Well, well, my fellow Somalilanders, brothers and sisters all eyes are on the forthcoming president Ahmed Silanyo’s cabinet reshuffle though it, is fair to say that Mr Silanyo’s cabinet are mainly from the Somaliland diaspora Community, they’re, degree holders doctors and even engineers while this is a positive move by president Silanyo’s administration and the country at large, Thus recently there have been a lot of talks, speculation and debate about foreign minister Dr. Mohammed Abdillahi Omar lack of experiences in foreign affairs and in the diplomatic arena, is a major concern amongst the Somaliland diaspora and intellectuals.
The current foreign minister Dr. Omar does not seem to have, the relevant skills, expertise needed to lead this very important department at a time of global challenges and Somaliland’s desire for international recognition.
Since his appointment as a foreign minister by president Ahmed Silanyo exactly 2 years ago Dr., Omar have, shown that he is not very good communicator (public orator) in order to sell Somaliland’s case for international recognition, he also have made, so many contradiction when holding talks with the weak outgoing TFG government based in Mogadishu.
In conclusion I think that president Ahmed Silanyo should move Dr. Omar to another ministry department like planning or health, don’t get me wrong people Dr. Omar is very reliable his motive are good but Somaliland foreign minister needs to be a heavy weight,

I agree. Dr Sacad Cali Shire would perhaps be a better candidate for the foreign ministry.
I think Dr Sacad Cali Shire should have been appointed the Finance Minister, after all he has a PhD in economics
Nay. DR Shire is no good for the Diplomatic job to replace DR Omar. Think again.
Cheers.
I have to disagree. Mohammed Abdillahi Omar has come along way the past two years, he's had a steep learning curve, but he was proven himself to be the most hardworking minister in the cabinet. Somaliland has made greater inroads interms of international relations relations in the past two years than past 20 years. I think he should see his term in office out. There are countless other ministers who are not shifting there weight that need to be reshuffled, if not sacked.
well said.
Cheers.
Oh Jama the cook, Since when did you became an intellectual weren't you my cook.
Oh! Jaahil iska hadlay iga dhe!
Dhuguse also known as Jama and many other names. Good luck!
Who, What,
Kaafar
It is obvious that you don't know this minister as much as you believe you do. This is the man who is responsible for all the exposure, prestige and reputation that Somaliland has achieved in the short time he was in office. Empty criticism is not health…it would be better if you pointed what could have been done differently and show how that is linked to the inexperience you have mentioned. This would provide substance to your criticism.
Like your comments.
Cheers.
you are just wasting your time, there is nothing called international recognition for somaliland. Have you seen the last move
by your masters? Britain is going to open an office in hargaisa and its headquarter is going to be in mogadishu.
You just need to understand that the world and all somalis are trying to make you understand, don't you?
If the best man in the forighn ministry is doing his job right but the case is full of holes and it could easily be cracked by a 10 year old boy, is it his fault?
Ilyaas
Let me correct you buddy! The UK Office in Hargeisa will be under the jurisdiction of UK Embassy in Addis Ababa. Also the designated diplomats to run this office will be coming from that UK Embassy in Addis as this Office in Hargeisa will be an affiliation of it. The jurisdiction of that office was clarified by the designated Ambassador to Somalia on press conference which he held in Hargeisa during his last visit to Hargeiswa for Book Fair Exhibition. If you still doubt what I said, you can wait until it comes in front of your eyes!
You are so funny, are you a somali region in ethiopia? Mind what you say, you are a somali at the end of the day lol. It is just weird how you feel prowed of the brits and the ethiopians. You supposed to be a muslim fella
Ilyaas
Oh boy! Have you already felt the heat of the truth? Just wait few more months when everything comes before you!
Dhuguse, you clarified a lingering doubt. Ilyaas is just a child to your profound answer.
Cheers.
@Ilyas.
Your right,Some folks are day dreamers.as you mention nothing call s/land country in world stage.few countries will open council in hargiesa not Embassy, all These councils will be under Their Embassies in Mogadishu not addis.
I think it is too late to talk about it after two years of his appointment to that ministry. Now he gained a considerable experience and in fact he has proven to be a capable minister who knows well what he is required to accomplish as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
You said it all.
Cheers.
If Mr Mohammed Abdillahi Omer does have past experience for his work, who else has the experience for being a minister for the ministry of foreign affairs?
Mr omer Arteh Qalib used to be minister of foreign affairs in somalia. Now he is to old to take that burden. Anyhow Mr Mohammed is really very active and devoted for the cause of somaliland. Any one can make a mistake. Let's support him. If some one has a good a idea, please put it forward to the concerned people. It will be a credit for us as somalilqanders.
Somaliland is going through tough time and needs new blood which will bring fresh energy to this heavy weight post. Somaliland's lacks recognition which means that all he hard work falls on the department of Foreign Minister along with the parliament. Unfortunately recognition somehow has taken the back route which is not good for Somaliland's progress. For the last year and half Africa has not written much about Somaliland's progress which only translates to weakening foreign policy.
Somaliland should elect heavy weight personalities for the Foreign and Interior Ministerial positions even if they have to go out of the political party and get well qualified persons who can do the job properly.
Lack of recognition means that one has to travel huge miles to bring tangible results for Somaliland's dire need for recognition. The Parliament is also failing to make Somaliland ministers accountable for the work they are doing.
20th of August seems to be getting closer while Somaliland government and the Diaspora are kind of sleeping on this matter. Maybe it is only now that the penny dropped and everyone is kind of getting the fuller picture.
The good thing about Somaliland is that the public and Diaspora are normally vigilant but this time the government are the ones that are leading the way since everyone was giving them the benefit of the double leaving them to get on with their work in their first two years. Well their comfort time is kind of ending so they need to deliver what they have promised which is recognition, transparency among other things. Soon the public and the Diaspora will put the government on the test which will only prove that Somalilanders will exercise their democratic rights.
Frankly, your comment seems to me as a political campaign. Anyway, you have every right to express your personal opinion even though I disagree with you a lot.
WE DON 'T NEED TO WASTE OUR TIME ON PERSONALITIES…….THE PEOPLE ELECTED SIILAANYO AND HE IS ACCOUNTABLE TO US…HE MUST DELIVER….WHETHER HE ELECTS HASSAN OR MUSA DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE…….SIILAANYO IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY SHORT COMINGS…IF HE CHOOSES THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND THEY DELIVER GOOD LUCK TO HIM IF NOT HE FAILED US
HANNA
Hanna.. you are darling in her own mind.
Cheers.
what about jamaal ali hussien
The banker…He has yet to build his base thru Ucid under the guidance of big time Engr. Faisal Cali Waraabe..It would be some time before he's fully seasoned. Ucid may fit him well for the timebeing..
Cheers.
or mohamed yusuf ali gurey the londoner millionair
I saw him speak at the Dubai Somali Piracy conference last year and he was awful. The other Mohammed Abdilahi Omar (an Isaq former TFG Foreign Minister and older brother of Ragge Omar) who read Classics at Oxford put him to shame!!!!
We are discussing Somaliland issues here not TFG. Dr Omar is an intellectual fyi. Reading Classical Oxford English does not transform one into a brilliant leader all of a sudden.
It is called Classics old chap….get the name right!!!!
What a pretender
there is no truth to this article…the foreign minister has done a lot to highlight the case of Somaliland in the international community. He's highly respected within the Somaliland government and by those who closely follow developments in the country.
WE DON 'T NEED TO WASTE OUR TIME ON PERSONALITIES…….THE PEOPLE ELECTED SIILAANYO AND HE IS ACCOUNTABLE TO US…HE MUST DELIVER….WHETHER HE ELECTS HASSAN OR MUSA DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE…….SIILAANYO IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY SHORT COMINGS…IF HE CHOOSES THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND THEY DELIVER GOOD LUCK TO HIM IF NOT HE FAILED US
Almost all the bloggers seem to be in favour of DR Omar continuing his portfolio Diplomatic
Post for obvious different reasons explained by the bloggers. The timing is also of the utmost essence.
On August 20/12 the TFG is dissolving and being replaced by the new roadmap treaty Signatories
of all inclusive Somalia without the Somalilan Republic. DR Omar as the team leader for the Somaliland setup delegation committees to negotiate on behalf of Somaliland with the new roadmap
of Somalia joint authorities, I concur with the unanimous in favour opinions to keep DR Omar to
continue as untouched for the timebeing. DR Omar shouldn't be underrated for all the diplomatic hassles the job itself entails. In all fairness, DR is building up fairly well and there should be no panic at this stage.
Cheers.
Useless. They all useless and should return to wherever they came from. Omar is is the only non-habar Silanyo still running after Silanyo but the reshuffle of the habar councils will expose their true relations. Keep reshuffling the habro but warlord Silanyo will not win any support. Everyone is now against him
Kayse I have a good job that can make you busy for your good English. How about if you are offered
to replace DR Omar, just to keep you busy talking to the IC big real time, instead of sizzling
around with your malicious evils which would lead you no where?. Maybe by flirting around with your
unfiltered big mouth crazy stuff would accelerate the recognition of Somaliland. Think about this good
promotion and let's know!
Cheers.
mohamed cheers maybe Sii'lanyo should offer u wasiirka jiirka iyo bisadaha.
Shaqada waxa ku fiicaan Khaatumo Seeg iwm.
Cheers.
hahahaha Mohamed cheers dee khaatumo seeg don't support sii'lanyo and his family business in Morgan's former house. and since you're Sii'lanyo's biggest fan u should consider it
There's no other place for Khaatumo Seeg other than to follow the leadership of
Somaliland Republic…Their beloved homeland. Buhoodle is wisely coming along.
The rest including Taleeh should follow Buhoodle. The dhuloz big time dignitaries
support Silaanyo and the few left behind should follow soon because there's no other
place for them to gain real power except their beloved homeland… Somaliland.
Cheers.
mohahahaha Mo Cheers,
Somaliland used to make sense before my visit but seeing is discovering. The place is non-existent and the so called government is bunch of diaspora blood suckers who are they to steal every donated penny from the locals.
From warlord Silanyo to aviation minister, they all bought mansions in London and Nairobi on the expense of the poor.
Like I said my war on Silanyo and his corrupted habro Councils has not began and when it does you will know.
Next year I am going to Hargeisa to assemble my first team and from there the rebels will begin their job inside Hargeisa. It does not take a lot of money to recruit. I can lobby my own donor nations.
Dr Omar is just a complete failure, he did not achieve a single thing. He just runs around like a headless chicken. What you need is not a good English but strategy and ideologies. You can hire a PR company to write speeches and statements for you.
No one is going to recognize this corrupted habroo ministers so they can eat everyone, hell no.
Silanyo does not sleep well these days and he knows whats coming in his direction. My war on Silanyo, terrorist member Hersi Gaab and Amina Weris is going to start soon. Since I began my anti-comments, there has been already huge influence. So called "Somalilanders" already fled from here thus already evidence of division…all the ones fled are Habro Silanyo…thus they went to find HJ blog.
I did not do much and I already achieved results…there is huge growing dislike of Silanyo in Somaliland today and Dhiigshiil hack put the icing on the cake—they got shut down and everyone fled from them, thus less income for warlord Silaanyo.
Kayse Bhai, I heard nothing new being familiar and knowing your styles. Btw every Tom
has his say, it's obviously clear that you have deliberately choosen to have an all out war
against one special Habro Jeclo clanship Because of the President Silaanyo holding
the highest office in the Country, singled out of all the other clanships…is to me a criminal conspiracy subversive omen…in which case the competent Authorities should act to either
submit or act responsibly to do something of your criminal offensive nonsenses.
Cheers.
mohamed cheers
Hala wadin qofkan Kayse isku sheega! Waa qof buka ilaa xad, cid gaar ahna cuqd*d fogaatey ayuu ka qabaa. markaas iska dhaaf meelihiisaa haysaga xaa*xaa*ree!
Khaatumo Citizen
Hahaha! I'm ready to take over that offer for rats and cats position if Mohamed cheers has turned it down, but can you direct me how to get it and what kind of job description is required?
what about haber hirsi,,,, hirsi does he have any plotical experiance ,or enough knowledge, mohamed abdilahi omer is p.h.d holders……be fair and say fair don`t be haber silaaanayo.
It does not make any meaningful sense to average normal human being Thinker what This author wrote here.
Changing dr omar or replacing will not bring recognition. it does not really matter whether silanyo brings heavy weight, middle weight or light weight.
Dr omar had The wrong key trying to open a locker,no one has That key.
I came face to face for the first time with Mohamed Abdillahi during his last last to London. That changed my impression of the guy. Contrary to what I thought previously, I found him a very pleasant and down to the earth kind of a guy. I think he is good to socialize with but is not good to be the foreign minister of Somaliland at this time in our history. Why do I say that? I always Mr. Abdillahi very superficial in his analysis and in-depth knowledge of diplomacy. He has made some serious mistakes in the last few months publicly and these made him a untrustworthy in my humble opinion. What mistakes? you might ask and here are few for you to examine:
1. Openly told us on national TV that Somaliland was given an observership seat in IGAD, then back-tracked after a day or so and said that he was working on it and that seat was never granted to Somaliland.
2. After his participation in the infamous Istanbul conference, he made another gaffe were he claimed that the vice prime minister of Turkey was going to visit Hargeisa, that too was unfortunate untruth. The Turkish vice prime minister came to Mogadishu, but did not show the intension of visiting Somaliland.
3. Mr. Abdillahi is a very bad communicator and that was exposed, when the aim of the meeting between President Silaanyo and Shariif became blurry and the UAE latter explained it as a make-up, rather than a discussion on their future separation meeting.
4. Mr. Abdillahi runs a one man-show ministry, his ministry has no civil servants or experts at all. That is to say, the guy does not understand his assigned job. Even the furniture in his office is disgusting.
The only person who can evaluate Dr. Omar's performance is his boss (The President) so I don't understand what these fussy voices are all about. I think it would have been better if we leave that man alone and also to refrain from smiilar unproductive accusations towards certain individuals. Let us take book and pen and write down our own evaluations for upcoming elections. In the meantime, let us do what we can for our beloved country.
Dhuguse,
I think we are doing our civic duties, but if you think this minister or others are immune to evaluation, than that says a lot about you. Somalilanders will continue raising their voices whenever they see incompetency in current or future Somaliland governments, that is what differentiates us from our friends to the South.
@ Awil I am more than capable to be that person! You should lobby for me!
Somaliland Intellectuals somehow are not pulling up their weight. Since SL is not recognised there is not much to do in the FM department in terms of man power hours. Just think of it, few conferences here and there and so on. So anyone with minimum qualification can do the job right now. Plus Somaliland Diaspora help a lot towards this.
What Somaliland needs is an army of recognition lobbyists and cool minded somaliland advisors. Second these ministers should be challenged about how much result they produce. Without this they will be ministers in a suit who think big of themselves. This mentality has to stop. Accountability means that these leaders must have their ego on check 24/7. The current FM is not the first/second or third minister so the question infront of us now is how should he be different.
Somaliland is still in its early democratization and is not fully there yet. So let us not jump ahead of ourselves. Transparency is another issue that is haunting these departments. Until ministers become patriotic and summon their ego to the public I guess we will be in this predicament for a long time to come.
Finally we need patriotic zero ego centred personalities/leaders and intellectuals from Somaliland and the Diaspora to lead the nation into more energetic and vibrant nation. Somaliland is doing well but on the other hand we are stuck with pride led leadership that is not getting us any where. Results are what is needed and 20th of August will prove to Somaliland how far we are from the reality.
Regarding advice most ministers feel threatened when advised seriously, so the solution is to create a public intellectual domain to put these ministers in check. Most of the ministers are putting in minimum efforts which means Somalaliland's milestone will not be reached in the near future.
WE DON 'T NEED TO WASTE OUR TIME ON PERSONALITIES…….THE PEOPLE ELECTED SIILAANYO AND HE IS ACCOUNTABLE TO US…HE MUST DELIVER….WHETHER HE ELECTS HASSAN OR MUSA DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE…….SIILAANYO IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY SHORT COMINGS…IF HE CHOOSES THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND THEY DELIVER GOOD LUCK TO HIM IF NOT HE FAILED US
HANNA
Dr. Edna Aden Ismail again. If she is not available Dr. Sada Mire. If she is not willing can my grandmother have a go …sorry forgot she is dead.
The next FM must be a female. All the SL male FMs bombed..big time.
Every time I see the Somaliland foreign minister I really take a deep breath and ask myself why must God have such creatures like him who are waste of space and air around?? But then again I look around and see that there are millions of them. He is a chronic liar who lies way too much, grew up poor and in love with money that is why he is corrupted as the director general and the media exposed his corruption, when he opens his mouth I reminisce my high school days remembering some of my air head blond friends back in high school, I heard he is a wife cheater & a sex trader sleeping with innocent poor young girls in Somaliland and shameless whores every time he travels out of the country and for many more other obvious reasons.
The answer is really tricky here, but I think of the following names:
1 -Raqiya Oomaar (choice number one for obvious reasons)
2 – Faysal Ali Warabe (A chronic fighter and Silanyo needs to divert Faysal's energy away from him)
3 – Current minister of information Bobe (A solid guy who is aware of all Somali history)
4 – Liban Ahmed Ashur (head of Somaliland state protocol, don't know much about him really but I read some recent interview of him with foreign media and he was great, seemed skilled, young and educated and I heard he is related to Mr. Omer Arteh Qalib which is a plus)
5 – Current minister of planning Sa'ad Shire (this is a maybe and that is why I put him last)
This is my list Somalilanders so come up with a better one instead of wasting your hot air or tiring your useless green fingers from the qaat you just chewed or maybe chewing while you're typing and drooling all over the keyboard yaaaykss!! Get out of here!!! Disgusting!!!
First of all, I think he has to be replaced. Who should replace him? that is up to the president. However, whoever will come to this position must be heavy weight that has experience: Diplomatic experience, understands international politics, government protocols, articulate …
