Tribalism, a disease which led to a horrible civil war and to the collapse of the State in Somalia, is not a footstep we like to follow
In a so-called opinion text entitled «Djibouti politicians playing the same tribe card that led to Somalia downfall» and published on the website http://somalilandpress.com on July 10, 2012 a so-called Mouna Esse Mohamed is spreading lies about the prominent opposition leader and MRD chairman Daher Ahmed Farah (DAF) who has been peacefully fighting for freedom and democracy in Djibouti since 1992, what he’s been paying at too high a price.
He was arrested, imprisoned, prevented from doing any living in Djibouti and forced into exil in Europe in 2004. Let alone what happened to his family and fellow MRD members. Mouna Esse Mohamed (is it her real name ? If so why is she not showing her photo like that of DAF ? ) is accusing him to politically play a tribal game against the Djibouti first lady Kadra Mahamoud Haid in order to rally his own fellow clan members behind him.
It is simply ridiculous. For any person who knows Daher Ahmed Farah, a man of a high moral value and a high political conscience, who refused easy money and corruption, these accusations can only sound as a deliberate and politically motivated attack. One can only read the MRD political project (www.mrd-djibouti.com), news and other MRD writings (www.lavoixdedjibouti.com or http://lavoixdedjibouti.rsf.org ) to know the truth. And the truth is that MRD is critic of all wrongdoings which come to its knowledge irrespective of the clan origin of those who are responsible for them. Maybe Mouna Esse Mohamed does not speak French and is only spreading the lies of the president Guelleh regime who is desperate for anti-opposition propaganda, maybe she is doing this on purpose (as do others for money or for blind pro-regime support), anyway she is far away from truth about Daher Ahmed Farah.
If someone is to be blamed for tribalism, it is the president Guelleh and his regime. More than one time, they tried to oppose people in Djibouti on tribal ground and the PRD-turned-MRD and Daher Ahmed Farah were always quick to oppose that with their journal Le Renouveau which was banned in 2007 and since then through other means of communication such as their Party website, the News website La Voix de Djibouti and International mass-medias.
The lesson from this so-called opinion paper of this so-called Mouna Essa Mohamed is that the MRD and Daher Ahmed Farah are fighting the president Guelleh so well that he finds no argument but ridiculous lies. It’s rather encouraging for MRD and their great leader Daher Ahmed Farah.

i think that flag is beautiful it looks more beautiful then the somaliweyn/somalia one
Looooool haters will always be haters. The only thing thats prettyer than the blue flag is the blue sky n see love :)
I am from Somaliland and I agree with you. The blue somali flag is actually viewed the most beautiful flag. Here is what they say.
A classic. Simple, to the point.
I think this one beats Vietname , owing to superior colour choice and a smaller star.
Not quite as nice as Somalia.
my lord, misslovely somalis flag was declare six months ago one of The most beautiful flag in The world.
Psychologist found out The color BLUE keep calm people when They are Anxies, as a Anesthesis most doctors surgeries or hospitals are painted These days BLUE color.
The colour blue is for dreamers. Companies like blue because their clients get their hopes up falsely about their blue products. What better a flase hope than somalia?
It’s not dreamers color unlike some region, put real calm solid color which psychologist agreed. somali state still exists stronge Thoe been Throught a lot The blue flag flying hight at U.N head office.
if poeople ask favorite color clear majoraty will say blue. much of The world is blue ( skies, seas). seeing The color blue acually causes The body to produce chemicals That are calming.
Blue is universal color in many diverse cultures, over The ages LIGHT BLUE color has become associated with steadfastness-dependability-wisdom and loyalty (note how many uniforms are blue).
People tend to be more productive in blue room becuase They are calm & focused on The task at hand. also blue painted rooms doctor serguries patient who are anxious will be come more calm.
correction ( strong… will become more calm).
So they say, somali flag is not beautiful. coming from someone who came up with french flag with arabic writings so that to be recognized, by the way somalia flag is the most sort after flags in the world. this coming from a kenyan brother.
what is that woman wearing. it is not somali culture.
It is what the Afar Ethiopians wear.
yes it’s afar dress, as someone mention before Djibouti population 40% are afar and oromo not 100% somali.
Ismail Omar Guelleh is using the same tactics the French used in subduing the masses – divide and conquer the people. The opposition parties should unite against the one-family run government in Djibouti. He is telling the other groups that if I go, "they" will exact revenge, and that could not be farther from the truth. He and his wife are the real boogey (wo)man and I implore Djiboutians to rise above his diatribe and unite in ousting him.
Ismail and Khadra Haid have stolen millions of dollars and stashed monies in various offshore accounts. As the video clip shows, why would few people in high posts within the government invest in a foreign country (Somaliland) to tune of $17 million dollars, when people are jobless in Djibouti? I know of no government position that pays enough to invest in a coca cola plant without raiding public coffers. Ismail Omar Guelleh, Khadra Haid and their cohorts must be held accountable for the embezzlement of millions of dollars that would have otherwise gone to education, combating drought, social services, healthcare and job creation in Djibouti.
Ismail is a fugitive in France. Once his term expires, the French court will come after him for the murder of a French judge. The court should also investigate the murder of Colonel Yacin Yabe and many others and set precedence in prosecuting him for the judge's death. Ismail use to collaborate with the French, while real Djiboutians were martyred in the struggle for independence including many of my close relatives.
Jabutawi really i disagree with u do you have any proof hat this money was stolen to fund coca cola project in Hargeisa? I also watch this video, all the guy are from ur clan, they even call Somaliland not as country but as self named. The fact is Ahmed osman Guelleh, the djiboutian businesman is issaq so it is difficult for you to accept that he invest in Somaliland. Do not forget by the way there is already a license coca cola in Djibouti, owned by a arab djiboutian! I am sure even this money was stolen, there is no or less problem if fund are invested in Dubaï or Paris. Article of mouna was so truth. To conclude, this Guy Daher of opposition is a well known tribal man . It is not my opinion but from many of my djiboutian friend. And no comment if u defend colonel yacin yabeh, a bad man but i heard DAF alway support him. Guess why? All opposition are so tribal and from one clan. Real democracy Will take time in ur country.
Please come and talk to me when the next 5 presidents in Somaliland are all non-Isaaq, then your argument would hold legitimacy. I am not talking about the "accidental" president by the name of Riyale as evidence-based by the post-tribal proponents in Somaliland. Somaliland is far from being a true representative of all the clans that inhabit within its borders. In Djibouti, no one is sugar coating the evidence – all the opposition and leaders hail from one clan.
"Please come and talk to me when the next 5 presidents in Somaliland are all non-Isaaq"
What kind of democracy is that lol
Jabuutawi,
Come on walaal, or should I say HUUNO moahahahaha…you can't be serious. I have seen that video of that dude in Ottawa…its just all trash and childish talk.
SPi is all owned by Hargeisawi man and ina Haid does have share but he invested no more than $1, the whole Djiboutis invested no more than $5…the rest came from Hargeisa and some from Jigjiga.
Not sure why Jaboutis making it big deal something they don't even know the truth about. They saw the Djibouti flag and automatically thought to themselves why is the flag there, there must be something.
They think Djiboutis invested all $17m and Hargeisawis invested $0 not even the land moahaahahahahaha…
This is the funniest joke in recent times.
SPi is all made in Hargeisa and I am proud of his little polluting, water wasting, diabetes spreading mini-factory.
If Djiboutis want it they can have it…we will have less people with diabetes and tooth decay…and less water issues in my home town of Aw-Barkhadle.
Wherever I being to is my home town kids :)
From Aware to Aw-Barkhadle…if al Shabab were in Somaliland, they would have bombed both the SPi factory and Sheikh Aw-Barkhadle tomb…those who know the place know his big tomb…they born foox and stuff.
I heard Sheikh Aw-Barkhadle came up with Somali hiigadsi for the Quran.
I'm moving to Haleeya, Hargeisa is all trash.
Kayse your point is well taken. However, even the paltry sum of $5 million dollars invested by these Djiboutians is mostly ill-gotten money. Hopefully we agree on that? Majority of that money was intended for other projects within Djibouti but diverted elsewhere.
Look, I know how much ministers make in Djibouti, let alone a head of the Central Bank – not much by American standards. My older brother makes more money in a month than 5 ministers regular salaries combined.
In Djibouti, as in elsewhere in Africa, you make money by raiding public coffers, aid money and illicit trades. An American urban legend by the name of Willie Sutton was asked, why do you rob banks? He responded by saying "because that is where the money is". How true is that statement! These folks in RPP in Djibouti are not only robbing banks, but stealing from grandma's stashed money under her mattress.
If private investors in Somaliland invest in Somaliland, I am all for it. I encourage more to do so, but not at the expense of public funds. In Djibouti there is no distinction between public and private funds. It is all blurred on purpose by the president, Khadra Haid and their minions.
Looks like the Jabuutians do not respect Hargeisa. Hargeisa and SL has the population, and that is the biggest asset we have so far. If we don't attract people from DJ, it would have been people from somewhere else. So we are victims of our own success, and nothing to be accused of entertaining haram money from DJ.
If we discriminated business people from DJ on grounds of corruption which is difficult to proof, then you can imagine the unfairness it will create and enmity between the people in the region.
It is exactly was happened in the past with the previous regime that not only robbed the somalilanders of their wealth and their dignity. The misery of some will automatically make the happiness of others. It will end up worst than Hargeisa, but at last the accusee is more worst than the accused and the fight is just for cashadi, they all had qadadi… When yesterday The president of Djib was delivering innocents somalilanders for the SOMALI regime in the past, I will believe even if Djibouti claims half of Somaliland, Everyone will be ready to give to him. Simple like IOG regime has more powerful allies than all poor Somaliland….
Frist correct ur name and chooce decent one so that intellectual mind's to consider and read your statement….
For your information, this lady is wearing a typical AFAR dress from Tadjourah a city in the northern part of Djibouti.
