The somaliland governement should take action against this as Ethiopia should not have it's forces within somaliland and should not be carrying out these activities outside their borders. If the governement do not voice their opposition then Ethiopia will feel they can freely act in any way they wish, this is an insult to somaliland sovereignty. The somaliland police force, if no-one else, should have been consulted. Unless the adminstration is fully aware.
I would be very intersted to know what the response o the somaliland government is, if eneyone hears anyhting please do let me know.
I totally agree Ahmed. It is one thing if they were in persuit of the vehicle and when it entered the Somaliland territory they continued their chase for fear that they will escape if they had waited to inform the SL -authorities, which might be justified under previous agreements the two governments made with each other. But it is another to just enter SL-territory in the premise that the vehicle is carrying contraban. Doesn't make sense. The least they could do is inform the Somaliland police and let them do the investigation and search. it is huge error in their part and is one that requires the somaliland authorities to take action despite the friendship that exist.
But i would caution everyone to jump to conclusions, especially since we don't know whether this information has been varified or not or is true or not.
The people of Somaliland should know more about what the Government is doing and not doing; one is for sure: they limited and are limiting freedom of speech! It is unbelievable that Ethiopians can conduct such action without the knowledge and consent of the national authorities. These sort of information is withheld from the public. It could be that Somaliland like Puntland is too obedient to Ethiopia. The public should be informed as good as possible about the politics in the country and clandestine plans of the government. A powerful media will benefit Somaliland the most. It will force the government to make policies that will be in the interest of the country.
