Berbera Police Detains a Suspected Terrorist with Links to Al-Qaida

BERBERA(SomalilandPress)–Berbera Police Intelligence Unit arrested and detained a suspected high ranking member of the radical group known as Al-Shabaab with links to the well known terrorist organization Al-Qaida. The alleged man was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday morning (Sept/21st/11) as he attempted to enter Berbera Port.
Abdirahman Mohamoud Ibrahim, police commander of Sahel region police department speaking to the press said “the suspect is in custody and currently is being interrogated by our investigators”, adding “and I would like to also mention and praise our intelligence department for their successful capture”.
The police commander declined to provide the suspects name to the press, saying “I cannot give you a name because as I said the detainee is being questioned by the department’s intelligence unit and that the investigation has not ended yet, once that process is concluded, the case will be handed over to the higher court of Sahel region and the prosecutors”. Mr. Ibrahim in his final remarks said “we ask all citizens of this region as well as the whole country to keep a vigilant eye and immediately report on any unusual activity they perceive to the police.
An unconfirmed report says another suspect that was seen with the detainee is on the hunt by the police.
