Hargeisa: Muslim Aid Distribute Food to 100 Families

Hargiesa (Somalilandpress) – The charity organization, Muslim Aid, distributed dry food to hundred of internally displaced families in Hargiesa. The food distribution took place near Hargeisa National Stadium, where many Internally Displaced Refugees (IDPs) from South and central Somalia and Ethiopia take shelter. Before the Eid celebration Musilm Aid distributed different types of food including Rice, wheat-floor and Vegetable oil.

Muslim Aid is an International charity organization based in London. The Organization conducts feeding programs around different parts around the World to assist the needy during the holy month of Ramadan. Muslim Aid has implemented many humanitarian and development projects in health, education, and water resources. Recently Muslim Aid finished constructing Second school in Borama and equiped computer lap in Burao University.

Mr Said Abdi Gaboobe, from the Ministry of the Religion and the Endowments was participated the food distributions activities needy in Somaliland.

The Director of Muslim Aid Hargiesa office Mr. Sidiiq Mohamoud Gahayr highlighted the role of Islam in supporting the poor and the vulnerable communities. And He said that Muslim Aid stand is to serve  humanity. Mr. Gahayr said that the Muslim Aid will create different development projects in Somaliland.

    Is this food grown locally or imported? That is a question no asks, I ask because all this food aid coming from outside is killing farmers market. I have lived in Somaliland for the past 3 years and I am amazed to find famers have no market for their product because of food aid. All and any organization claiming to help should be forced to buy from local famers which helps to provide jobs for the poor. Not hand out ship ship in from donar countries. Specially from Muslim Aid.
