Qorulugud-Somaliland Army has today repelled an offensive launched by a Buhodle milita on a site of peace conference which was expected to take place on saturday
The skirmishes broke out after militiamen aligned to Buhodle launched an assault at Kalshaale the venue of the proposed peace conference which was about to open today between traditional chiefs from Buroa and burco.
The conference was organized under the auspices of Somaliland Minister for presidency and the ex-leader of SSC Saleban halgatosiye.
According to sources on the ground told Somalilandpress.com that militia men from Buhodle were opposed to reconciliation conference hence their intention to disrupt but their offence was deterred by Somaliland National Army who was keeping the security at the venue of the conference.
The peace conference was aimed at bringing end long running animosities two ethnic communities which have beleaguered the lives of many people in that region.
Somaliland National Army overcame the attacks by the militiamen forcing them to retreat, it’s yet not clear who led the militiamen since the original buhodle militia led by Saleban Haglatosiye had ceased all hostilities towards Somaliland.
Eye witness in the area confirmed that there were no casualties were reported between the two sides.
The conference went on as planned and both sides agreed to resume reconciliation talks after the end of the Hajj Pilgrims.
