It is good for the rest of African countries to learn from and emulate Somaliland Democratic process. It should be part of the learning process in the history books.

    Way to go, Somaliland!

  2. mahad shide says:

the election that international observers call as free and fair election and the graceful manner that out going president hand over power to his to the coming president is a good example of how the people of somaliland and its politicians are commited to democracy and well being of their country ; hopefully all other african countries will the do the same thing

  3. Halyey Layaqaan says:

Any one who says that Somalianders share common culture with the tribes of Somalia proper is utterly mistaken, and should withdraw ones blunder. The peaceful and democratic path Somalilanders hace chosen and embarked on for the last twenty years has nothing in common with the hellish path those tribes of Somalia insisted on all those years, which earned them the title of failed state.

Somalilanders, on the contrary, proved to be a shining example for the third world as a whole, in self-reliance, and adoption of constructive attitudes to dealing with social, political, and economical problems, in one of the most hostile regions on the planet. The result is the great nation and state of the republic of Somaliland we celebrate today and everday. We have nothing in common with the tribes of Somalia, which does not even exist, except as a mere name of a place.

    • Ahmed says:

Speaking of culture, I was surprised the other they when I found out that they don't even know what a xeedho is because that is not part of their culture.

  4. HMObsiye says:

It is in the best political interest for both Ethiopia and Kenya to be the first and second Countries to recognize Somaliland. If these two countries wants the status quo to remain the way it was for the last 20 years, that is, do not recognize Somaliland as legitmate Country and let Somalia crises countinue, then the problems wil leventually come to hunt your countries as well. Because, there are huge ethnic Somalis who live in both of Your countries. and believe me, they are not happy to see the status quo to remain the same. Therefore, its for your own best interest to recognize Somaliland.

  5. Kayse says:

Recognition or without recognition Somaliland will make it. Kenya is to open a trade office in Hargeisa but its not good enough.
