Is it a hotel or a James Bond villain’s secret lair? The proposed Water Discus underwater hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, would take a room with a sea view to a whole new level.
The luxury hotel will be comprised of two main discs — one underwater, one above the surface, connected by three solid legs for support and a vertical shaft containing an elevator and stairway.
The movable underwater disc, surrounded by a coral reef and resting about 30 feet beneath the sea’s surface, will contain 21 hotel rooms, an underwater dive center and a bar.
The hotel is expected to cost between $350 million and $840 million to build.

Magnificent ,spectacular, splendour luxury hotel in Dubai(UAE). Hope to get the opportunity to
enjoy some of its pleasures. I heard that there are 7 skies above and 7 earths below
the central abodes of mankind…This is from the Holy Koran. Against these 7 above and 7 below
spaces, how far mankind knowledge reached in our milieu calendars? Overall not doing bad.
Cheers
Guess money talks after all. The oil money has created a whole new world in the middle East.
I wonder if a average Joe in Dubai can afford to spend a few nights at those artificial hotels to kick back and relax after long hours of work then he could say proudly I've been there, done that. The main reason I brought this up is that it gets me thinking as I hear Dubai has the tallest building structure in world (not any more it lost that status) Dubai also has the longest artificial ice rink skating/skiing in the world.
A world class car racing tracks are being underway, the golf courses are amazing.
I go that's fascinating, but what's the point. Who would want go to Dubai on vacation, the place is hot like a hell, the living standard is too high, every is tailored for the rich, Tiger Woods and alike. Are those rich Arabs actually spending all that money unnecessarily, just to show off? or are they counting on to recoup it from the average folks that work and live in Dubai?
I may look into pursuing an opportunity to work there for 8 months on a work experience exchange program starting at the end of 2013.. So since I'm totally ignorant about this mysterious place I'd like to have your take if you're presently living there, or lived it in the past, what is like working and living there for 8 months. …your thoughts..

Man only reached the surface of the first layer of the earth's crust and first layer of space exploration.
God says in the Holy Quran in this regard what means “Who has created the seven heavens one above another…” [Al-Mulk 3]
God says in the Holy Quran in this regard what means “It is Allah Who has created seven heavens and of the earth the like thereof (i.e. seven).” [Attalaq 12
To say this is futuristic is one thing but to say this is the greatest human engineering is false. Humans have done bigger and more challenging things than building a hotel underwater and I am talking about humans that exist centuries if not millions of years before us.
The Quran says: "Have they not traveled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built." SURAH 30, AYAT 9
My point was this hotel is really nothing new, the Western contractors are just scamming the Arabs…making them think as if going underwater is a great adventure. They built them hundreds of apartments and hotels and today the Khaleej are struggling to find clients for them.
Just another useless Western project and Arab oil money.
Good take Keyse!
Kayse,
I agree with you, those Arabs are wasting their money on outrageously priced building structures just to get them to be on the map, so, people would it looks fantastic let's go take look at it..
everyone recent graduate I know in the city I live in wants to go there sometime to have a nip on the pie and rush back home with fistful of dollars to pay up the mortgage quicker..
It's all scam, you're right. I know if you could recall it a couple of years ago the U.A.E government was in hefty debt.
It's shaky economy had almost tumbled. Some people were worrying of losing their shirts because they've had invested a lot of money on real state business in Dubai. the bubble got close to burst
inflation mushroomed nearly out of control, housing pricing plummeted to the lowest in the history.
non perishable food prices skyrocketed. I sat back, and say that what happens if you put all your eggs in one basket. I'd never get into an investment relies on one sole revenue.
Then, all of a sudden, the western oil firms and the world economic experts told them, let not get panicky, more oil well have been discovered in desert then everything went quiet again. The financial analysts are very cautious today to speculate on the future economic forecast of U.A.E, some may even advice you to stay away from it if you can based on the Middle East unstable economy and political volatility among other factors.. .the point being, how long this artificial world in the ME would go on…

The Arab countries and especially the gulf countries are extremely uneducated and they always buy scams from westerns. The only resource that they have is oil and nothing else. Their problem is that they do not invest a higher education system including Universities of high level, technology schools and great health care system. They don't know anything about technologies nor engineering and they do not produce great doctors and surgeon. They have the money today and they might not tomorrow. They completely lack of education. I don't know what they will do if they run out of money because their whole business is based on just oil trading.
I so want to see Arabia brag about academia like the golden days of Baghdad. Dubai can build up and down below the ocean—-if its not advancing in academic, all these glitter and mirages account to sifar (zero).
One reason 20+ Arab nations are unable to defeat one Israel is because of lack of academia and technology so investing in meaningless underwater hotels, hotels that touch the heavens mean nothing really.
I thought Dubai learned a lesson in the last bust. Most people are fascinated for a minute but once they see it they dont return…you need something that makes people stay and spend, thats how you recover your capital.
Dubai is just a transit….having been there myself its great place but what it has is enough. I doubt Abu Dhabi will rescue them again.
Dubai aim for golden Baghdad aka House of Wisdom and stop trying to attract few drunk Westerners and RSPCA employees hahahaha.
Lacagtii baa ka badatay and they don't know what to do with it.
Its like" look at us we can be just like you…please like us " The Gulf & SA have the highest incidents of Diabetes in the world, they should be pouring money into/setting up research institutions. They also have a massive problem keeping the majority of school leavers in further education.
Western world are investing in great things in the research department, technological, scientific and education whilst these Arabs are just dancing around foolishly with their money.
Folks, what's going on…I see the curse is on the Rich GCC. I know it all started from Tsnuami
Kayse. Don't believe him cuz you find the next time he talks, he will be on mars singing out
his usual songs.
Cheers.
mugdishu, berbera and other somali cities would be like that one day just beautiful..
that so betufull
