FARIBAULT — A state unemployment law judge must decide whether about 40 Somali workers at a Le Center food manufacturing plant were fired or quit in a dispute over their clothing.
The workers say discrimination by Dianne’s Fine Desserts led to their departure and therefore they’re entitled to unemployment benefits. The workers say managers told them to leave the plant June 4 because the Somali women weren’t complying with a new dress code that required their skirts to be 15 inches off the ground.
The Faribault Daily News ( http://bit.ly/MSOaUZ) reports a plant manager testified Wednesday he pleaded with the women to comply with the dress code, but they left the building. Testimony continues Thursday. The company revised the dress code after a Somali woman’s skirt got caught in a boot washer machine in May.

Islam like Christianity is a strong Religion which's recognized by the UN Universal Charter
of the Human races multilateral laws of Mankind and Mother Nature's overall laws.
This is an old incident and should be concluded if still in the corridors of the courts.
Cheers.
these stupid women are haw!ye and didn't comply with the dress code. imagine if a white christian came to work in a shop in hargaisa while wearing her bikini, the shop owner will obviously say no thankyou. plus it only 15cm of the ground and that is hardly asking them to work topless is it. Somalis are a big ugly joke and these filthy animals shouldnt be allowed to in the first world
Agree with you partly Kaboon! not nice to play tribe flag , however, we have created new religion clothing code and it is nothing to do with bieng muslim. we were Somalis long time ago and muslims as well and they co-existed, but now i do no know where we are going to with these strange outfits.
Somalis are not only idiots but they also failed to first seek proper jobs and then follow basic safety measures for their own interest and good.
What a bunch of nomads, they should be deported. How can they seek to work in Afghan and Saudi national costumes in a processing plant? Do they think this is Tora Bora?
All Somali ladies stuck in Afghan and Saudi national clothes should be deported from around the world including Somalia.
Please get another clothe and stop wearing parachutes no religion asked you to wear a tent to work.
The women have legal ground to sue the company. What they wear to work is immaterial to the fact that they were discriminated on the basis of religious attire. Ultimately, they'll qualify for unemployment compensation.
@Baboon, miyaa niin aad aheyn? war niin isku sheegagan isla xisho, maxa qabil soo dhaxgeesha sheegata.

It is unfortunate to see people commentating on their own religion's dress code where Allah and his messenger clearly has guided us on such issue. How could you have the nerves to describe their clothes in a sick mentality and expect to get away with it. Remember, Allah is watching every move of every letter you type to criticise these Muslim women who were sacked for the sake of Allah and just because they are hanging on the Islamic fundamentals, they receive such comments from what it appears to be their brothers. It is an irony to see a Muslim person speaking in the tongue of an atheist. If you have ever opened the Quran then you would know what does "muhsanaat" means and how Allah has promised such a severe punishment for those who are verbally slaying the muhsanaat, the believers.

Should have let it get stuck in the meat shredder so that she would die. Maybe the others would understand how important it is to wear proper clothing in certain business environment after watching one woman shred to death. If they want to wear tents, stay at home or get a job that allows such dress code. Stop trying to change everything to suit your religion. The US have no national religion, therefore we will not bend to Islamists or those who think their religion goes before the safety and respect of others. Go back to your country and change the laws there if that is what you want.
