An open letter to the Somaliland electorate

An open letter to the Somaliland electorate, should UCID win the election?

It is my honor to write this piece today, when Somaliland citizens are about to go to the polls to elect a new government.

It is my sincere belief that if the election takes place in a free and fair election, then Somaliland is going to become recognized as a sovereign country.

Somaliland today is a mature democracy, its people while being poor still enjoy full democratic rights, the whole world is amazed at this democracy, I live in Canada and I know for a fact that the entire world is amazed at Somaliland.

I am sending a solemn advice to the people of Somaliland:

Please when you go to the polls, vote for whoever is going to better Somaliland, do not vote on a tribal basis, or selfish basis, just vote for whoever is smart, educated. Whatever you do, don’t do anything that will make you suffer from buyer’s remorse.

I believe that the next government of Somaliland should be one that is competent, educated, one that has foresight and move the country forward.

As a member of the Diaspora, I am convinced that if a good government comes to power, we in Canada will do our utmost to work with that government and make sure that recognition is given without delay to the country.

I am sorry to say that the current government while still doing good things may have acquired a little narcissistic flavor.

I would advocate an objective and enlightened government for Somaliland, I would hope that Somaliland citizens will value education and elect educated leaders.

Also I would like to tell the Somaliland electorate that they should value women right also, and elect a government that has women on its platform.

I would like to caution the Somaliland electorate against any kind of tribalism and shortsightedness. It is my full promise that if they elect the right government, then Somaliland will become recognized, the recognition that you are looking for is directly dependent on who is going to get elected.

The Somaliland community of Ottawa will work with whatever government gets elected, but we will prefer a strong and educated leadership, and we will like a leadership of Somaliland that includes women in the highest offices such as foreign ministry.

It is my utmost hope that such a leadership will be elected, and I seriously hope that the electorate of Somaliland is not shortsighted, that they will elect on their conscience.

I am sending Somaliland and its people my best wishes and hoping a nice peaceful election for Somaliland.

I also believe that Somaliland is protector by God and will always move forward.

Am leaning more towards Ucid nowadays. I liked Kulmiye but the party leaves alot of unanswered questions, needless to say am not very impressed with the recent converts to Kulmiye either. Ucid's leader is a nationalist who says it like it is, he never minces words and quite frankly he is the man the enemy's of Somaliland love to hate and that alone says alot about the man. Also, am uneasy about Selanyo's age, I fear he will die in office and leave us with another Rayaale.
