AP: Former Somali colonel not immune from suit

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A court filing argues that a former Somalia military colonel who lives in Ohio can’t claim immunity from allegations he ordered the torture of a human rights advocate.
The Tuesday filing by attorneys for Abukar Hassan Ahmed says a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling shut the door on the colonel’s immunity claims.
The ruling in June involves a former Somali prime minister now living in Virginia and says diplomatic immunity does not automatically extend to individuals.
The former colonel in Ohio, Abdi Aden Magan of Columbus, argues he’s immune from lawsuits because he acted in his official capacity on behalf of the Somali government.
Magan is the former chief of the National Security Service of Somalia. Ahmed is suing him in federal court in Columbus.

justice, justice,, you cannot commit crime against humanity and attempt hiding in the states.
All the criminals who had committed genocide against their own people in Africa
or Asia, have already found their safe heaven from America, Canada and some Europe countries, who claims that they are the most biggest democracies or civilization in the world.
It's good to take them down and the U.S. is well aware of this former criminals who now live on U.S. social security. The final humiliation left for them is to be locked up for good and never see the light again.
All the other criminals in the U.S, Canada, UK have to be sued.
Morgan is still free in Somalia

until people like Sheikh Sharif and others remove those kind of criminals from their governments and regions, we will not have any thing to do with their country or government.
Morgan is hiding some where in Southern Somalia but a lawsuit against him has been filed in Kenya and I believe once Kenya approves the new referendum, criminals like Morgan who travel to Kenya should face justice.
He cant go to Ethiopia or many other African countries, Middle East or West.

by the comments posted on this site i get the feeling that many of the people that comment are relaxing in the western world. 'Secret service" the only member of the secret service that i came in contact with in Somaliland was the only non-relative that asked me for money to chew at midday Hargiesa airport. He was smoking by btw so people with hardly any connection to the values of their forefathers will not get far while changing there morals.
Before the President-elected start any kind of discussions, Somalia has to hand over all criminals who abused their positions of power and killed so many innocent people.
Morgan travels to any African they have to alert Somaliland security to go and grab him Israeli style. So, he can face the music. It is about time to bring these criminals to justice.

How about bringing to justice the members of other tribes that were also involved in gross human rights abuses in Somalia? The intelligence adviser of Kahin bombed the innocent chidlren, men and women of Mudug,who supported the SSDF. And what tribe does he belong to? Surprisingly he is from the majority tribe and sub sub clan in Ceerigaabo. Double standards never brings justice, rather it leads to further injustice. How about the footsoldiers of the USC or SNM or other groups that fought the legitimate government of Mohamed Siad Barre (Allahyarhamma). More Somalis have been killed since 1991, than during the rule of Jaale Mohamed Siad Barre (1969- 1991).
