ALNUUR Furniture Company scoops this year’s entnerupurership Award the second year in a row courtesy of ASAL JET the conveners’ of the 2nd Somaliland Business fair in a ceremony held at Hotel Mansoor, Hargeisa.

Somalilandpress.com caught up with the young Entnerupurer Mr. Mr. Abdurrahman Mohamed Nuur during the award ceremony at Hotel Mansoor, we started by asking the recipe to his success.

The secret behind the success of AL-NUUR furniture is modestly, revealed Mr. Abdurrahman of which we are known for providing a contemporary look for people with limited space and budgets. “We put together furniture and interior design services that are not just for the rich and famous,” But it’s more related to our customer satisfaction and a service which is known to stand out from the others , Mr. Abdurrahman said.

When Abdurrahman first opened the furniture store, he didn’t have any idea he was entering an already overcrowded market rife with big and tough competitors.

Since launching the AL-NUUR Furniture company back in 2001, Abdurrahman says that sales of furniture, accessories and artwork have exceeded our expectations at AL-NUUR and since then we have been so strong and we also knew we had to find a new warehouse in addition to the storage space.” We just recently opened our 3,100-square-foot showroom which is situated opposite Radio Hargeisa earlier this year.

“Our furniture is of excellent quality and everyone who comes to our showroom thinks it’s wonderful,” Mr. Abdurrahman added.

When Somalilandpress.com inquired about the advantages of AL-Nuur current merger with Haboon-Deeqa brand which deals in feminine fabrics and beauty products, he simply said that joint ventures in retailing have many benefits, including shared operating overhead costs, joint cost-saving advertising and promotion campaigns, and the ability to draw from each other’s strong customer base.

We looked at where our suppliers were getting their merchandise and found their manufacturers overseas,” Abdurrahman said. “That when, we decided to started buying our own products directly, “Now we control our own products and we can offer furniture that no one else has. “Added Mr. Abdurrahman.

AL-NUUR Furniture Company offers its own unique service which provides a free delivery of Goods to its esteemed customers, not to mention our delivery people who are excellent, too.”

This been the second  year in a row for  ALNUUR Furniture  to scoop the top award,  just  having won the  top award as the best company in Somaliland during the inaugural Somaliland Business Fair in Hargeisa in Dec 2011. The organizers of the SBF which attracted over 125 companies from 30 countries subsequently awarded ALNUUR Furniture the SBF First class commercial company certificate.

Al-Nuur literally has the cheapest furniture in the country (quality)… The furniture stores in Bacadlaha have better furniture… I still can never get to grips how easy it is to convince Somalilanders to shop at a particular store because it is 'Faashin' even if the quality is really poor…

The only reason they received this award is because they discovered marketing last year and have lined the pockets of Asal Jet and others with their very ambitious marketing drive. Only way I can explain how they have won the entrepreneurship award twice for the same entity.

This is not even a fair nomination nor voting. Anyone who has ties with the organizers always wins depending on how they teamed up for example how can a furniture store team up with a clothing?

Al nuur imports all their products from China and they are cheap as chips. The things they sale for thousands are no more than $200-$300 in Australia…you go to cheap stores to get that.

The local produce are better and last longer. Chinese only make the top products for the top companies and they are copyright protected and are purely for Western markets even local Chinese people don't see them.

Al Nuur buys what the local Chinese buy just like most Africans.

Al nuur will get old and people will change their mind, bedding and furniture is tough business and if al nuur doesn't improve its prices and products—people will see the gap and open one next to them like Darasalaam, etc.

Furniture isn't my passion but for those who wish to be in that industry, I recommend Malaysia and Indonesia rather than buying from the Chinese.

Malaysian products are high quality and reasonable prices.

You can always import temper from Brazil and make your own furniture, its not hard, all you need is one or two carpentry guys.

Here is one supplier from Malaysia: infurnex.com/home.html

Al Nuur stop ribbing the poor local people off. We are connected people and ones the word is out you will become like Dhiigshiil, the most hated Somali company.
