Local EU statement
The European Union Heads of Mission congratulate Somaliland for the peaceful Presidential Elections conducted on 26 June 2010.
We commend the National Electoral Commission (NEC) for the leadership shown in the preparation and conduct of the elections. Political parties and their candidates have shown maturity during the election campaign. We also recognize the valuable domestic and international support in promoting a democratic environment.
The European Union Heads of Mission call on the NEC and on all political actors involved in the elections to facilitate a swift and transparent ballot counting and look forward to the final results, which should be accepted by all parties.

A resounding round of applause to all the players involved and made it happen, especially the National Electoral Commission for their leadership and their command of the situation under a less idyllic circumstance. They really deserve medals.
Rumour has it that Kulmiye Party is leading in a long margin. Go Kulmiye, go!
The EU heads of mission's recognition of the peaceful and meticulous
ways the elections were conducted adds to the Somaliland position going
forward into the twilights of yet another suuceesful story towards the
progressive world stages. Good job welldone. Keep it up.

It's good the EU mission has acknowledged the peaceful election hopefully they will follow up with more diplomatic ties with Sland and more development packages to improve the living conditions and democracy in the region.
