Police arrest al Shabab suspect in Haregisa

Hargeisa (Somalilandpress) – Somaliland police arrested a man who is being suspected to have connection to the terrorist group Al shabab.  The man was captured after the police have conducted a large security sweep in Hargeisa.

The Chief of police Commissioner Elmi Robleh Fure (Elmi Kabaal) has told the press how the police captured the man.

“We have arrested the man after we suspected that he has links with Al shabab fighters. He told us that his name is Aadan Ali Abdiloow.  Now, we are investigating him to reveal the facts.” The commander said.

The police were put on high alert after the government of Somaliland accused Al shabab militants for several attacks that the police foiled last week. This arrest today could be direct result from last week sweeping arrests in capital Hargeisa. National police has implemented number of Security measures in Hargeisa and other large cities in the including increasing patrolling during nights and setting up check point in main streets and busy areas.  Since the presidential election in June of this year, Somaliland security services have foiled number of terrorist threats that were mainly attributed to extremist group Al Shabab.

On the same note, Somaliland Commander in Chief of the armed services, General Nuh Ismail Tani has disproved rumours about that Al Shabaab has recruitment canters in Hargeisa.
