Puntland Cautions Somaliland against the President’s visit to Sanaag region

GAROWE (SomalilandPress)—Somalia’s autonomous state of Puntland, has warned the Somaliland government not to set foot in the limited section of Sanaag that is controlled by militias loyal to Puntland. In a statement to SomalilandPress, Mohamud Siciid Nuur (Dabayl) who governs a pint sized section of the region, has announced that his forces are on high alert after they were informed that Mr.Silaanyo and his delegation were in the capital of Sanaag, Erigavo. Mr. Nuur (Dabayl) said “We would like to ask President Silaanyo to respect the peace treaty that was signed in 1993 by the local tribes in the area”.
Mr. Dabayl also warned the Somaliland ministers who hail from Sanaag that have been accompanying the President on these trips, to not enter the areas that are controlled by militias loyal to Puntland. Within the last few days, President Silaanyo has been touring the country’s eastern parts. He has yet to set foot beyond the base of the Somaliland forces in Sool region.

Thank you for the good intentions. I will stop calling them Majeertenia, when they recognize the territorial integrity of Somaliland. By the way, Majeertenia is the official old name of that region, Puntland only came into existence within the last decade or so.

Yusuf there is not wrong with Majeerten name is good name, Isaaq is name so what, Dhulbahante is name, Warsangali is name. I don't know why isaaq don't like to be divide why they divide other tribes, Dhulbahante from Sool, Warsangali from Sanaag, Majeerten from Bari, Mudug, Nugaal are all walaalo one father one mother so stop dividing one tribe.

Walaal you know that it is the Puntland administration which is a constant source of trouble for the local populations of Sool and Sanaag. They sponsor warmongering militias who terrorise the civilians of those regions. They regularly cross our border and carry out ambushes, kill and kidnap people, shoot women in the face, gun down devoted Muslims going into their local mosques to worship the Almighty. And as everyone knows they also hijack our cargo ships off the sea.

The whole purpose of majertenia, "pirateland"was declared few years ago was to destabilize Somaliland territorial integrity and they have tried for last 20 years and miserably failed. If Majertenia try to interfere with Somaliland affairs again, they will pay the price this time, that they will regret.
Erigavo has more HJ alone than all of Hartis. This town was gone long time ago, did they wake up today? Muse Ismail (HY) alone out numbers them in Erigavo. They should be talking about Las Qorey and Dhahar, the only two villages left for them. Real talk.

Based on the reality on the ground SSC folks completely reject the ideology of the Somaliland. soz reer Somaliland should voluntarily withdraws their militia entirely out of SSC territory & puntland should stop interfering in SSC internal affair.
i think the best solution is a referendum should be held in SSC to determine whether they want Union with somalia or somaliland.

Please go back to your history books. The people of Sool, Sanaag and Cayn are 100% Somalilanders and will not accept to merge other entity be it Somalia or Xasuuqland. But still you are free to dream, but please do understand that dreams do not change the realities on the ground – Somaliland will be free and united forever, like it or not.

Brothers, calm down! I happen to be an Issaq and proud of my somali heritage, although I reside in UK, while born and raised in Kenya, I am terribly ashamed of our people who despite the revolving desperate situation we see on our screens depicting Somalis as nothing but a bunch of uneducated backward self destroying people with tendencies to bring mayhem to the world through kidnappings, terrorism or piracy, to say the least. At the same time watching millions of Somalis living in a refugee camps in a dire most dispeakable sufferings ever inflicted on a human kind with no certainty for repreive. It is of these suffering of the Somali children, frail men and women that I condemn many of the posters here who continue to behave as if division, hatred, low self worth, or mindless barbarism are the flavour of the week. I have good friends from Harti, Ogaden, Hawiya and where I grew up, no one can distinguish between us Somalis since we are unique in appearance and the one language and religion that establishes our unique identity.

@Bashe, our reactions are coming in response to this specific article talking about this Dabayl guy's ridiculous claims. It really shouldn't be read into that deeply. It doesn't mean that we're against all tribes or don't feel for our brothers suffering in the south, it's a completely different matter actually. And I don't think any of us would stand here and try to argue as Issaqs we're ethnically different from other Somalis. Chill out with all that kumbaya nonsense. :)
