The second in command of Kulmiye Party the current ruling party, and a strong supporter of the government Mr. Abdirahman Abdulkadir addressed the press on his utter dismay of the present government. Mr. Abdirahman said that the successfully elected government is lacking team work and co-operations thus breaking into groups within its own administration. He continued on by saying that “although the present government seems to be better than the previous government (UDUB), on the other hand, and in some cases, I give UDUB-the previous ruling government some praise by working closely with one another, and making sure that their party’s confidential issues or matters never leaked out, which, unfortunately, our current government clearly lacks.
It is necessary to have agreed procedure or system in place for a government to run a country. Regrettably, this government is not working as a team with each other and if this existing situation is not brought to an end now, it will have substantial consequences, Mr. Abdirahman said.
The president’s spokes person speaking on Mr. Abdirahman comments said “Mr. Abdirahman has always been a supporter of this government’s policy before it came to power and still is. The spokes person for the president continued on and said,” I’m very surprised with the comments coming from Mr. Abdirahman because he has always been a close friend to the president, he was a man with principles that never preached about tribal and/or ethnic issues, hence, it saddens me to hear this baseless remarks from him”.

    • Muslim says:

Do You not know that democracy is against allah's religion. Allah said in the noble quran"the people should not goven themselves but should be govened by the Book of allah."

TO HIM WE WERE CREATED AND TO HIM WE WILL RETURN TO

      • amal says:

what about when dictators oppress the people and no one know much about governing with the book of Allah except some who are extremist terrorist and misuse the deen like shabab or whatever. Even though Somaliland is democracy the Islamic sharia is practiced walalo OK.

  2. dutch-man says:

Great Article.Just shows level of education Somaliland has reached.

  3. abdi says:

    abdirahman's comment made me sick,

    • Ali says:

No, he did not make me sick, but he kicked himself and knocked down his front teeth politically. I thought he was a thoughtful person, but he proved me wrong, Mr. Abdirahman is just another Faysal with head full of grey hair.

  4. Harrago says:

Democracy growth existing Somaliland, allowed close-freind political figures to condemm each other, in a maner of ethics word

  5. burco says:

  6. Weerar says:

The son of Abdiqadir has been wronged and miss treated, it is in the interest of somalild to correct it before it is too late. Long live somaliland.

  7. Bedria says:

In a way I think he should be heard, but also the way he talked as abdi mentioned does not sound like someone who has the nations interest at heart. I could be wrong. But if these people failed like abdi said some sort of standardized test for officials that was given and they failed to pass, I am sure the government could have atleast given then sometime to correct the issue and perhaps still keep their posts.

Also like Abdi said is this the kind of government we want to build? One where how well you do something doesnt count but what clan or subclan your from? Its a double edged sword. I think the issue should be looked at an reviewed, if they can provide someone qualified for the positions mentioned then I dont see why they shouldnt get it.

As a side note, Gabose smdh. I was laughing when I saw how people were talking about him and his family. Its the truth they all are people who only look out for self interest and use people. Its funny how someones reputation travels walahi. How can you be a minister and give it up just because you didnt get the presidency, how about you serve the country and then leave wouldnt that make you more of a patriot? Anyways I guess I am glad he left maybe someone with real interest in serving the country will get the job.

  8. Hawiyie Guy says:

How can darood be oppressed in sool by Issaq somaliland government? they should rebel! your socalled unity is fake, now habar yonose and harti is rebeling aganist the habar jeclor government! you are going to end like somalia.

  9. Hawiyie Guy says:

I am soo happy to wact the disunity and coming civil war in your area

  10. Abraham says:

    @fake name guy,
There is no disunity in Somaliland and inshaa Allah there will never be one. What we do in our country is called political Pickering and is nothing like what they do in other African countries let alone in Somalia. Its more like the political saga between Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Peter Mandelson without the infamous memos.

  11. aswani says:

Just one question if I may. Although I’m naturally against tribalism, I was told by numerous highly intellectual men and women that back in the days hierarchy and civilization in Somalia was led by only 2 tribe from Somaliland these 2 tribes (only as I was told) were REER AHMED (SACAD-MUUSE) AND MUUSE CAARE (HABAR-YOONIS). I was also informed that they sold many Somalis to the westerners’ way back during slavery. So my question is, could this indeed be true or a myth? Because I’ve been hearing this ever since I was a child. And by the way, I’m not REER AHMED neither MUUSE-CAARE but rather Just a curious Somalilander.

Thus, your feed back is welcomed.

    • Degan Ahmed says:

      @aswani,
You are sick and uneducated. First you say that you don't know about tribes, then you name them, what a hippocratic and selfishness of you. In Somalilandpress, we don't talk about the beautiful tribes of Somaliland nor the others. We only talk about the news in the Republic of Somaliland. Do not come here and insult our beautiful clans, you stupid.

    • Gobaad says:

aswani, it depends on who is feeding you with these false and unheard stories. Kido a piece of advice, don't believe everything you hear because this is ridiculous!

  12. Mohamed_Mahmoud says:

    Abdi and Bedria

I am in the UK, but usually follow politics bak home.I have read with interest what you wrote. Yes, we have made a great leap and inshaAllah we will continue to move forward. Whilst I agree that we need to nurture the growth already achieved, we must equally accept and allow criticism of our failings, or what seems to others as failures. It is only when we are tolerant and acceptable to our own misgivings to be pointed to us, can we really make the fathom steps that our country needs at the moment.

Abdirahman Abdulkadir has the right to speak his mind. You might not agree with his opinions but he must be allowed to air them public without harm or hindrance. Afterall that is the government and country we all want – where everyone is heard.

Some may come with selfish agenda, and try to propagate them. But, we will never knew what the message is if we stop people from making their minds known and rubbish everyone we perceive to be a threat. Further, the fact that someone questions the distribution of resources, is not bad at all. There must be equity in distribution of jobs, and others resources so that no one is left out. Everyone must be included.

I think you are accusing Gaboose wrongly. He wants to be the president, there is nothing wrong with that, and he formed his own party, equally there is nothing wrong with that, too.

I agree with you when you said, “ Our national political parties should never be exclusive to a single tribe or serve single "Beel's" interest, but rather should be inclusive and be underpinned by strong ideological foundations, supported by social justice and equality before the law”. For us to reach that stage, we must first make sure everyone in included and jobs and other amenities are distributed equally amongst our people. If that does not happen, then we will not reach the stage where our politicians do not have the need to defend ‘narrow tribal interests’, as you put it.

Finally, we need to hear from the government and especially the president to respond to the comments raised by the Kulimiye party second in charge, who is number two to him. Silence will not make the issues raised go away.

    • abdi says:

I am glad you said we should hear from the government officials in charge of the ministry. Read the response from the deputy minister of Aviations at http://www.Gabiley.net. it just shows exactly what I suspected, that this is politically and tribally motivated. I also encourage everyone to check it out as well.

  13. boqoljireh says:

I am currently in Hargeisa and nobody talks about Ina Abdulqadir,s disgraceful issue here. Do you expect each and everyone who helped Kulmiye should be nominated to a cabinet post?

Mr. Awil has somehow responded to him.

  14. Degan Ahmed says:

This guy just wanted to be the deputy minister of interior and again it has nothing to do with his sub-clan. It is so just sad to see that most old guys just wants to hold a powerful position, Instead they should think about what is good for the country. I never heard them talking about our Somaliland economy which needs to grow more, nor about creating jobs for us( Somalilander youths). They have to realize that this smart government has only been in office for a year and that the corruption party is gone.

  15. waran-galbeed says:

I have read the Article of Mr Abdiqadir and i couldn't see any tribal thing that he mentioned there, but I think that he was only articulating the disunity and chaos that is apparent in the Kulmiye Government and i share his view. I have been a kulmiye hardliner and i was hoping that when they come on board that things will change to better but to my dismay that didn't happen and all these mistakes are happening because of the Silanyo's inability and mental deterioration as he passed to the age of sinior mentaly retired person who is above 80 years of age.

  16. mohamed cheers says:

The Somalilanders can not have it both ways; they should be satisfied to adapt to the democratic
multiparty systems or choose to remain under the tribalism saami qaybise. However the confusion
of this corruption which is neither this or that is really killing the Somaliland progress. There's no need
to blame a certain area; the dangers of tribalism taken into heightened bad levels is all over the Somaliland
Nation—a bad unproductive omen. A bunch of old tommies are every where discouraging educated
diaspora and the locally young educated youth and why is that is any body guess problem.

  17. Ibrahim says:

I agree 100% with Mr. Abdirahman Abdulkadir. I had high hopes for this government. The current incumbents from the president to low level officials lack a clear and coherent STRATEGY. No internal procedures have been implemented etc. This is all necessary for the government to move forward as one unit. They have chosen to work separately of one another which leads to disunity and disorganisation. There seems to be lack of understanding between various departments.
