organized by Hargeisa locals. In my view, that's a different subject all together.
Now that for the first time, the Somaliland US Diaspora are organizing such high profile
celebrations bringing together all these highly important diverse delegates, let's say kudos
to the conference.
Cheers.
Correction: this is not the first time a conference was organized in Virginia. Similar conferences were organized by Saeed Migaag ( may Allah grant him paradise). during Riyaale's administration and I remember prominent Somalilanders taking part in those conferences, but nothing too exciting came out from those early ones. These were attended by some state dept official, Think Thank orgs. and few academicians Plus a delegation from Somaliland.
If I'm not mistaken Saeed was planning to hold following conference in Hargeisa, but unfortunately he passed away before that (may Allah grant him paradise).
Tks for feeding me..let's see how this one makes any differences.
Cheers.
I wish you all a fruitful conference in Virginia, there is no doubt that every Somaliland gathering is always a pleasure.
I wish all of you a save drive and specially those who are driving from Canada. It is almost twelve hours drive from Ottawa/Toronto to Virginia. it is easier and more fun to collectively rent a bus than to travel individually by car.
If all that's said remains really true, then really this Somaliland May 18 2012, which will be held
in Northern Virgina, is indeed an unprecedented high profile event unlike the previous occasions. Special attentions should be exerted to focus more on lobbying the US Govt top officials of influencial significance in the US/World stages and the leading US Media by the organizers. I wish every success for the celebrations to achieve all the aspirations for bringing together all these highly important delegates on this event. Best greetings and highest regards to all those attending the celebrations and special word of thanks to the organizers.
Cheers.
I'll be there Insha-Allah next friday! Already got my ticket. This will be my first Somaliland conference.I will observe and participate, but if i see anything i can mock i bet you i will weigh in on this boards when the reporters and pundits report.
Somali land is not heading to the right direction because of the following reasons: First and foremost, we need to sit-down with our brothers Khatumo people. On the same day, they are organizing opposite meeting to show the American people that we are One Clan. At this point we will not succeed our objectives. Secondly, we need to unite all the tribes so that the international community can lessen our plea.
looooool @ will get recognision dude pigs will more likely to fly.
viva khaatumo state and all Somalis … united we stand devided we fall
Khatumo can organize all the demonstrations they want, after all the USA is a free country.Somaliland has nothing to worry about intellectually defunct project of Diaspora Khatumo supporters.Somaliland is a healthy and robust country. Everything is wide in the open.Their demonstration being held a day earlier before Somaliland celebration acts as a catalyst to expose the naivety of this people. They lack sophistication and worldly ideas.I wish the world runs as simple as they think.
What is Khatumo? Anyone can make up groups fasely? It has no significance nor is it even worth mentioning to Somalis or Africams. If Somaliland hasn't had luck with African to re-recognise it what makes these clowns worhty of any aacknowledgement? Sorry but you are just fools who are merking waters…
Somalis are being dubiest into name calling i.e division furhter then in their realm? Most think these are even considerable but they are laughable and cause greater ridicule to Somalia then Alshabab or ahlisunah or even dare I say Puntland… What a joke on yourselves you play?
The people of Khaatumo and Cayn, are our brothers and sisters. We all need each other, and going to Wanlaweyn will not give you any leverage at all. God, has created us in a same place, and we have the same culture, enter connection that continued centuries. 99% of them are with Somaliland, and the rest few will not change anything on the ground, and they will come back to the fold, because there is nothing for them out there in Wanlaweyns lap. What the few are doing outside Somaliland will be short-lived, and SACA FAARSO TEGEY, SODDON MAALINTUU QADADO, SANDULLUU KU SOO NOQON, is the fact that we all waiting for.
Dualehoow sxb hadalku hadu xad dhaafo wuu isku fasaqqa. ma garatay. hadal soo noqnoqday laga fiican.
Cheers.
@ Mohamed Cheers
You are right, Dualeh must grow-up and must stop repetitively talking nonsense.
Do you honestly believe in your heart what I said is nonsence? If that is true, then you don't any good for Somaliland.
Guys,
Leave Mr. Hussein alone, he thinks is the only righteous person here. Remember his beautiful letter to Qatar?
Nobody is after Omer, he's after himself in so many ways. He's his own funny kind grid!
He seems to have prison warden skills..those who finally do the execution lethal injections to kill
the wouldbe executed. the guy has no breaks.
Cheers.

Omer Hussein Dualeh nice one tell those morans the recognition of somaliland lies khaatumo just like back in the days when colonial power came to the land… and what is the first question people ask when somaliland talks about its recognision are all people in north somalia united the answer is NO…
Great people of Sool are part of Somaliland just some groups that are used to destroy by enemies of Somaliland are resorting to violence. We have the national army and peace loving chunks of that region who, side-by-side, are willing to defend Somaliland at any cost. The "flight thirteen" ex-faqash groups will do no harm to the Virginia Conference as thier counterparts in London could not spoil the London campaign. They are used by foreign occupied Somalia Groups and the world knows it. Every argument that pro-Somalia politicians make points out to Khatumo and uses it as an instrument to undermine the legitimacy of Somaliland. This is their last card to play.
good point. I think you've hammered the nail squarely on the head..well done..
Osman Qaal
"To fight is not to be civilized" I was the person suggested talking to Khatumo people will be an important of our recognition ,but most of you who opposed this idea believe tribalism This shows your understanding of human life. Believe it or not you are the enemy of Somali land. On the Other hand, Those of you who supported keep up.
