On the occasion of 18th May 2012 Somaliland Society in Europe (SSE) wants to extend its heart felt wishes to all the nationals of the Republic of Somaliland, both inside the country and in the Diaspora.

The historic day of 18th May 1991 marked the beginning of a new era for the people of Somaliland and indeed for the people of the Horn of Africa; and an end to an illegitimate union with Somalia. In addition to its 3.5 million people, Somaliland has over the past 21 years offered sanctuary to people fleeing violence, wars and famine. It has become a beacon of stability and democracy and has set an example of nation building to many countries around the world. These achievements give Somalilander reason to celebrate. To celebrating 21 years of sustained progress and political maturation.

SSE wants to congratulate the Somaliland community in the USA which this year is organising one its biggest celebration event. Similar preparations are underway in the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia. Where ever they are Somalilanders are celebrating, and they have a reason to do so.

The historic day of 18th May in not only an occasion to celebrate the reinstatement of Maandeeq (independence) Somaliland has lost 5 days after gaining, it also an occasion to commemorate heavy the price which the people of Somaliland have paid to regain the lost Maandeeq. It is a day to commemorate the struggle and sacrifices they have endured; and a day to remember the tedious reconciliation processes our wise elders have engineered.

Most importantly it is day Somalilanders with one voice remind the International Community of their aspiration to join the League of Nations.

SSE strongly believes that the recognition of Somaliland as a sovereign state is in the interest of the international community as a recognized Somaliland could play a significant and unique constructive role in the reconciliation of the faction in Somalia and it will contribute to the stability of the Horn of Africa region.

SOMALINDERS EVERYWHERE YOU ARE CONGRATULATIONS!

  1. Omer Hussein Dualeh says:

Congratulations to my nation in a big way. Hope we shall have similar occasions and prosperous future. EU and USA, has to wake up, before it's too late.

I say to my people, keep protecting the peace we cherish, and be vigilant to those outsiders and the few within, who are adamant to subvert our nation. Keep remembering what they have done to us, and don't you ever forget.

  2. Kayse says:

Two subclans celebrating the day G unit and Tuur liberated them from Morgan. Every year its getting smaller. From the big show that Fuad Omar and Sir Mohamud took part in London to single mother gathering like this one.

The project to run away from Somalis because the two subclans cant get power in Mogadishu is looking to be fading away.

  3. Mahad says:

Kayse saxiib get a life…stop all your hate and grow up. Life is short to be so hateful and this sort of nonsense is clouding your judgement. All you had to say was HAPPY 21 YEARS of PEACE, LOVE and HARMONY…now was that hard…viva Somaliland

  4. Abraham says:

    @Kayse
Saaxiib this will never turn into a civil war as you are claiming because the shameless anarchists are from a sub clan of HY and were brainwashed by their greedy elders to take up arms against their government. The rest of HY are patriotic and condemn those Neanderthals. I do and so do my HY sub clan in Sanaag.

  5. mohamed cheers says:

Ideologically brainwashed empty vessels make much cluttering noises..that's Kayse who all of a
sudden turns hostile and declares all out open war against the peaceful Somaliland Republic.
The true colors of what Kayse stands for is out in public. He's responsible for his actions and
made his choice and whatever consequences his irrational and irresponsible and unbecoming
behavor would henceforth end up with is any body's guess.
    Cheers.

  6. Gobaad says:

Happy Anniversary Somaliland and Many Happy Returns on the Day!
