This drawing comes to us from artist Hamdi Abdisalam Yassin currenly living in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
The drawing protrays the present day political crisis in Ivory Coast where Mr. Laurent Gbagbo does not want to succeed after losing the election to President Elected Alassane Ouattara.

To pressure him through whatever means diplomatically or otherwise to convince accepting the election results. The ivory Coast is post colonial French and the French must find a good solution. If that fails then the AU and the West and the UN should adopt the Kofi Annan Kenya solution or even the Mugabe Zimbabwe Solution. If the African continent have dreams for the demanding Changes and challenges of the Millineum C21 the AU Govts. must learn to adopt and practice the policies of good governance and also live up to respecting election results to emulate the unrecognized Somaliland and so forth.
Cheers.
What has become of Ivory Coast? Are all African nations destined to fend up like this? Is South Africa next, or Botswana and so on?. Ivory Coast was once a shinning example of African development. Sure, there were those who talked of too much French influence (neo-colonialism) and the late President Boigny didn't tolerate opposition, but the country was upwardly mobile, now it has just become another African nation in distress, like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Somalia. Not to over simplify it, but the situation in Ivory Coast, is a Northern-Southern conflict, Muslim-Christian conflict.
DR.Congo and who else!.
Cheers.
i feel sorry for ivory-coast they not lucky as the republic of somaliland, while the former ruling party smoothly transfered the power to the new ruling party after presidential election results.
God bless Somaliland.
If the Eid Card I sent to you SomalilandPress was published, we could have averted the current problem at our courtyard – The problem created by those we elected to safeguard the laws of the country. The postcard was carrying a message to those elected people who has a limited want to safe our country. I am sure this could have resolved the current stalemate, but due to your shortsightedness you said to me that this may carry a virus to destroy our website. In this world there are those who believe the protect the ethics of journalism, but deny their contributors to express their opinion. That is SomalilandPress and no one else. The message that the Postcard was carrying was "Eid Mubarak, this is the occasion that you should ask the relatives, and friends, before you ask for food" and guess who was carrying this message !A GOOD & PATRIOTIC RUM! ama WAN in Somali. It was a message that could have made the difference. Those of you who want to see it, its with them the SomalilandPress.
Boqoljireh, what in the world are you talking about and what this has to do with this Irvoy Coast issue? Are you okay, Ina Adeer?
