Somali government forces with the backing of the African Union troops have expanded their control outside Mogadishu.
Afgoye, Bal’ad and Lanta Buro all that are in Lower and Middle Shabelle region of South Somalia are among the new towns placed under the control of the UN backed transitional federal government that has spent three years trying to dislodge the Al-Shabaab fighters who controlled the vast south and central Somalia.
Elsewhere Mogadishu is enjoying relative peace and calm following the Somali and African Union forces offensive in Al-Shabaab fighters controlled regions outside Mogadishu with the war torn city now recovering from the two-decade civil war with business reopening and government reconstructing the roads and other basic amenities for its citizens.
Somali government forces have also enhanced the security operations in these newly seized towns and are calling on the locals to open up their business, promising them adequate security and protection from Al-Shabaab fighters. Somali Army Commander also calls for an end to the combat in Somalia following the latest victory against Al-Shabaab fighters.
The African Union Mission to Somalia AMISOM has intensified its offensives since August last year following the withdrawal of Al-Shabaab fighters from Mogadishu and have secured the districts adjacent to Mogadishu including Afgooye corridor that served as home to more than 400,000 internally displaced people.
AMISOM also calls on the peace loving Somalis to join the other people in rebuilding the country from the ruins of years of civil war.
Completion of the draft constitution, improving the security of the country and elections of new lawmakers are among the pending tasks left for the Somali administration based in Mogadishu with barely a month to the end of the current Transitional Federal Government.

i have seen some pic from lido beach i swear to god that mombasa got nothing like that. i wish i could go their.
Although the Capital Mogadiscio in particular, has recently become a spell of good relief from the mayhem warlording calamities over a long haul, it still looks that enormous tasks of unfinished
businesses are left to be executed. The draft constitution, security issues, elections of new lawmakers,
from the new lawmakers, presumably two chamber parliaments like the Somaliland lower/upper
Congress/Senators()guurti model role, election of new President/PM??? …all these and Alshabab freedom fighters still strong, probably leaning towards the new Muslim brotherhood of Egypt,
with barely a month to the end of the current TFG?, it would seem unlikely that the enormous
unfinished tasks would be perfected in time. What would happen is anybody's guess.
Cheers.
good luck to u somalis
if somalis use a bit of comonsense then there’s a chance of peace’ wish them luck
I agree, it is like with a drug addict. If a drug addict does not want sobriety nothing, and no one can change them. Same thing applies here, if people do not want peace it wont come because they will be busy fighting and killing each other. But it is obvious from the little changes we see, that the Somalis back home especially want peace, they are working together side by side to bring peace back to the country, alhamdulilah.
somalis will never understand that the curse of is longlasting. Somalis known We Isaaqis know as faqash supported the dictator Siyad barre in his failed attempt to eradicate the ever victorious nation of Shiikh Isxaaq bin Axmed who are the sons and daughters of the sahaba. But although these faqash forces commited genocide agains our nation. We were able to resist them and decisively defat them and thus we brought the socalled statehood of Somalia to its knees. It is the curse of our nation that is still does and will continue to doe justice for us. Long live Somaliland.
This year even though their was a terrible famine in Somalia in a weird but wonderful way is starting to look like the best year sins the ousting of the ICU. 1 Evidence show its on a road to recovery and hopefully can only get better after august . 2 Our number one destabilizer Meles Zenawi is on his deathbed or already dead courtesy of cancer with a power struggle being reported already between the elites of who will succeed him and even if he survives got what people describe a Ethiopian version of a Egyptian Arab spring on his hand. Meaning he might not come back at all to the country but instead flee with all the money he accumulated seeing as he was looking to retire anyway which also means Western-Somalia/Ogaden might have their freedom sooner than we thought which is a big big big bones. 3 The future is definitely looking brighter not perfect by a long shot but hey everything starts at the bottom and in Somalia's case its a mountains climb with no harness to the top
I think he is dead already. I don't wish death to any human being but he was a dictator who undermine the Somali people by exploiting their differences. I would have wished him guidance but too late now
If somalis would have solved their differences by loving one another based on their deen first and foremost and their ethnicity then no one would have been able to exploite their differences. That said, his death will not bring any change until somalis change themselves first. Allah states " “Truly, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” (Quran 13:11)
@ DaughterOfSomalia
Well said sister. Somalis can forever blame everyone else for their failure. If they don't change themselves then everyone will exploit them and nothing will change. Allah helps those who help themselves.
