In a country where rumor and hearsay have storefront we undertook to seek information to differentiate the good from the bad. Confidentially we sought the reasons for the journalist and activist Human Rights Hussein Ahmed Farah was arrested August 8 and then be transferred to August 11, 2012 Gabode prison after being detained for 72 hours in the local Commissioner of Central. Our approach has met with a silence abysmal. In fact, we introduced Thursday, August 16, 2012 a hearing with the Minister of Justice is unheeded. In addition, our questions to the judge handling the case did not have answers.
To date, the only information that we have collected are those that we have been given by his lawyer. According to him, the journalist Hussein continued disregard for judicial review. However, this case is pending for 18 months before the judge. Why the judicial inquiry was never closed by the judge or holder or his substitute? This procedure does she not been used insidiously to undermine the exercise of civil rights, professional and political citizen Hussein Ahmed Farah?
A first request for bail was filed on August 14 by his lawyer. It was immediately rejected by the judge. An appeal was immediately filed by his lawyer that we are still waiting for treatment before the indictment.
Moreover, another application for bail was made by the journalist himself. So far no response has filtered side of the administration regarding this application.
Since his incarceration in prison Gabode Houssein Ahmed Farah lost 4 kg, her diabetes is very high according to the information we had. Given the conditions of detention overcrowding and unsanitary, Hussein suffers from a chronic cold for 18 days. Held in the “courtyard” in the middle of more than sixty prisoners of common rights, we are very concerned for his safety.
In this period of upheaval and cowardice as citizens “our humanity requires conscious awareness and an ongoing commitment to self and others.” Otherwise as said the German pastor Martin Niemoller: “When tomorrow they will get us there have to speak up. ”
That is why as an organization for the defense of human rights we demand the release of journalist and activist Hussein Ahmed Farah. We believe that these deprivations of liberty that can hit any citizen for political reasons may jeopardize long-term peace and social cohesion.

The Article doesn't mention what crime the journalist committed to deserve this prolonged
detention? Which clan does she belong to within the Djibouti majority/minority tribes?
Something should be done to bring forward this long detention without trial.
Cheers.
I am not sure if the detained journalist is a woman or a man. The journalist probably exposed thievery by Khadra Haid with the total consent and approval of IOG.
Cheers: Does it matter which clans the journalists detained in Hargeisa are to you? If no, why ask about Djibouti?
jabuutawi,
Hargeisa and Djibouti are tol iyo xidid. Isaaq and Ciise Waraabe are TOL Hashimites.
Since all Hargeisa Govts and Nation attach much special political alligance to Djibouti
IOG powers, I would rather avoid discussing what does matter which clan's the journalist.
peace.
Cheers.
Jabutawi as usually with your Issa clan, all bad thing come from Kadra Haid so IOG and remaining of his clan are good ..Pitiful how some of your clan are still piss off on the fact that your president did not choice "one of your sister as wife". Really I don know how much power is enough for ur clan as u get almost everything.Watch out how u wanna build ur country Jabuutawi..
there wont be a djiboutian spring as the regime would polarize society along clan/ethnic lines cause wholesale bloodshed just to cling on to power and somaliland cant afford djibouti to be like somalia refugees flooding our cities e.g hargeisa borama and las anod
very well said abdiwahab. alwayse spot on.
