An Open Letter to the Minister of Finance of Somaliland

It is really amazing and interesting issue last night’s message from the ministry of finance when the team of ministry of finance led by the minister of finance was appeared an opening discussion live on Somaliland national television the issue of taxation and the effectiveness of tax collection with in the citizens

The purpose of this meeting discussion was to display tax collection principle and community encourage to pay the due tax pay obligation with their properties, the team was combined several technical experts of the ministry of finance and heads of departmental sections

It is the first time that the ministry of finance organize for this session it was show us very comprehensive talent and techniques of collecting tax from the citizen, because the tax is compulsory payment to every citizen to pay,

Last night’s message from the ministry of finance give community an ambition revealed, the structure and the work performance of ministry of finance has changes and bring in new face which show positive development with in the ministry, according to the discussion number of trader owner participated in taking part the session discussion asking question related taxation and financial activities of the ministry

As honestly the minister of finance elaborated the different procedures of tax paying and it obligation during the payment, this words influence a large number of people sit in front of SLNTV, most the people in Somaliland realize the ministry of finance has bought new development way of encourage society paying tax and this will bring the progress of the country.

I like to recommend the following points:

Since the finance activities is so difficult provide orientation to the community to pay the due obligation of tax on time and tell the society paying tax will bring progress and development
Train staff with public financial management procedure and revenue collection techniques
hire qualified expert of public financial management in consult increasing source of revenue of the country and fiscal issue of taxation
develop software of tax collection and revenue receipt document measuring the volume of revenue collected
improve the macro economic goals department so as to increase and plan the macro economic objective of the country
make assessment the fiscal unit/department whether it is functional or not because the fiscal department is machine of revenue collection and budget foresting , if it is not so developed please make development as soon as you can do
psychological motive the staff and give direction to effective collect revenue, sale tax and income tax in fairness methods among the community

Final I like to appreciate the minister of finance for his performance in finance activities and honestly acting the implementation of tax collection, because if the country has not access to collect its revenue source it is easy to collapse in financial system of the country

KKKKK I am surprised that SP is allowing this kind of muddled and incoherent piece to appear in its website which is in my view the best website for debate and an excellent conduit for information and intellectual analysis among Somali speakers. I feel that this so called "Open letter to the Minister of Finance of Somaliland" fails to achieve any of that, so unless you want to blemish and demean your track record as probably the only Somali-run webportal for knowledge seeking and critical discussion, which could retrograde you and set you at bar with tabloids like Hadhwanaag and Qaran, I suggest you to stop posting pieces like this, which serves no purpose except to have the name of the writer for a moment of fame in the headlines. A quick examination of this piece shows that it is neither a letter nor an article but ratther an essay written by a 1st year college student and my advice to the writer is, without sounding patronizing, next time if you want to write something in the SP do your research first and then work on your English because if I was your teacher I would have given your essay no higher than a D – and C – with your level of effort.
